MyDD is a business, and because we get money from ads, we don't have to rely on rich people, corporations, or bad single-issue groups, and so we can say what we really think without having to worry about offending people. We can just offend them and they have to deal with it. It's a pretty cool deal.
Anyway, I'm going to start thanking our advertisers every week. They are trying to sell stuff, but they are also supporting the work we do.
Use this as an open thread to discuss progressives, money, and advertising. And here are the advertisers who allow MyDD to happen.
On Native Soil, a documentary on 9/11 by CourtTV
Meet Your Meat, a documentary site about the meat industry and its regulatory problems. Ew. Yet oddly compelling.
LangevinEqualsLieberman.com, a site done by progressive challenger Jennifer Lawless against Rhode Island conservative Democrat Jim Langevin
Debunking 9/11 Myths, by Popular Mechanics
Real Time with Bill Maher, on HBO, which returns on August 25 at 11pm

Yesterday I posted a diary on DailyKOS. You can go read it there, but if you do please come back here since I have been kicked off DailyKOS and will not be able to post any comments there anymore.
As a result of the discussion and comments about my diary I am happy to announce that I have changed my registration to the Green Party. I also canceled my Democracy Bond and will not be giving any more money to the Democratic Party in the future.
I don't know how long this diary will last on MyDD, but I think that it is an important issue involving our entire political system and the fate of our country. I will attempt to diary my experience yesterday and my rationale for switching parties for those who are interested. I will also try to respond to those that posted questions in the comments yesterday.

I blogged about this on Kos, so it's a sort of, yet sort of not cross-post. I'll post in the extended part what I did in the extended there, but MyDD has the same ad up. It's the one with the water tower stating "Keller, Home of the Indians", then stating below that:
TV Freedom will bring competition and choice to America.
The House of Representatives acted, now it's time for the Senate to finish the job.
Tell your Senator it's time for competition and choice.
So, if you click on that, you go to...

If you've traveled around the state, you may have noticed: sometimes we do things a little differently in Montana. On occasion, we act different, dress different, or look different.
I oughta know.
For the past 15 years I've been going to get my hair cut at the same barber, Bill Graves at Riverview Barbershop. Bill's been running his Great Falls small business for 40 years, and now works with his granddaughter, Megan.

Take the new survey
. It is vitally important to the continued progress of the political blogosphere. This survey remains just about the best source of information on who reads political blogs
. If we can't tell advertisers who you are, they won't advertise. It's that simple.Take the new survey
