I didn't compare Emanuel to DeLay, if I would have it would have been to mention that I lack respect for both instead of a claim of that they are equally evil.
You'll focus on Planned Parenthood, state house and senate while having no problem with, "volunteers deciding to focus on someone other than Duckworth". This is what fascinates me and is something I think we should discuss. I want to understand this dynamic, because I think it has moved a great deal so far this year. The top-down model of telling people they need to fall in line is colliding with an increased sophistication driving by a greater access to knowledge and a longer term approach as people realize that Democrats' problems are not limited to being in the minority.
I think the battle between out of touch DC Democrats and grassroots Democrats is one the biggest problem in our Party. I want to better understand the dynamics of what is going on and telling people they need to volunteer for the nominee is a way to cover up the problem without dealing with it. You didn't say that, but talked about "unhinged rhetoric" in a manner that I think some of us are talking past each other.
Something is happening that I want to better understand.
This debate fascinates me, but I don't think it is about over being a Yellow Dog Dem. The question seems to center on what happens in addition to voting Dem. I think the debate is whether the congressional race is the most effective place for those who will be volunteering their time for Democrats in one office or another.
Now that I know you support Westly I am more confident in my belief that he is a complete piece of crap. Really, I always hated him but your support gives me the excuse to write I have always thought was true.
Emanuel knew Hackett would go back on his word and run for OH-02 when he promised he wouldn't. Everyone knew that. Emanuel just used OH-02 as an excuse for DC to do a full court press on Hackett, so it was coming from both the house and senate sides.
I remember talking with Hackett after Brown decided he would run after saying he wouldn't. Hackett reminded me of the following from his favorite movie:
[Tuco is in a bubble bath. The One Armed Man enters the room]
One Armed Man: I've been looking for you for 8 months. Whenever I should have had a gun in my right hand, I thought of you. Now I find you in exactly the position that suits me. I had lots of time to learn to shoot with my left.
[Tuco kills him with the gun he has hidden in the foam]
Tuco: When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk.
As the junior IL senator, it was Obama's job to call Cegelis. He made the call just before the last day to withdraw from the ballot on 12/28/2005. Besides, Durbin supported Cegelis in 2004. It wouldn't have looked good for him to make the call.
As somebody who follows blog outreach by candidates, I have to say Anglides is brilliant if his campaign is posting these drive by attacks that look like they come from Westly. These diaries make Westly look far worse than a direct attack ever could, simply brilliant. Newbie posters with quick attacks, so easy to see through that it would be the logical conclusion have negative thoughts against Westly, simply brilliant. Westly's campaign would never claim that a dual endorsement was an endorsement for Westly. And not even Garry South would be silly enough to claim that the $14 million Angelides has is the bank isn't enough money. If Angelides is engineering this campaign, then he deserves a lot of credit for proving what a lot of people already know about Westly's attempt to buy the race.
I appreciated the way Angelides started attacking the Governator back when Arnold had an 80% approval rating, but I had no idea his campaign was so brilliant. This is a perfect way to reinforce what voters already think about Westly, who was Arnold's butt-boy until approval numbers dropped. Wow, simply brilliant. Considering Westly has dumped $20 million trying to buy the race, bonus points for people assuming that this is coming from paid staffers who aren't disclosing.
I refused to be a fool dancing on a string held by all those - big shots. I don't apologize; that's my life. But I thought that...when it was your time that - that you would be the one to hold the strings.
