Senator Clinton walked back to Senate amongst standing ovation from her Senate colleagues. "Clinton gave a short speech saying she was glad to be back and planned to do everything she could to help Obama win the White House and Democrats win races across the country."
The fallen front-runner -- now simply New York's junior senator -- walked into the Democrats' weekly caucus lunch to a forks-on-glasses serenade and standing ovation from 40 Senate colleagues.
"Glad to be here, my friends, glad to be here," Clinton said as she made her way past a greeting party of interns from her office and well-wishers on the Capitol steps.
Clinton, who will appear at her first joint public rally with presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama in Unity, N.H., Friday, is learning to face life as a senator after seven years as a candidate and candidate-in waiting. She took her first steps toward the commonplace Tuesday afternoon, telling caucus members she planned to be an active advocate for their agenda and promising to campaign for Democratic candidates around the country if called upon.

Bill Clinton extended his full support today to Senator Obama's campaign promising to do everything to help Obama win the Presidential election.
Bill Clinton extended his support to Obama for the first time Tuesday in a one-sentence statement from spokesman Matt McKenna.
"President Clinton is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States," McKenna said.

Despite all the negativity in the reports and efforts of media to portray Clintons as poor losers and manufacture fissures within Democratic party, it is clear that the Democratic party is getting unitedly behind Senator Obama. It is also clear that HRC and Bill C. are rapidly joining forces with Senator Obama to help him win the White House during November election.
It is time for us, all of their supporters to follow their example and support Senator Obama.
Our show was recorded before the shocking news about Tim Russert's death. We are tremendously saddened by the news and offer our deepest sympathies to his family.
I've been traveling for a couple of weeks, and see that MYDD is a bit quiet now the primary season is over. But let's hope this is a temporary rest. We need to get our energy back. There's plenty of work to do
Those of us who have survived the primary season, regardless of candidates, have experienced a baptism of fire. Our debating skills are honed. Our troll awareness acute. And in the donjon of our internecine battles, we've probably learned more about ourselves than we intended.
Now it's time to use these virtual combat skills against the republicans
Let's get in some training my fellow MYDD Ninjas
Breaking schmooze: Obama headed here on Monday
By Deb Peterson
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
If anyone has anymore details, please share. I MUST be there if it's open to the public, but I thought others in the state/area may want to know.
Stop with the pitchforks, people! I don't like Kucinich either!
And to be honest, I don't like Obama's Health Care plan either (kindly accept my apologies for the hyperbole above. I just like alliteration).
They are both broken, both keep corporate and wall street interests involved. As far as I am concerned, they are both failed plans.
This is not to say that they would not improve matters. Far from it. But... They aren't panaceas, and they don't fix the big problems.
Nonprofit health care is what we should be shooting for, a place where everyone can be insured, and no one has to worry about anything.
Not a place where kids die from toothaches.
They both have flaws, and I'm sick to death of people saying "but he/she's is better!" Because to me that's splitting hairs. And we can do better than that.
(P.S. my last diary title was not snarky. So there!)
Clinton no progressive.
I protested the forthcoming invasion of Iraq in the winter of 2002-2003 on the streets. Women with me received death threats. Clinton chose to betray at that moment with a craven, opportunistic vote to authorize force. Contrary to what she now says, it was crystal clear at that time that an invasion was going down. I'm not a starry-eyed pacificist- I supported the Afghanistan war.
I call B.S. on anyone who calls themselves a "progressive" and supports Clinton. The Iraq vote and her lies about opposing NAFTA demonstrate that she is almost entirely untrustworthy, and that she is a neo-con on foreign policy and an unrestricted free-trader. Her well-attested (Theda Skocpol is a reliable source) contempt for white working class voters, expressed in the conferences after the 1994 loss of Congress makes her attacks on Obama as an "elitist" look especially disingenuous. Her failure to get health care reform passed in the early 1990s, as well as her current predicament in the campaign (trailing in delegates and in the popular vote) show that she is not a particularly competent manager.
Clinton comes from money, and her most strongly demonstrated desire throughout life has been to be one of the "insiders" - close to power. Rose Law Firm, Walmart board, etc., etc. This desire trumps everything. Certainly Obama is also ambitious, but I haven't seen in his campaign that his ambition trumps everything - decency, the Democratic Party etc. His campaign has yet to use Whitewater, Travelgate, etc., against Clinton, while Clinton has not hesitated to meet with Richard Mellen Scaife, her former persecutor, in order to use Wright against Obama.
I have never voted for a candidate because of their gender or race, and I call B.S. on feminists who insist on voting for Hillary because she is a woman, and who label every attack on her as misogynist (some are, some aren't).
What I am pissed about, and what makes me unpleasant to Clinton supporters, is that she has revealed herself clearly in recent months as Lieberman II. Those of us among the despised Democratic "activists" who remember the insanity of the run-up to the Iraq war will not and should forgive Clinton's vote for it, until she actually demonstrates awareness that she made a mistake. Which she does not. Indeed, she threatens to nuke Iran, in a fit of pathetic overblown macho rhetoric that seems designed to appeal to the Limbaugh/Instapundit crowd more than Democratic primary voters.
The Obama campaign received 55 Million dollars in this month - ( according to monsters and critics). This is the highest amount of money ever given by the American people to any one person or campaign in one month, in the history of the US.
Another , more modest point of history. Rolling Stone Magazine has endorsed Barack Obama for President. This is another first. Rolling Stone made it through the Sixties, 70's and all the way up to present date without ever endorsing a candidate.
I am not sure why Rolling Stone jumped in, but in their official endorsment with a cover story on Obama to follow in the next edition - they wrote:
Obama has emerged by displaying precisely the kind of character and judgment we need in a president: renouncing the politics of fear, speaking frankly on the most pressing issues facing the country and sticking to his principles. He recognizes that running for president is an opportunity to inspire an entire nation.
-Jann S. Wenner, Rolling Stone Magazine
Speaking personally, making history is kind of inspiring. In my state, Obama won by such a huge margin (almost 20 percent) and with all time record turnout. I am curious if there is a third history making precedent being set: voter participation.
Turnout and voter participation are likely going to top all time records. I suspect its because of Obama. I noticed that people all around the world are interested in this election. Its almost like the entire world is watching us to see what happens. So, I think we can agree this is a big election and the cause of this large turnout is one that history will have to settle. Do you think we have been seeing such large turnout because of the challenge mounted by Obama, or Hillary ? Let me know!
Update [2008-3-7 15:8:26 by Trey Rentz]: Rolling Stone has made endorsements before. Al Gore was given as an example. My apologies. I meant to say that this was the first endorsement that they ever given during a primary .These say everything that needs to be said.
