At the beginning of this year I entered the world of blogging by discovering Daily Kos, MyDD and others and starting my own German Blog. In the past I was unable to take part in campaigns since I'm not a U.S. citizen and since I live in Germany. Thanks to the blogosphere, and mainly to Daily Kos and MyDD, I have become involved, mainly blogging about Nevada Campaigns.
Ten years ago I was an exchange student on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. Today I started a new Blog called "Turn Tahoe Blue". I intend to draw attention to all campaigns in the Tahoe area, whether they are federal, state-wide or local. In the process I hope to help turn Tahoe blue.

Jill Derby's campaign to succeed incumbent Jim Gibbons (R) is clearly getting some mojo. After outraising her Republican opponents in Q1 of this year and getting within the margin of error against her mostly likely opponent and being picked for the DCCC's current Red to Blue list, the encouraging news of the day comes from unlikely quarters.
Former Rep. Barbara Vucanovich (R), who held this seat from 1982 until 1996, has this to say about Jill Derby's chances: "I think her chances are very good".
More below the fold.

On Tuesday, Nebraska and West Virginia hold their primary elections. Friday marks the last day of the candidate filing period in Florida and Nevada. This weekend Utah, Minnesota and Illinois host district and state conventions. The 2006 election season is in full swing and Democrats are ready.
Governor Howard Dean said it best this weekend on ABC's "This Week":
"We want real change in this country, and that's the central election issue. Do you want more of the same, or do you want real change? Because the Democrats are ready to lead again."
