It's projected that Hillary Clinton will have more popular votes than Barack Obama on June 3rd. Some news organizations have already declared her the popular vote leader.
Yet many party officials seem anxious to coronate Barack Obama prior to the Democratic convention. They must have short memories, and have forgotten the sense of outrage and injustice we (the Democrats) experienced when Al Gore was robbed of his election mandate 8 years ago.
"Hillary Democrats" will feel aggrieved if the Superdelegates over-turn their votes. It's naive to assume that they'll jump on the Unity Express to join forces against Republican enemies in November. Millions of Democrats (and some others too) -- the majority of whom belong to that key demographic called women -- are already steaming mad at how Clinton is being treated by her colleagues, aided by a misogynist mass media.
As a reminder, Hillary Clinton has dedicated decades of her life to fighting for progressive causes and Democratic candidates. She is a 2-term Senator from the 3rd largest state in the union, and a major voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. At the end of this primary process, she will have inspired nearly 20 million people to get out and vote for her. Millions of them are just like me -- actively campaigning and donating for the first time in our lives.
Now, this takes nothing away from Senator Obama, as he has also inspired millions of people. But he's getting the respect due from Democratic peers while Hillary Clinton -- champion of children and sick people and veterans and women -- is being treated like a nuisance. Some have even attacked her character and dignity, such as Obama surrogate Ted Kennedy who recently said that Clinton is not "in tune with...the nobler aspirations of the American people."
In the absence of a rational explanation for this abuse, millions of women (and men too) are fuming because, frankly, it reeks of good ole fashioned back-slapping sexism. I'm not alone in wondering out loud whether a man in Clinton's position -- that is, a serious contender for the presidential nomination who has won swing states (most recently by 41%) and built a formidable coalition needed to win the White House -- would be taunted, ridiculed, and treated like an outcast.
As a woman who has been on the receiving end of double standards, and one who happens to believe that Hillary Clinton will be the best President of my lifetime, I want to urge Senator Clinton to take her campaign all the way to the convention floor. By earning more than half the votes cast, she has every right to make her case directly to party representatives in the proper venue, and even a responsibility to the voters.
See, this is the way it is for Clinton supporters. If you throw Hillary under the bus, we go with her. And although our leader would be gracious in asking us to disregard the injustice, millions of "Hillary Democrats" will be unable to do so. "Backlash" is a real social and psychological phenomenon. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Note: please don't shoot the messenger.
While the media vultures swarm around Hillary Clinton declaring her candidacy dead. While the DNC leaders try to sway Super Delegates to see it their way and get behind Barack Obama. While the Obama campaign and supporters try to convince upcoming voters that they may as well get with the program and vote for him because, afterall, SHE can't win.
While the negative attacks continue against Hillary Clinton to drive up her unfavorable ratings and drive down her poll numbers, while everything (again) is stacked against her - what does Hillary Clinton do?
She defies the odds, the media and the DNC. Instead of giving up, Hillary lays out a bold and progressive agenda for America.
Hillary Clinton, with all her human shortcomings continues to amaze even her detractors as she shows us why she is the most progressive candidate running for President.
While everyone else is analyzing delegate numbers and calculating spreadsheets - Hillary shows us what she will do as Commander in Chief, where she wants to take our country and how she will lead America in a positive, global direction.
Like it or not the United States is considered a global player and in some minds a global leader. Senator Obama has reminded the global public as to why they admire Americans. President George W Bush has of course reminded us as to why we love to hate Americans.
Senator Obama is playing a totally different game from his rivals? What will it symbolize to the planet if a Black man is elected to the highest office? Why has Senator Obama created so much excitement globally? Like it or not we are not just electing a president of the United States but a person who will have great influence and the momentum to change the planet. To elect Senator Obama would be telling the world we still have a dream, we are still optimists, and we are still a wonderful country with amazing people who want to help our brothers and sisters. Senator Obama is breaking the color barrier because it isn't about color it's about great ideas and the courage to dream
again without fear.
Nothing is going to change unless we put an end to this damn war...
During the Iowa democratic presidential debate last Thursday; Hillary Clinton once again claimed to have the "experience" to lead, and lead on day one.
Well, we all know after you have won anything, you don't lead on day one. I don't know about you, but my experience tells me that on day one, we party, we're generous on day one. Some people call their long gone friends, ex girl friends just to say hello. When you move to an apartment, we settle on day one,we don't lead.
And unfortunately for Hillary, she will not lead on day 1, 2, 2, 4,......999999999999...99
Based on result, her leadership and experience aren't for squad! She is the author of this biggest foreign policy disaster in our generation, she failed back then to demonstrate the quality of judgment required to be president. Some would say that she was fooled by George Bush. Perhaps, but if George Bush can fool her that easily, is there more to expect from her when she meets with smart war leaders?
But George Bush was not the only person who fooled her. Bill Clinton fooled her many times, and the last I can remember was with Monica Lewinsky, the famous Whitehouse intern.
But Monica Lewinsky was not the only person. There is a new story about Bill Clinton fooling around with a Canadian politician /billionnaire Belinda Stronach. Most of this story was written during the time she [Belinda Stronach] was running for the leadership of Canada's Conservative Party.
After she lost the leadership race, she was elected an MP and became a member of the opposition cabinet. She basically did next to nothing there, and then jumped ship to the Liberals just in time to prevent the most corrupts government from falling. They made her a government Minister (just by coincidence, really) at the same time. Again she did nothing there and in a few months they fell anyway and she was expected to run for the Liberal leadership, but showed her first sign of intelligence by keeping out of it.
Now that brings me the life and times of Norman Hsu, the Hong-Kong native, now fugitive who fooled Hillary Clinton -
Matthew Mosk writes in the Washingtonpost.com, (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail
/2007/09/21/hsu_still_a_hillraiser_at_le
as.html),that when it was first suggested, at the end of August, the Hsu had bundled checks from an odd collection of donors, Hillary Clinton campaign stood loyally behind the top donor. [Poor judgment]
The following day, when it became clear Hsu had spent 15 years fleeing a criminal past; the campaign distanced itself from Hsu, announcing it would give his direct donations to charity. And when Hsu's business ventures began to fall under suspicion, the campaign dumped Hsu and the $850,000 he bundled for them, telling news outlets they had been duped, just as had scores of other politicians.
Now the Post reported that the Justice department has unsealed a criminal complaint against Hsu, detailing alleged campaign finance abuses and what they alleged to be a $60 million Ponzi scheme.
But one step the campaign has not taken is to remove Hsu from its official list of Hillraisers. As of this morning, his name still appeared there.
Before casting your vote, you should be asking yourself where her leadership is and judgment in all this is "saletés".
