Ready...Set...Walk - A Candidate's diary

This is a cross post of a candidate diary at SquareState diary

By Anna Lord

The Anna Lord for House District 21 campaign began our 2008 walking campaign this weekend.

In 2006 my walk plan was to knock on the doors of Dems, unaffiliated voters and  households with a Republican woman under 50.  I wore a pedometer when I walked in 2006 and logged 115 miles before I lost it in October.

How much have the Super Delegates been paid?

Someone sent me this link from Feb, 2008:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/ 2008/02/obama-clinton-s.html

Back in Feb, Obama paid $694,000 to SD's campaigns vs. Hillary's payments to SD'S campaigns of $195,000.

Ten reasons why your candidate sucks

Your candidate is the worst possible choice for the nomination.  Fortunately, your candidate will not be chosen as the nominee and here's why:

1.  Your candidate is a liar, everyone says so.

  1.  Your candidate does nothing but pander to the base.
  2.  Your candidate is not a real Democrat, more like republican-lite.
  3.  Your candidate, in spite of plenty of opportunity, has failed to win in all the states.
  4.  Your candidate will not be able to win over the superdelegates because they are smart enough to see right through your candidate.
  5.  Your candidate cannot possibly beat McCain in November because the independents will not vote for your candidate.
  6.  Because your candidate sucks I will vote for the republican in November if my candidate does not win the nomination
  7.  Your candidate does not connect with real people.
  8.  Your candidate's voting record sucks in the Senate.
  9. Your candidate has too many skeletans in the closet.

I guess that about sums it up.  I expect to get flamed royally by the sucky supporters of your sucky candidate but I hope I am defended by the excellent supporters of my excellent candidate.

My Loyalty is to America, not the Party

The fathers of the revolution were much acquainted with the dangers of misguided loyalty. I find Samuel Adam's writing applicable to the call for party unity resounding from those who "derive their powers from us to serve the common interests."
As a long time Democratic voter I hear the hue and cry of Pelosi and Dean and wonder if they truly have the good of the "party" OR the people in mind. What is their true intent? Where are they trying to lead us?? Are we, as voters, to pay homage to "the party" at the expense of our country? Will we allow ourselves to be dependent on, submissive to, "the instrument of our ruin?"
Surely in their efforts to stop the primary process and bar the votes of millions they have become in Mr. Adams words, rebels against the undoubted rights and liberties of the people. There is in the higher ranks of the party a demand that we stop examining the candidate they so inexplicably are trying to foist on us. They are asking us to place our loyalty in the party; the same party that is blocking the votes of millions of people and trying desperately to stifle the votes of millions more by calling for the candidate who has the support of half the party to concede, to withdraw!

Candidates NCAA Tournament Picks

The Press has made a big deal about the candidates NCAA Tournament Picks. Obama picked North Carolina Hillary picked Bills Alma Mater Georgetown and lets just be honest I don't know or care who McCain picked. But the question of the candidates picks tells us more about the media than it does about the candidates.

Maybe Geraldine Ferraro was Right?

DOES EXPERIENCE MATTER?

Here's a quick background (from wikipedia) on all the President's since FDR:

FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT - Democrat - served 8 terms. Was 51 when he took office. Was a State Senator from NY, Secretary of the Navy, Governor of NY, then President. Milestones: Depression, New Deal, Unemployment drop from 24% to 2%, Social Security, WWII.

DWIGHT DAVID EISENHOWER - Republican - served 2 terms. Age 63. Served 2 terms. Was a General and Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. Milestones: Interstate Highway system, civil rights, Hawaii/Alaska become states.

JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY - Democrat - served less than 1 term due to assasination. Age 44 when he was President. Mass House of Rep, 7 years in US Senator Mass. Served in Navy WWII, received medal for PT109. Milestones: Cuban missle crisis, bay of pigs, space program, civil rights movement, beginning of vietnam war.

Concerned PA-18 Democratic voter

Ok, so there's like six candidates and it was recommended to check out PA-18 steve o'donnell.  I did and I found this out.
This should be disclosed to voters.

As a life long Democrat, I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT support Steve O'Donnell because I checked him out as recommended, and he has kept secret from everyone that he was pretty much terminated or forced out by a company in 1996 due to "rampant mismanagement".

The Board forced O'Donnell out in 1996 apparently for that exact reason. Westmoreland Human Opportunities started overseeing LSS in Sept 1996 & immediately bailed out of overseeing troubled LSS in October 1996, after learning the "intimate details" of Life Service Systems financial situation.  LSS shortly thereafter had to file for bankruptcy on 1/14/1997 under recommendation from the newly appointed Board (by Adelphoi).

Public assistance grant funding of over $1.3 million was secured by LSS from HUD in October 1995 for an LSS housing project, while matching funds were secured as a pre-condition to the HUD grant from United Way ($100,000), the Mellon Foundation ($150,000), and Westmoreland Housing Authority ($25,000)...imagine the attorney fees these organizations had to expend in this debacle.

Here's a link that shows Mr. O'Donnell as the president of Life Service
Systems, Inc.  http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_fj ghg2

At the first of the year in 1997, LSS had to file for bankruptcy, #97-20226-BM
in the Western PA Federal Bankruptcy court.  Check out this appeals link from the bankruptcy court:

http://www.pawb.uscourts.gov/pdfs/opinio ns/06-20-02.BM.LifeServiceSystems.97-202 26.AP98-2082.pdf

Notice that only months after receiving the HUD grant and matching funds totaling
over 1.3 million dollars...LSS experienced "financial and administrative" problems in 1996. You just don't develop bankruptcy over night and wake up with it the next morning...which again leads back to highly suspect issues of severe mis-management.

O'Donnell does not include reference to Life Service Systems, Inc. under the "About Steve" link on his webpage.  Nor does Steve O'Donnell include any reference to Professional Life Services, which in the Bankruptcy court documents under Case No. #97-20226-BM... Professional Life Services is listed as having the same address, ironically as Steve O'Donnell.  Why is Professional Life Services also not disclosed?  Also, I wonder how much of the taxpayer's money Westmoreland County had to pay for attorney fees during this debacle.

We need a strong, ethical candidate to take Tim Murphy to task on ethics as well as positions, not a candidate who may have something to hide and has not disclosed this information.  And that's just me checking O'Donnell out... imagine what Tim Murphy will come up with when he probes into Steve O'Donnell. Feel free to check out these court documents.

Obama Is Not For Change!

Obama is trying to make race an issue in his quest for the White House.
He will do anything to win.
He plays dirty, and will not win.
New York will laugh at him, and people will get sick of him.
Super Tuesday will break him, but he will try to lie his way to some wins.
See through him, and vote for another candidate.
I am,

George Vreeland Hill
