And Still She Shines - Just Like Polished Gold

I spent the day making calls at the phone bank - my voice is shot and I'm tired tonight.

I've been thinking of this video for the past few days, so I'll let Ms. Jewell Hodges say what I've been feeling today...

Hillary - we're still waiting at the foot of that mountain and you're the only one who can beat McCain and help our nation climb back up to the top.

So take a little while to catch your breath, and when you're rested and ready we'll be waiting to help you get to the top of that mountain again - polished like gold.

Here's Hillary's speech from this evening...

Harriet Christian on Neil Cavuto's Show

Remember that video of that woman outside the DNC meeting on Saturday?  Jane Hamsher interviewed a few folks and this woman was pretty memorable for the anger and passion in her voice.  She also raised a few eyebrows with her words.   Well she's a bit calmer than she was after the DNC's RBC meeting on Saturday, but she's still determined to see this become a fair process.

She's still pissed and so are a lot of Hillary's other supporters - myself included.

Updates Re Texas Caucus Fraud

EBW and MBW of the highly respected Wampum blog have got their hands on the incident report summary referred to in Pacific John's widely-read Texas caucus report.

As one of the only remaining highly respected neutral voices in the liberal netroots, EBW says,

"[...] I have the original [incident report summary], and the affidavits in my possession, and I personally know the person who provided these documents to me, and who's last name is redacted along with the rest.

I have a higher degree of confidence in the provenance of the material and veracity of the existence of the events journaled in the incident report than I have of anything in the media, other than perhaps the report of yesterday's weather where I was an actual observer, or the date."

That's quite an endorsement. A sponsor of the Koufax Awards, and blogging partner of one of the original Gate Crashers, says,

"I have a higher degree of confidence in the provenance of the material and veracity of the existence of the events journaled in the incident report than I have of anything in the media [...]"

We can assume the affidavits contain the worst of the incidents listed in the summary, but all of the irregularities are troubling.

Thank You Puerto Rico!

I love writing titles like this one.  Seems over the past few months I've been writing this more often than not regarding one fabulous win or another of Hillary's. And that's all thanks to our amazing candidate and her cracker-jack team of staff and volunteers who hit the ground hard in each state and don't let up until they've reached out to every last voter.

Now as you might have heard, Hillary's picked up another huge win and added to her lead in the popular vote thanks to the good people of Puerto Rico.  Despite the shouts and hollering that this thing is over - despite the huge efforts of people to push Hillary aside, the good people of Puerto Rico turned out today and said in no uncertain terms that they choose her as our next leader.

Nearly a 39% lead - that's nothing to sneeze at folks and it's right up there with her 40 point win in WV and her 35% (?) win in KY.

Those voters in Puerto Rico have now joined the 17 million American's who've turned out to support Hillary and her historic run for the White House.  That's a pretty awesome number you guys - 17 million people... that's more votes than any other candidate has gotten - ever

Her 17 million supporters are the focus of Hillary's latest campaign ad - check it out...

Thou Shalt Not Steal (Updated)

Well as you might have guessed, I was at the protest in DC today as the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) met to decide what to do with the votes my family and some 600,000 others cast in Michigan, and those 1.7 million cast in Florida.

We turned up to make our voices heard in the hopes that the RBC would do the right thing and NOT punish the people for what their state party leaders - and those of the respective state republican party leaders did in moving up their primary dates.  It's always been my view that they were talking about punishing the wrong people but that doesn't count for much as I'm not one of the 30 people on the RBC.

I didn't even make it inside the meeting but others were there.  Some were chanting when it was clear what was the RBC was doing with the delegates from Michigan, and Jane Hamsher at FireDogLake posted the following video of one of the women who were forcibly ejected from the meeting...

They manhandled and bruised a teacher and a Democrat of over 40 years for feck sake..

Want Unity? Start By Condemning Hate-Speech

Ya know, I hear all this talk about wanting to bring our party together once our nominee is chosen at the convention in Denver, but when this latest in a long string of incidences of hate-speech crop up, all we get are more of the same half-assed statements ("deeply disappointed") from camp Obama distancing himself from... (fill in the blank).

Pfleager Video

(Credit goes to NoQuarter for first posting this - it's all over the net now and the networks are starting to air it as well)

Howard Wolfson spoke to this issue in a statement yesterday, in which he noted that Obama has yet to condemn this guy...

"Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics.  We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn't specifically reject Father's Pflegler's despicable comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so."

Peaceful Protest = Creating Chaos? (Updated - West Coast Event!)

Ok I think we've finally entered silly season here folks.  For a guy who got his big start by making a speech at an anti-war rally a few years back (a speech he seems to have built his entire campaign around), this statement by his campaign about this Saturday's protest at the DNC meeting in DC really does fly in the face of reason.

Apparently, one of his senior campaign managers (David Plouffe) told reporters during a recent presser that he didn't "think its a helpful dynamic to create chaos" at this meeting.

So let me get this straight... he hits the national scene by making a speech at a rally, but now we're not supposed to lobby for voting rights?

Does anyone else see a serious disconnect in what Plouffe is saying here?

Hillary Makes Her Case for Seating the MI Delegation

It's About Voting Rights - Period

Just ran across this video of Hillary in Michigan (March), when all eyes were on my home state, and people were waiting to see if Obama would do the right thing and sign on to a plan that would let a re-vote move forward in my home state.

Hillary signed on.
The DNC agreed to it.
The state party in Michigan were on board.

So was most of the state legislature.  The rethugs were pointing to Obama's refusal to agree to this plan as an excuse for not moving forward with it.

Some supporters of Hillary's even said they'd raise the $15 million needed to hold these firehouse primaries.  But Obama refused to help make it happen and now folks are ready to punish my family and the hundreds of thousands of other voters who turned out to vote for the actions of others.

Hillary went to Michigan to speak to voters at a local AFSCME hall in Detroit (an no - that trip did not violate the four state pledge).  Take a look...

Heart of a Champion

I worked all day and then went in to make phone calls as part of a Women For Hillary phone bank this evening.  I just got home and I'm zonked, and since I've been thinking of this old diary of mine from Feb. over the past few days, I thought this was a good time to re-post one of my favorites.  It points to the work Hillary's done over the years on our bahalf, and the heart of a champion that drives her to keep fighting for us every day.  Enjoy

(By the way - the phone bank went really well and Ann Lewis gave a kick-ass update and pep talk to our group of amazing and energetic phone bankers.  GO TEAM!)

I finally called it a day around 1am and as I was clearing out the dishes hubby left in the sink (sigh, again) I paused for a minute - leaned on the sink and thought... how in the HELL does Hillary keep on going in the face of the hate, the anger, the unfair media coverage, the sexism, and - tonight especially - this latest disappointment?

What drives this sister with the heart of a lioness?

Getting back into the White House?

Nooooo.  She's been there before.

Receiving more adulation and love from the MSM & the press (Tweety & Russert)?
Hardly!

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she is the very definition of a public servant.  She sees how much work there is to be done and she knows she's the one person who'll actually get results.  She's got a long history of public service and sticking up for those without a voice.
