Let's Kick The GOP Where It Hurts- Hillary for AG

OK, so first task is getting the senate to 60 Democrats.

Second, elect Obama/Biden.

Third... Barack, are you listening to this one? Make Hillary Clinton Attorney General.

She's got an impressive background in law...we know she's a dedicated fighter. The Democratic Legislative branch can pass great laws, and Obama can sign them, but we NEED someone to make sure they are enforced.  JFK and America NEEDED the strong AG they had in Bobby Kennedy during the civil rights movement, and Bobby showed them what a high profile and tough AG can do.

Well, Hillary's done a pretty good job at filling Bobby's other seat, so...

I can't think of anyone who would naturally draw more attention or fight harder to enforce labor and environmental laws, ensure that insurance companies comply with the new health care legislation, or protect the constitution.

We've got a great head and heart for the next Democratic administration in Barack Obama and Joe Biden, but as smart and tough as these guys are, it's the ENFORCEMENT of laws that is the backbone of any Government.  Let's give it a strong spine with Hillary Clinton as AG.

Can you imagine after eight years of corruption, scandal, and misdeeds by the GOP anything that would drive more of a cold chill down their spine than seeing someone that they've dragged through the mud, scorned, ridiculed, and used-- and no one has been the target of these attacks more than Hillary-- in complete control of the United States Justice Department.

Ho. Lee.  Shit.

Re: Let's Kick The Republicans Where It Hurts

Tips for what's so bad ass it should be considered political sadism...

Re: Let's Kick The Republicans Where It Hurts

I would retitle this post to indicate the concept more clearly, though.

Re: Let's Kick The Republicans Where It Hurts

Oooh... That WOULD be fun. The Republicans would go into catatonic shock.

I have to think this would bring some holdouts on board, too. I don't know how anyone wouldn't relish the prospect of Hillary in that position.

Re: Let's Kick The Republicans Where It Hurts

I know, man.  Think about it. 8 years of a high profile bully pulpit from which she can display EVERYTHING that all Democrats love and respect about her--her fighting spirit.

and at the end of that years she will have Presidents Clinton AND Obama, aka both first black Presidents, as her top surrogates.

I don't care what the naysayers who claim a run in 8 years for her is unrealistic say, this situation would make her a shoo-in.

And more than that, think of what it could do for the country.

Be fun, although its technically illegal to promise an office prior to an election.

Her name could be floated, however.  Would she want it?

That DOES sound like fun, but Hillary will do MUCH better in the Senate. She's good at twisting arms, she's a force to be reckoned with, we already know she's got a hell of a base of support, and if we want to hit the Rethugs where it REALLY hurts, pass universal health care, structure a progressive tax system, get the economy out of the hands of the oil companies. That'll really piss them off.
I still think Edwards would be fine as AG. Who gives a damn if the AG cheats on his wife?

Re: Let's Kick The GOP Where It Hurts- Hillary for

Look, it looks like there is ANOTHER Edwards affair about to bubble to the surface, so it's time to accept the reality that he's toast, and more than that this has completely reinforced my initial impression that he was a phony.  So I think it's time to start looking elsewhere for the AG.

Re: Let's Kick The GOP Where It Hurts- Hillary for
Hadn't heard that. Okay, point taken. I was an Edwards guy in '04, but I couldn't get behind him this year. The shift from 'nice guy who wants to get along' to 'fiery populist' was a little abrupt for me. That, and he had to apologize for about 70% of the votes he made in the Senate.
But I still believe that he would've made a good AG, if his c**k hadn't gotten in the way.
But I still think Clinton would be wasted in the AG spot. I opposed her in the primaries but there's no doubt that she's got clout. And that's all you really need to get laws to pass. If other dem Senators are scared of incurring her wrath, they'll fall in line. And in that post, she can keep President Obama honest and push him to fulfill his promises.
Think about it. In eight years (hopefully) Obama will be leaving office (and, in my view, hopefully destined for the Supreme Court). But Clinton could still be there in the Senate, busting ass and carrying the torch and whipping the NEXT generation of legislators into line.
Personally, I don't think that's a bad legacy.

Re: Hillary for AG

Yeah, especially in the light of this:

But I wonder where she would be more effective: in the DOJ or as Senate Majority Leader?

Howz about Hillary for the Supreme Court?  Wanna bust some balls?    Put her on the Highest Bench in the Land and watch their heads just explode.

Re: Let's Kick The GOP Where It Hurts- Hillary for

What is with all the Obama bots suggesting ways to demote Hillary as though they are promotions?

Obama will spend 4 years in Hillary's shadow and then she will be president.

All this other stuff is just silly.

Re: Let's Kick The GOP Where It Hurts- Hillary for

AG is not exactly a demotion, more of a lateral move. However, I think she'd probably be more effective as Senate Majority Leader.

Now, if you mean a demotion from President, that's a whole other story. Am I disappointed that she didn't get the nomination? Yes I am. But that doesn't mean that I've given up on the party (as you appear to have).

If Obama doesn't win in November, it won't be because I didn't do my best. I have, and will continue to work my ass off to put a Democrat in the White House January 20th.
