Exposed by the "Rockets Red Glare"

I am sick to death of the forwarded ignorance of so many Americans!

"I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. No where did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German, Portuguese, Greek, French, or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY -

IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP ---- please pass this along~

I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

       PART OF THE PROBLEM
Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

       Think about it!

       IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree -- pass

this along; if you don't agree -- delete it."

New Youtube Video Inspired By The Democratic Primary

My friend emailed me another video that he made.  He said he was inspired by the history making Democratic primary and by Senator Clinton's speech on Saturday.  I just have one word for this video:  Amazing.

It was so powerful and wonderfully captured the spirit of how we are currently living in a time that is truly making history.  Not many of us could truly say that before now.

A Day the World Can Celebrate

Whether you plan on voting for Obama or against him, these two stories should swell your heart and give you pride in being an American today:

Many Blacks Find Joy in Unexpected Breakthrough

...Alison Kane, a white 34-year-old transportation analyst from Edina, Minn., said Mr. Obama's success as a biracial politician would have a similar effect on her 21-month-old biracial daughter, Hawa. "When she's out in, God knows where, some small town in rural American, they'll think, 'Oh, I know someone like you,' " Ms. Kane said. "That just opens minds for people, to have someone to relate to. And that makes me feel better, as a mom." [snip] Mr. Obama's moment seemed to unite blacks across the political spectrum, even those who had no intention of voting for a Democrat for president.

For example, Ward Connerly, a conservative anti-affirmative-action crusader and chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute, watched a replay of the announcement of Mr. Obama's victory on Fox News early Wednesday "and I chocked up," he said. "He did it by his own achievement. Nobody gave it to him."

Rejoicing in Kenya at U.S. Triumph of a Soft of Native Son:

Obama Should Challenge McCain to Travel Across America

John McCain sharply criticized Democratic rival Barack Obama for not having been to Iraq since 2006, and said they should visit the war zone together.

"Look at what happened in the last two years since Senator Obama visited and declared the war lost," the GOP presidential nominee-in-waiting told The Associated Press in an interview, noting that the Illinois senator's last trip to Iraq came before the military buildup that is credited with curbing violence.

"He really has no experience or knowledge or judgment about the issue of Iraq and he has wanted to surrender for a long time," the Arizona senator added. "If there was any other issue before the American people, and you hadn't had anything to do with it in a couple of years, I think the American people would judge that very harshly."

Six Easy Ways to Support the Soldiers, Not the War

(Note: I posted this on DKos back in February, but it got ignored in favor of candidate diaries.  I figured I'd try again here.)

As we all know, Republican leaders are fond of saying that because we liberals don't support the disastrous war in Iraq, we don't support the troops.  It's a great illustration of the lack of logical reasoning skills on the part of Republican leaders, but why take my word for it when every single one of us can disprove the charge through our actions?  If we all commit to showing support to our soldiers in deed rather than in words only, not only will we make the Republicans look foolish, but we'll also help give hope and comfort to thousands.  So today, I'm calling on everyone to commit to as many of these "six steps" as you can.

Obama's Bandwagon of Illusion

To those "O" people who rant and rave and cry about how fair the media and Clinton people are suddenly treating your almighty candidate....THIS ONE IS FOR YOU!

Del Williams, A black conflict analyst for the U.S. Institute of Peace, recently wrote a great editorial piece for the American Chronicle regarding her thoughts and feelings about the Obama campaign. I wanted to share this with MyDD because the article was rather a startling account Of Obama's tactics for winning the Presidency which some of you may find very disturbing. The reason I am not supporting Obama has nothing to do with his race or even with his lack of experience, yet it has everything to do with his credibility and his honesty. As the primary campaign begins to draw closer to an end, voters are taking a second look at Obama and not particularly liking what they see. We are beginning to see this reflected in the primary polls, national tracking polls and in favorability rating. Obama's speech yesterday in Philadelphia received mixed reviews and many are questioning why he is not severing ties with Rev. Wright, and why he did not quit the church when he heard and found out about Wright's controversial remarks of hatred. You can say many words that people love to hear in the context of a speech, but words alone cannot undue the damage caused by your lack of judgment. This election is not a beauty contest where the most congenial candidate comes out on top, rather it is about the candidate who can use good judgment and experience to lead this country forward in troubling times. This race is about credibility and honesty where one speech cannot extinguish the serious reservations that voters now have regarding the character of Obama.

By Author Del Williams:
Since I started getting involved in this campaign, some things have struck me. One is that this campaign wants the experience to speak for itself, but that message is not coming across correctly. So Obama, a virtually unknown man comes up with a message on hope and all the USA is mesmerized, even if they know he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of bringing about the changes that he wants, since he has no plan.

The thing I have noticed is that Clinton's hands have been tied. If she criticizes him , the blacks consider it wrong. Everything has an undercurrent about race, but those same blacks have no problem with lying and criticizing Clinton.

Having said that I am wondering how helpful some of Clintons helpers are. This is a unique race, and for some reason Blacks seem to think this is only about them. I am black, so I can say that. Considering blacks only comprise 13% of the nation's population, I don't think they have that right. I think that Obama has made this into a race thing, but in a much more subtle way. His meetings tend to be in predominately black communities or campuses. That cannot be by accident. So the man who says he will be the President of All America, seems to think that blacks come first. This may be why he has no qualms with his mentor, Rev. Wright calling for the Damning of America, calling the USA the KKKA, blaming the USA for the 9/11 attacks, etc. If I didn't know better it would seem like Obama is into "Black Power" and that is not good for America. It depends on the subjugation of the white world.

The odd thing is that with poor blacks Obama is not all that. He is a sellout. In poor black communities the educated black man is not wanted. Obama lives in a Million dollar home, so he is the top 6% of America making over $95,000 per year. He may have come from poverty, but at his age he cannot possibly understand JFK or MLK, since he, like I was not around. He throws out those names because they have meaning in the black community. And those who say "He is all that" are showing a hypocrisy that they do not give to other black leaders of either political party. So how does Obama get out of the "Sellout jail" and no one else does? It is the ultimate slap in the face to those who did not do drugs, had the two parent home, and have jobs that they like and their kids are not on the streetcorner gang banging. If Obama is not a sellout (in my opinion, he is not) then those others are not either. Obama is a self-made man, but he does have some issues that need to be dealt with that have little to do with race and all to do with a realistic plan for this country. If he wants to sell me he needs to stop with the cliches and rhetoric and actually present some plans and how he intends to pay for them. He may be sounding like Santa Claus to some, but the reality is that bills on credit will have to be paid.

Obama won't have Hillary Clinton on a ticket because of the idea of a woman needing to be under a man, not next to or over. That is what his mentor taught him. So, if Obama gets the nomination, the first thing is to give the VP to someone he owes a favor to. The next is to elevate the inexperienced staff he has to important positions. Then, it will be time to pay off in posts all the people who have helped him behind the scenes. Don't be surprised if Collin Powells name comes up. He has been advising him on foreign policy. A typical Powell move.

In summary, whenever the need for a distraction comes up listen for a race issue or comment that, though educated, they purposely take the wrong way, like with the Ferraro statement. Second, look for more meetings in black communities running up to PA, look for him to oppose the re vote in any state that he thinks Clinton can win, and finally look for him to consider himself a victim at the hands of Clinton in some stupid way. He won't tell America that he can't get the nomination with Hillary in the race and all she has to do is bide her time.

My prayer is that the REAL motive of Obama comes out and that the perfect veneer be shown for what it really is. America needs to see Obama, and we have not. We have seen the ultimate David Copperfield illusion.

Thoughts on the Politics of the Obama Speech

I've already laid down my gut-level take on Barack Obama's speech this morning on race in America, but I'd like to pivot a bit to the politics of the speech (because after all, this is an electoral politics blog).

I do not doubt at all that this was a politically risky speech. Chuck Todd and Mark Murray over at MSNBC's First Read put it well: "If Obama can't hit a homerun on this speech today, then he won't be president."

The expectation from some might have been that Obama would have given a more bland speech, one that only dealt with the narrowest and most specific issue at hand at the moment: The comments of Jeremiah Wright. I submit, however, that Obama could not have succeeded in giving such a speech. Such a speech simply would not have been politically efficacious. It would have carried less risk, it might have offended some less, but it just would not have done what it needed to do -- get the campaign back on message.

Put Obama's speech up against the other make-or-break speech we've seen this cycle on a controversial topic: Mitt Romney's address on his Mormon faith. In that earlier speech, Romney said little personal, little that could offend -- but also little that truly connected with voters. I do not doubt that Romney spoke from his heart. But in his couched terms, he was unable to reach the hearts of then American people.

Here, Obama took a leap of faith on a speech he personally penned. He put his heart on the line. And at least to me, a coastal American who grew up and lived for most of his life in a state (Oregon) that will be holding its nominating contest this May, he did connect. He hit the home run that Todd and Murray talked about.

I fully concede that this is not necessarily the way that the speech will be received all over the country. Race is viewed very differently in different quarters and corners of the country. Even the mention of race and the intense focus on the subject will, to some, turn them off to Obama. In short, this speech very much could have (and indeed still could) backfire.

But I do not know another way Obama could have done it. This was a speech Obama had to give, because of the politics of the moment but also because of the fundamental nature of his candidacy. Rather than keep these clearly simmering issues of race at arm's length in a way that I just don't think would have worked, Obama took the risk and said what was in his heart. And I'm not sure what more you can ask from a leader.
