Senator Sock Puppet, This One's For You

I realize it's a bit of a challenge to know where to draw the ethical line when you've made your bones on behalf of an utterly corrupt regime, John Cornyn, but here's a quick and easy rule of thumb.

If you're going to have people who work for you go onto blogs and talk you up, they need to disclose who they're working for.

Otherwise, crap like this happens:

Indiana State Convention and Campaign Update IN-06

I am Barry Welsh amd I am the Democratic Candidate for United States Congress in Indiana's 6th District.   I am also a long time member of the Netroots Nation.

A quick update from the campaign:

We held the Indiana State Democratic Party Convention this past weeekend.

There are reports at most of the great Indiana blogs, including, but not limited too; Blue Indiana which I highlight and link because that page links other fine Indiana blogs and reports.

While Caucuses Violate the Spirit

Caucuses "violate the spirit". This is the analysis being spread around the blogosophere after last night's slightly closer margin in Nebraska's Primary.

What those saying this mean to say is that it violates what they believe to be the spirit of elections. Caucuses are often derided as activist parties where the 'Average Joe' can't be included. Extrapolating and expounding upon this, many Clinton supporters feel caucuses have enabled Senator Obama to achieve a delegate lead he would not otherwise have.

[UPDATE] OK-Sen: Liveblog with Andrew Rice: 4:30pm Central

Andrew Rice, state senator from Oklahoma and Jim Inhofe's sole opponent for U.S. Senate this year, will be on Daily Kos today at 4:30 pm Central (5:30 Eastern/2:30 Pacific) to liveblog about his US Senate race.  He'll focus on the problems created by a combination of record gas prices and record oil company profits, but all questions will be welcome!

Check here at 4:30 Central today to speak with Sen. Rice:

OK-Sen: Rice hits $1million mark, has best quarter yet

Topping off his best fundraising quarter to date, Andrew Rice today announced that he has raised $1 million during this campaign cycle.  Over $430,000 came in during the first quarter of this year alone,

With nearly 2/3 of the total funds raised coming from Oklahoma and over 95% of his contributions raised from individual donors, it's clear that Andrew Rice has burgeoning support from everyday people.

This campaign is on pace to becoming this cycle's classic "David vs Goliath" victory, similar to that of Jon Tester in 2006.  Tester's campaign made it to the million mark days before his June 6 primary.  Andrew Rice is nearly two months ahead of that pace, and doesn't have a primary opponent to contend with.

Funding PA School projects - the PA challenge

It appears more Obama supporters have taken up Stephen Colbert's challenge to help fund Pennsylvania classroom projects with a lot more interest, judged by donations, than Clinton's supporters. (See Colbert push the challenge here http://www.comedycentral.com/colbertrepo rt/videos.jhtml?videoId=164383)

Basically, the challenge asks Obama and Clinton supporters to make donations to fund school projects in PA in the name of their candidate.  Supporters of each candidate are being asked to donate a total of $66,001. As of noon-ish today (3/24), nearly nine-hundred Obama's supporters have donated a total of $58,287, impacting 9789 students. Nearly one-hundred Hillary's supporters have donated $11,699, impacting 1744 students. The average donation for an Obama supporter is ~$64 compared to ~$124 for a Clinton supporter.

Supporters of senators Obama and Clinton who have contributed to this worthy cause aught to be commended. This is at least one good outcome of this extended nomination process

Barack Obama is building the Winning Democratic Coalition

South Carolina proved that Senator Barack Obama is building the winning Democratic Coalition.

When added to Obama's strong showing in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, South Carolina proves that one, and only one, candidate passed the early primary state challenge laid out by the DNC.

Barack Obama has shown us that he is building a winning coalition; he is driving the positive Democratic message of this campaign season; and Senator Obama has proven once again that he is driving turnout. This is the combination of coalition and positive message and turnout that will win Democratic majorities in Congress and has the potential to advance Democratic legislation for a generation.

Barack Obama and Technology

Last week I posted a diary here on MyDD explaining the core reasons I support Barack Obama for president. Just Wednesday, I posted a diary on Barack Obama and the 50 State Strategy. I want to thank everyone who commented in that diary making it a productive thread.

Now, in that diary I promised to write future diaries expanding on Barack Obama's policies and positions. I am excited to do this because I think many Democrats are just not well-informed about how sound and well thought-out Barack Obama's policy positions are. Yes, Barack Obama wins as a communicator and a 50 State map-changing candidate. He also wins on policy. I look forward to sharing that point of view with you now.

This diary covers Barack Obama and technology.
