Where are we headed as a Nation?

Where are we headed as a Nation?

By Chuck Adkins

As I sit here this evening, I have about three things that I would really like to write about.  However, because I really do not want to write three different editorials, I am hoping I can combine all three streams of thought into one well-written editorial.  I figure, hell, shoot for the moon, and if I happen to hit mars too, even better. No, I am not trying to do a bad imitation of Molly Ivins.  She was writing snarky articles about Republicans, when I was still pooping green.  Besides, she was a much better writer that I will ever be.

***ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS A JOKE*****

As an Aftrican Amerian whom is 37 years of age and has experienced all kind of discrimination in the country I find that people are selfish by nature and when they are unhappy they look at others and find fault with their action without find the real reason why they are not happy.

I really do not care about immigration in no form or fashion. If someone is unhappy about their current state of living and not breaking the law (killing, stealing, rape)to have a better life why not let them come even if it is illegal.

If one thousand (1,000)people came over from Europe,Sweden, and Australia illegally per month and start working the same low paying jobs as hispanic people would we still have the same conversation about immigration reform and spending billions on a fence that will never be built. I do not think so.

The real issue is racism. Anytime that a person of color does something white America (not all) feels threaten.

I love American and all people. The only thing I dislike is the intentions and actions behind the words spoken and they usually divides us as a nation.

AZ-01: Simon represents a real threat to Renzi

I'm glad someone is finally paying attention to the race in Arizona's 1st congressional. This morning on Fox News, Ellen Ramer of Talk Radio News predicted that Ellen Simon, one of three Democrats running for the seat, would give Republican Rick Renzi a run for his money:

"I have a childhood friend, Ellen Simon, she's running as a Democrat in Arizona, District 1. She'll go against Renzi. That's always been considered a safe Republican seat. But she is a Democrat now, who I think has the message. And I think she's going to be one of those seats the Republicans have always counted on and she will probably wind up winning."

The Fox News commentator's response? To attack Simon's position on illegal immigration. Because Simon represents a real threat to Renzi, a man named one of the "13 Most Corrupt" legislators in Congress, Republicans are trying to gain traction on one of the only issues that they haven't made a complete disaster of - yet. After destroying their credibility nearly every major issue through the debacles in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, Terri Schiavo, gay marriage, and so on, Republicans are once again relying on security issues to scare the public into voting Republican in the midterms.

The truth is Renzi is vulnerable, and Republicans are running scared.
