I wonder if this has been picked up yet. From my read there has been an investigation that has been going on in Florida for awhile. It would be interesting if Dems can get this onto the front pages. Yeah I know it's probably nothing as some would like to think. I think its just another example of the true nature of the GOP.
Arza's resignation avoids racial division in House
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Politicians can argue passionately about policy and then have a drink with each other. They can call each other liars in a debate and then shake hands at the end. They can impugn each other's integrity in an election, and congratulate the other when it's over.
But when someone in a public position makes a racial remark it opens old wounds that most people nowadays don't want to revisit.

Consultants who produce racist ads should be held accountable and their clients should be shamed. The racist ad against Harold Ford in Tennessee was done by Terry Nelson of Crosslink Strategy Group, based in Washington, DC. Nelson's other major client is...surprise, surprise... Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart's African-American and other customers should know the type of people who profit from their consumer dollars.

I never watch Meet The Press. But while channel surfing on Sunday night I came across a debate between George Allen and Jim Webb. Since a lot of people who post on this blog have informed me (in less than friendly language) that Webb is a "progressive" (despite ads which prominently feature Reagan in word and image) I decided to listen to him since he was the one Russert happened to be grilling.
Well, it turns that in 1979 Webb wrote an article from which Russert quoted him saying:
"No benefit can come to anyone from women serving in combat. ... Their presence at institutions dedicated to the preparation of men for combat command is poisoning that preparation. By attempting to sexually sterilize the Naval Academy environment in the name of equality, this country has sterilized the whole process of combat leadership training, and our military forces are doomed to suffer the consequences. ...
"I have never met a woman, including the dozens of female midshipmen I encountered during my recent semester as a professor at the Naval Academy, whom I would trust to provide those men with combat leadership."

Is anybody out there still seriously arguing that George Allen isn't an outright racist? Well, read this, just published by The Nation magazine:
Only a decade ago, as governor of Virginia, Allen personally initiated an association with the Council of Conservative Citizens, the successor organization to the segregationist White Citizens Council and among the largest white supremacist groups.

As a real Anglo-Saxon who can trace my roots to way
before the Norman invasion of England in 1066 C.E.
I am always amused at the ignorance of those no
brainers who think they belong to some sort of Master
This guy Senator George Allen is no exception.
Steeped in abysmal ignorance about the Human Race and
its myriad ethnic groups. Swallowing, hook, line and
sinker the myths generated by Hitlers' NAZI party and
others of that ilk.
From time to time I have interesting and amusing
online chats with some of these so called Racial
Supremecists. After stating PROUDLY their Anglo Saxon
and Aryan lineage, turn out to have a name like
'Kelly','McKay', or 'Presley' and so on.
