MSNBC relents will air anti-gun ad

I posted a Diary a few days back about MSNBC's refusal to run an anti-gun ad.  They have relented and decided to air it.  Thanks for your emails (if anybody sent them).  Here Is what I wrote a few days back:

"

Mayors Againss Illegal Guns, a group created by Mike Bloomberg, is attempting to air the anti-gun ad on MSNBC.  Sadly MSNBC found the ad to be too "controversial." The ad simply show the three presidential candidates making commitments to close "gun-show loopholes" and then various mayors calling for them to be closed.

features each of the three leading presidential candidates pledging to make it harder to buy guns at gun shows, and images of three mayors urging viewers to call Congress and ask that a bill closing the "gun-show loophole" be passed.  Fox and CNN are airing the ad, yet MSNBC (of all stations) is refusing.

And email from an MSNBC exec reads, "just heard back from legal about your script...unfortunately, we can not accept as it is a controversial issue ad," said the email from the account executive."

Handwriting's on the Wall... Err Questionnaire

I just love Fact Hub - it's a great way to keep up with the campaign and as far as tongiht's debate gots, they've alreayd got a couple things up.  Take a look at something they caught regarding a bit of a flub-up of Obama's during the debate tonight...

Sen. Obama's Handwriting Appears On Questionnaire Supporting Total Handgun Ban

Tonight, Sen. Obama flatly denied his handwriting appeared on a questionnaire where he expressed his support for a total gun ban:

Gibson: But do you still favor the registration of guns? Do still you favor the licensing of guns? And in 1996, you - your campaign issued a questionnaire. And your writing was on the questionnaire that said you favored a ban on handguns.

Gun touting citizenry endorses Obama

Today, in a latest "fallout" from "bitter"-gate the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA), composed mainly of gun touting citizens endorsed Obama.

As a gun rights organization we have not come to this decision lightly.  We were formed two years ago because our research shows that millions of gun owners wanted a change.  They not only wanted an organization that would protect their gun rights but an organization that was also committed to the protection of their communities as well as the protection of our lands.

We reached out to the Obama campaign several weeks ago to offer our support and approval as was reported by Paul Bedard of US News and World Report.

We believe recent attacks on Senator Obama's stand on the 2nd Amendment and his commitment to our hunting and shooting heritage are unfair and American Hunters and Shooters Association is stepping up to set the record straight.

This makes this pro-gun liberal very happy.
