Rescuing our Environment from one of the Worst Members of Congress

Crossposted from dKos

Last month, I announced my New Bill of Rights. This Declaration is my way of expanding upon the Rights listed in FDR's 1944 State of the Union message to Congress, which I have touched upon in some of my more recent DailyKos Diaries. I know that the way forward for the Democratic Party is to stand with the people against President Bush and the Rubberstamp Republicans, who have taken the side of Corporatists rather than the American family. Together, I know we can make this world a better place.

This is the fourth in a ten part series where we will discuss some of the most important issues facing the American people today. I want to hear your opinions and thoughts on each and every one of these topics. Normally, I hold a weekly liveblog right here from 3-6 pm Eastern Time, but today I have a number of meetings and thus cannot make it.  Please do leave me your thoughts and questions though and I will return to answer them as soon as possible.

No Timetables? No Deal!

This past week, the story on the presses has been that the Republicans won and the Democrats lost the Iraq timetable battle. I want to let you know how deeply committed I was to forcing veto from the White House.

Today I am going to break from the schedule. Rather than publishing the fourth edition from my New Bill of Rights, I thought that I should just go from the gut.  There is a whole lot of heart in what I am about to write and some of it is not entirely political advisable from the point of view of a junior candidate.

Live Blog: Reviving our Middle Class by fixing our Trade Policies

Two weeks ago, I announced my Declaration of Rights Which have Been Denied. This Declaration is my way of expanding upon the Rights listed in FDR's 1944 State of the Union message to Congress, which I have touched upon in some of my more recent DailyKos Diaries. I know that the way forward for the Democratic Party is to stand with the people against President Bush and the Rubber Stamp Republicans who have sold us out in favor of Corporate Interests by denying the People these important Rights. There are many Beltway Insiders who dislike my stances, but I really don't care... I want to serve the people of the 29th District, not the K Street Lobbyists.

Live Blogging: Wage War on Terror: Fix US Health Care System

Crossposted from dKos

First off, I want wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there. I spent the morning quietly celebrating this day with my lovely wife Beverly and two of our three children.  The love between a parent and a child is sacred, and I believe that we owe it to all children to always strive to make this world the best it can be. One way to do this is to take a hard, honest look at our broken healthcare system and then dedicate ourselves to making sure all families have quality, affordable healthcare.

On Thursday, I explained in detail my personal experiences as a cancer survivor, my positions on fixing our corporate Healthcare System, and my strong conviction that Single Payer Healthcare is ultimately the best possible solution to the problem of overpriced medical treatment. I'd ask that you first read that post first, and then return here to share your thoughts and questions with me between 3 and 6pm Eastern time.

On Elections and Democracy in NY-29

Recently I have become disturbed by some of the goings on in the democratic process here in upstate NY.  For those of you who are unaware, last week David Nachbar, an executive with Bausch Lomb in Rochester, NY declared his candidacy for Congress in New York's 29th district.  As many of you already know NY-29 is currently held by Republican Randy Kuhl who last year beat out upstart challenger Eric Massa.

In the matter of full disclosure it should be noted that several months ago I started the Draft Eric Massa for NY-29 Website in an attempt to help keep his name out in the open while he was deciding whether or not to run again.  Of course, although the website is still up, its purpose was short-lived since shortly after (read less than two weeks)its inception Eric declared that he would once again run for Congress in NY-29.  As a citizen I myself have been struck with the power Eric uses in his speeches. My brother Chris and I had a chance to hear him speak during an after-debate rally hosted by Eric closing our help paint my backyard blue series. In short, the point I am trying to make here is that I have been a supporter of Eric Massa and that I intend to continue my support of Mass into the future.

However, the vehement reaction against David Nachbar's announcement found on many blogs written by many people whom I respect and consider to be my friends herehere and here along with the backlash created against Louise Slaughter's by her "supposed" involvement in this decision leaves me greatly troubled.
