CPAC: UnCool, and Edwards is "a 'Faggot"

So I watched a bit of CPAC on C-Span, and Ann Coulter was up giving a generic rhetorically ridiculous speech.  At a certain point, she said "I would talk about Edwards but I've heard that you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot'".  And then during the Q&A, Coulter answered a question from a college student on how to combat apathy with 'Show Ronald Reagan movies and start a Joe McCarthy club, those are my best ideas'.  I have to say, the whole conservative charade seems a bit tired.  I can't imagine anything less appealing to college students or really anyone than a Joe McCarthy club or Ronald Reagan movies.  That is so seriously uncool, not in the sense that it's bad, but in the sense that it's just remarkably unfun.

Anyway, one thing to keep in mind, aside from the conservative uncoolness, is that she called a major Democratic candidate a faggot.  Ok, she's an entertainer, so whatever.  But keep in mind that prior to her appearance, most major Republican Presidential candidates appeared on the stage to make appeals to the audience.

I wonder if they support Coulter's statement.  Do they think it's appropriate to call John Edwards a faggot?

UPDATE: Thinkprogress has the video.

UPDATE AGAIN: I called a contact at the Edwards campaign for a response. Nothing yet. It would be stupid to respond to Coulter, but it's a good idea to hang Coulter around Romney and Giuliani's neck.

Congresspedia and Sunlight at the Conservative Political Action Conference

I'm at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC representing Congresspedia and the Sunlight Foundation. So far it's been a great opportunity to tap into the conservative community's zeitgeist and find out what upcoming issues in Congress they are most interested in. I've had particularly interesting conversations with the folks from the National Rifle Association, American Foreign Policy Council, National Center for Public Policy Research and the Heritage Foundation about what they're working on.

CPAC Gives Up

Um, long-time listener, first-time caller.  I've been reading mydd.com since the jerome days, and have checked four or five times a days since '04.  So there's about 38 cents of ad revenue with my name on them.
