Anybody catch McCain's oh-so-tasteful "celebrity" ad during one of the commercial breaks?

by rfahey22 2008-08-08 06:30PM | 0 recs

Fantastic. Very, very glad that they're running an ad like that during the opening ceremonies. Short on ideas, short on a plan. How long before those people in the poll who say they haven't heard enough about Mccain realize there's nothing else to hear?

it's not working

all the lies and corporate media favoritism and mcsame is still stuck at 43%

http://www.gallup.com/poll/109375/Gallup -Daily-Obama-Still-46-43.aspx

this week two different republican operatives noted mcsame is the well known brand and he should be ahead of the unknown quality prior to the conventions.

Re: it's not working

That, and he'll finally be at a financial disadvantage after the conventions (well, unless you count the RNC, Chamber of Commerce, and NRA, but they won't be 100% coordinated).  I feel like he needs to deliver the deathblow in August if he is to have any hope of winning.

Re: it doesn't have to

That's IF Obama doesn't pull one first. I think McCain probably believes not only that Obama won't attack, but also that he doesn't have anything to attack on. He's very, very wrong. They're going to hold back on character stuff until after the conventions, but by that point, Obama's platform will be abundantly clear and it won't match who they're trying to paint him as at all. To paraphrase Groucho Marx, "Who are you gonna believe? McCain or your own ears?"

Not to mention that two nasty books have already come out just this past week or so and neither has made a splash outside the usual areas.

Re: it doesn't have to

Supposedly Jeremiah wright has a new book coming out. That could mean the difference. If it's a political polemic, Obama's toast. If it's one of his OTHER books, one that's based on faith and family, the issue is finished once and for all.

Re: I warned everyone

That could only happen if Wright were more popular then Obama. Wright has no huge following outside of Chicago.

Re: I warned everyone

No, there are a number of ways it could happen. He could write a biography that paints Obama in a really unflattering light. He could write a genuine polemic that would force Obama to rebuke him and lose him some black turnout.

Re: I warned everyone

Maybe, I just don't believe that many black people are going to believe/support Wright, at least not enough to seriously hurt Obama.

I am Boycotting

these Olympics for many reasons.

I will NOT give china and credit and praise for what they do. This reminds me of the Nazi Olympics, but with OUR support and money helping to showcase them as the new economic, and soon to be, military superpower.

As you

revel in the spectacle of the Olympics, I hope you think of a few things like...

Darfur/Sudan, of the mistreatment of lower end workers and slave labor, of the 2.3 million jobs lost from the USA to China during the bush regime, the 1.4 TRILLION dollars we OWE china, of Fulan Gong (sp?), of TIBET, and on and on and on....

The opening ceremonies were spectacular to say the least. I saw the entire thing and did not see any political advertising, I wonder if they targeted certain cable systems instead of doing a national ad buy. I heard that both camps made multi million dollar buys.
