Russ Feingold has won the moral authority to lead the Democratic Party. If the Inside-the-Beltway Democratic Establishment's triangulating, manipulating, and power-playing makes all patriots want to vomit-- and if you're paying any attention, it should-- Russ Feingold is a perfect antidote. He makes me remember why I vote Democrat. I don't have to look at him and say, "Well, at least he's better than a Republican."
I suppose, unfortunately, there is a need for low-down scumbags and monstrosities like Rahm Emanuel in a political party. Where the Republicans committed suicide was by letting their version (Tom DeLay) take over the whole party. Emanuel should be kept firmly in check so his undemocratic instincts never undermine the essence of the Democratic Party in a way that blurs the difference between Democrats and Republicans. A weak and dependent Nancy Pelosi is no more able to reign in Emanuel than DeLay's puppet, Denny Hastert, was able to reign in DeLay.

Barbara Boxer is my hero! What a great senator! Courageous and with great instincts. Sure, I know that The Washingtonian's "Best & Worst of Congress" issue show that congressional staffers voted her to rank just under Rick Santorum when it comes to the "No Brain" department (barely beating out well-known dim bulb George Allen), but I'm proud as hell to have a senator who can be counted on to stand up to Bush more than any other senator in the whole U.S. And that's worth a couple IQ points in my book.

The past couple months, there have been many accusations from people (including myself) of the DCCC recruiting giving support to Tammy Duckworth while ignoring Christine Cegelis. The argument from many Duckworth supporters is that the DCCC was not getting involved, it was just individuals who happen to run the DCCC (like Rahm Emmanuel) who decided to jump in on their own.
I think today's online chat with DCCC Executive Director has cleared up that controversy. In that brief chat, he took the opportunity to mention Duckworth's name specifically three times, in response to two different questions. One of the questions was about veterans running for congress, so I'll let that one slide (even though he didn't make mention of the other 50 or so Fighting Dems), but the other question was specifically about Patrick Murphy in PA-08.
I'm a huge Duckwroth fan. Check out her website -- www.tammyduckworthforcongress.com -- and recent THIS WEEK WITH GEORGE appearance
I hope this clears up any confusion of whether the DCCC is or is not supporting Tammy Duckworth.[Update]
jakester points out the money quote that I somehow missed:"We have been actively working with veterans running for Congress. We couldn't be more proud and excited about people like Tammy Duckworth and Patrick Murphy to name a few. Helping them build good teams, providing strategic advice, and building the resources necessary to run a modern campaign.

Most people who have been following the Randy "Duke" Cunningham case have realized that Cunningham going off to jail for a decade after pleading guilty to taking millions of dollars in bribes from defense contractors while he sat on Congressional Defense and Intelligence committees, is far from the conclusion of this revolting episode of Republican rule in Washington. What about all those co-conspirators named in the indictment? What about his partners in crime, from Jerry Lewis (R-CA), John Doolittle (R-CA) and Duncan Hunter (R-CA) to Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Tom DeLay (R-TX)? And what about the actual bribers who paid the millions and got the lucrative government contracts in return?

Read the piece linked here and weep!
Most folks seem to think that, come November, each party will be a couple of seats away from controlling the US House. The lefty 'sphere has rightly been proclaiming a 50 state strategy for months. No stone unturned. Every district counts.
And a bunch of Dem morons in OH quite likely have managed by their gross incompetence to ensure that OH-6 - #5 in the National Journal list of the 25 most vulnerable House seats (my earlier piece) - stays in the GOP column!
