It appears the GOP is ramping up their attempts to steal the vote in Ohio and intimidate SOS Jennifer Brunner.

The Ohio SOS web site has been hacked, albeit unsuccessfully.

Goldman Sachs & Morgan Stanley to become banks

Oh my, my, oh hell yes

Let's allow a couple of investment banks to become bank holding companies so we can buy their bad paper when the time comes.

The lobbyists must be working all night...

While we're at it, can't we nationalize something profitable, like the oil industry?

U of C Ohio Poll - McCain Has Slight Edge

U of Cincinnati's Polling Report shows McCain ahead with 48% to Obama's 44% in a telephone interview of 775 likely voters, MOE + or - 3.5%.  The Ohio Poll does have a history of oversampling GOP voters, so don't put too much weight on it.

19% said they might change their mind, 4% were undecided.

Gender breakdown - 45% of women support McCain, 47% support Obama - that lead needs to increase to between 50% and 55%.  Big Dog is the last Dem who won here who knew how to get those large margins of women voters.

"Outsourcing" Medical Research

Just as concern is growing over FDA's approval of new drugs and therapies that later prove to harm patients, we find the international pharma industry has found a way to lower the cost of drug development.

They're outsourcing human clinical trials, in countries like India, where costs are low, and regulations lax to non-existent. Not only are patient's losing informed consent rights, the results of the trials have little scientific peer review or oversight and, like the Vioxx trial, may hide data on negative side effects of drugs.

If you think US consumers are protected, you're only barely right. Regulations for having clinical trials research published in professional journals is voluntary only. No doubt pressure on the FDA will grow to approve more drugs based on results of these international clinical trials.

Stephanie's Lesson: In The Living Years

As one of many, many friends and fans of Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and, like her, a loyal, loyal Democract my grief at her passing knows no bounds.  The loss to our Democratic party and to the world at large is immeasurable, and we are struggling to find some meaning or meager lesson from the untimely death of such a valuable and caring human being. I am exhausted from my tears and I know there will be more to come.

At the same time, the tearing of the loyal, protective fabric of our party has caused many of us great pain. There's no better occasion than Stephanie's passing to bind our wounds and unite us.

My party means everything to me, as it also did to the Congresswoman. Please, lets heal those wounds and she would no doubt want us to use this occasion to unite.

Please help end the tears of so many of her friends and unite this grand and glorious party.

The Living Years

Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door

I know that Im a prisoner
To all my father held so dear
I know that Im a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
Im afraid thats all we've got

You say you just dont see it
He says its perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defence

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
Its too late when we die
To admit we dont see eye to eye

So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
Its the bitterness that lasts

So dont yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you dont give up, and dont give in
You may just be o.k.

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
Its too late when we die
To admit we dont see eye to eye

I wasnt there that morning
When my father passed away
I didnt get to tell him
All the things I had to say

I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
Im sure I heard his echo
In my babys new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
Its too late when we die
To admit we dont see eye to eye

Please let us resolve our differences in our living years.  And let me use this opportunity to send my love and thanks to all our great Dem leaders now, in our living years. Don't let the hour pass when we can no longer say how much we love each other.

From Ohio's 13th District - Sherrod, Connie, Dennis, Ted, Lee, Jennifer, Bill, Hillary, Obama, Al, Betty, Barbara, Jimmy, Peter, Dale, Lance, Ray, Eric, Tom, Tim (Hagan and Ryan), Zach, Marcy, Rep Stokes, Jane, Mike, Roosevelt, Vel, Cindy  and all my other Dem friends - I love you, I love you, I love all of you and I will walk through fire for you. I don't want another day to pass without you knowing that.

Thanks for all you do, even if we don't always see eye to eye.

And Stephanie, I have a million things I wish I could say to you, but you know I love you and give you my thanks. I will miss you forever girlfriend, my heart is broken. We always saw eye to eye.

Don't give up, don't give in. Unite and love each other. We will be ok.

Say it loud.
