Rep. Nadler, what are you waiting for?

Let's look at some the events of the last few days, to see what they have in common:

1) Dennis Kucinich introduced a single new article of impeachment against the president, for his and his administration's lying us into a disastrous and illegal war;

2) Karl Rove not only failed to appear before the HJC on Thursday after being subpoenaed, but he skipped the country without notifying Congress(!);

3) Nancy Pelosi, in her signature style (vague, ambiguous, and vague again), made a statement which seemed to leave the door open for impeachment hearings (back on the table?);

4) I, Adam Sullivan, filed well in excess of the number of required petition signatures to gain ballot access for the Democratic primary here in NYC, where I am challenging Jerrold Nadler for his seat representing New York's Eighth Congressional District in the House.

From my perspective, this is a strong list of reasons for Mr. Nadler--who chairs the Subcommittee of the Judiciary on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties--to change his position on seeking to initiate impeachment hearings.

The time is now, we must not falter no matter what the consequences

Okay, I'm done pussyfooting around. I don't care about the repercussions, because the reason I want a Democrat elected, is to restore democracy to our country. I think that GWB has set a dangerous precedent for future administrations by expanding exponentially executive privilege. We can still win while holding this administration accountable. To wit, the email I sent her just now can be viewed below.

TUESDAY: Kucinich to Make Motion Tonight on Impeachment

AfterDowningStreet.org says that tonight, TUESDAY EVENING, the Clerk of the House is expected to read the articles of impeachment, which should take about 5 hours, at the conclusion of which Rep. Kucinich will make a motion. Watch C-Span.

Call your congressman.

Bush Must Be Impeached Now!

If there is one thing that Dennis Kucinich has, it's the courage to tell the truth, even when the deck is stacked against him. In this case he has an entire Congress (or most of them) that seem to want go along to get along. It will be a cold day in hell when the Articles of Impeachment that he delivered in Congress last night, all 35 of them, ever get out of the Committee where they will sit on them until the new elections , mainly because the majority of Democrats in the House have no sense of justice and of course, no spine.

I was glued to C-Span last night. I was mesmerized by the litany of abuses that this sitting President has perpetrated on not only the people of America, but the World. Step by step, Kucinich meticulously brought every charge against George W. Bush and backed those charges up with times, dates and testimony from Administration insiders. This Congressman has done his homework; there was not a single thing I believe he missed. There were a few things that I didn't even know this President was responsible for, and I follow him like a hawk.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich read each charge in the same way. He always invoked the phrase that Bush failed to live up to his oath and protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. He ten went to Article 2, section 3 that he must he must faithfully execute the laws of the land. Rep. Kucinich went on to make 35 charges against the President. He mentioned the flawed intelligence leading up to the Iraq War that The President had prior knowledge of and he used this flawed knowledge to deceive Congress. He talked of the White House Iraq Group (WHIG) which issued White Papers with fraudulent information that Iraq was manufacturing nuclear weapons.

For some, Kucinich's exit leaves an uncomfortable lack of boldness in the 2008 campaign

Today, Dennis Kucinich announced that he would end his presidential bid. It is not that surprising for a candidate who failed to attract a significant amount of support throughout his many campaigns for the office. Why did he fail to win that support, though? Those who try to assail him will just say that he is a wild-eyed liberal, a fallacious ad hominem attack. Even if he may be identified as such in terms of his policy proposals, the value of those proposals is certainly not diminished by those who criticize him.

Have a little fun with this candidate quiz

I know it isn't too serious, but I thought some of you might be amused by this quiz to find out which candidate you line up with most closely. It is a bit simplistic, but still fun and amusing...
For my part, I am sad to report that I apparently line up most closely with Mike Gravel. shudders

"I'm Dennis Kucinich, B*tch!"

I had already made plans to skip the presumed Bud vs. Bud Light vitriol on tonight's MSNBC debate.  Time can be better spent, don't you think?  What living room pursuit can beat a bottle of merlot and an entire season of "The Wire" on DVD?  And on a weeknight, even?

Well those plans are possibly going to change, and for good reason.

Kucinich tells supporters to back OBAMA

Funny there's been no diary about this...what a surprise...

Kucinich urges supporters to back Obama...Posted: Tuesday, January 01, 2008 3:58 PM by Mark Murray

...if he doesn't meet the 15% threshold in Thursday's Iowa caucuses. Kucinich made a similar endorsement of Edwards back in 2004, and that (among many other things) helped Edwards finish second in Iowa that year. "This is obviously an 'Iowa-only' recommendation, as Sen. Obama and I are competing in the New Hampshire primary next Tuesday where I want to be the first choice of New Hampshire voters," Kucinich said in a statement."

"I hope Iowans will caucus for me as their first choice this Thursday, because of my singular positions on the war, on health care, and trade. This is an opportunity for people to stand up for themselves. But in those caucus locations where my support doesn't reach the necessary threshold, I strongly encourage all of my supporters to make Barack Obama their second choice. Sen. Obama and I have one thing in common: Change."
