Ga. Secretary of State Asks DOJ to OK Discriminatory Voter Verification Procedure

Cross posted to Project Vote's Voting Matters Blog

A Georgia voter list maintenance procedure that the Department of Justice shut down as "discriminatory" in May is being brought up again by Secretary of State Karen Handel, who asked the Department to reconsider its decision and grant preclearance last Wednesday. This appeal has brought the disappointment of voting rights advocates and, if successful, could result in the disenfranchisement of thousands of legitimate voters.

LOU DOBBS - AMERICAN OR MEXICAN?

A news release from the Citizen Research Council today cast doubt on the citizenship of CNN commentator Lou Dobbs. According to the Council's spokesman Roger Smith, the research was prompted by recent support he has given to the "birthers", a Republican fringe group that questions President Obama' s status as a U.S. citizen qualified to be president. The group igtonores clear evidence of Obama's birth in Hawaii, choosing to continue to claim serious doubts.

The Council's research revealed that in September 1945 a Lou Dobbs was born in Juarez, Mexico, the son of an American man and a Swedish economist. No evidence was found to indicate that Mr. Dobbs had qualified to be a U.S citizen.

So Lou Dobbs may be a Mexican and, according to security experts, could have a problem getting through the border fence to return to his native land.

Do we want a separtist with easy access to the centers of power in the nation?

What would it mean to have a Vice President (likely President) sleeping with a separtist?

This question is essentially absent from the pages of traditional media.

Imagine if Michelle Obama were a registered member of the Black Panthers until 2002?  Imagine the drumbeat of outrage that all Americans would hear.  About Todd "My Guy" Palin's separtist credentials?  Crickets chirping in the night ...

Sarah Palin has not just sleeping with a separtist but clearly seems to be in the realm of fellow traveler.

Voter Purging Back With A Vengeance - 2008 Could See Multiple Florida 2000's

Weekly Voting Rights News Update

By Erin Ferns

In 2000, Florida's disastrous effort to purge former felons from voter rolls resulted in the disenfranchisement of hundreds if not thousands of legitimate voters and clearly influenced the outcome of the presidential contest in that state. History may repeat itself this November with states taking potentially reckless and unlawful measures to clean voter rolls before Election Day.
