We will never have full party unity

The primary battle during this cycle was a long, hard-fought campaign. There are still, and probably always will be, bruised egos and bitter feelings on all sides of the Democratic party. Some of the hurt will fade away or scar over given enough time, but time is not a luxury we can afford at this critical time in our country's history.

I've wondered for some time if there is any way we can all come together before the November election. Thinking about that question led me to take a hard look at our side of the political spectrum. The last word of the preceding sentence, spectrum, is what I want to talk about in this diary.

Much of the infighting on our side seems to be caused by a mistaken belief that anyone who doesn't believe the same way we do about all of the issues is a troll or a closet republican. We've fallen into the 'my way or the highway' thinking of our opponents. If this thinking is allowed to grow we will end up tearing our party apart.

Dream Ticket is Dead

Hillary Clinton killed the dream ticket idea with her Argus-gaffe.

No reasonable member of the Obama family would want a person that is hopefully waiting to benefit from an attempt of BO's life to be his VP.  Any good insurance company would see fraud/criminal intent writen all over such ticket.

Obama/Wesley Clark Ticket

The last time I discussed the democratic ticket for November, I talked in growing terms about an Obama/Sebelius Ticket:  http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/5/10/1436 14/697
My admiration for that ticket is still as strong as ever; however, I just read an article about how major Obama supporters are purveying the possibility of giving the VP ticket to a Clinton supporter for the interest of unity.  The names being thrown out there include Ted Strickland, Evan Byah, and General Clark: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/5/10/1436 14/697
I will admit that of the three, I'm very convinced that General Clark would get it...
I've been a supporter of General Clark since his days as the NATO supremo; I also believe that he's so qualified to be the President of this nation.  I only started supporting Obama when I realized that the Clintons would not allow the General to run.  So if it's Clark, I'll be getting two for one actually.

Obama/Sebelius Ticket

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether BO should pick HRC as VP to ensure party unity and to win in November.
My take on this is that HRC on the ticket would drag it down because HRC would unite the Republican and turn them out in large numbers to vote McCain.
Because of the tone and divisiveness of the campaign, BO need to pick a female VP to assuage the older female voters who would not be happy after the nomination contest is over.
BO's best chance to reassure those voters and reclaim their loyalty quickly is Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas. She's smarter than Hillary, better experience than Strickland, and native of Ohio and the whole of Midwest.  A real champion of women rights, who was able to achieve fame on her own right.  Kathleen is an example of what a real fighter looks like.

Starting Off With Half Not Wanting To Vote For You

The exact phrase Obama made was, "I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats; we've done that in 2004, 2000."

That was Obama continuing his attack theme on Senator Clinton as his example of "politics of the past" in Central Iowa before the first Caucus.  His extension of the "generation of the past" that he used extensively in New Hampshire.  And he wonders why he has a problem with the Democratic base, mature adults and Seniors?

Talking Heads (Media) Know Hillary Can Be The Nominee

It just dawned on me this morning as I was switching channels to get away from these talking heads on these Morning Shows. You do realize, they don't call them Morning News, because then they might acutally be expected to report NEWS as opposed to gracing us with their opinions and entertainment (if that's what you call it), however biased they may be.  Even they have come to realize the truth, that Hillary can become the Democratic nominee.

The talking heads went with the Obama theme that we were hearing for so many weeks by the Obama surrogates, asking Hillary to drop out of the Presidential campaign to turn it over to Obama, instead of him having to campaign and fight for the nomination, the night Hillary won Indiana.  A funny thing to do when someone wins a primary election and there are still so many more states yet to vote.

Something worse than the "bitter" comment.

Hi everyone,

This is my first diary entry. I was just browsing through youtube videos and i came across a speech Obama gave in S.F and while everyone must have been aware of the higly reported bitter comment made by Obama, he actually made a even more racially charged comment at the same event, which has been ignored.

In the video, Obama said "when they hear a pitch that is premised on not being cynical about the government, ..Now it is true when the speech is delivered by a 46 year old black guy named Barack Obama, that added to another layer of cynicism. "

So by that quote, he is saying that small towns Americans  are skeptical about voting for him because he is "black" and his name is "Barack Obama" .

This is the same guy that said if he loses, it wont be because of his race, blah, whatever.

Anyway's here the video
