Endorsements and the Judgment of Barack Obama (D-Rezko)

Many here tout the endorsements the candidates for the Presidency receive.  Ignored in all this chatter, however, are the endorsements the candidates have made.  The latter, I believe, provides a rare view into the priorities, values and judgment of the candidates.  Because susanhu has broached a discussion on Obama's judgment as it relates to his collusion with Antoin "Tony" Rezko, the indicted slumlord who owned and operated dilapidated tenements in inner city Chicago, I will revisit a diary I wrote in July on the ethically challenged Illinois politicians Barack Obama endorsed in 2006 and 2007.  Obama, after all, is campaigning on his judgment, an object all of us should scrutinize if we are to cast informed votes in the Democratic primary.

Endorsements Matter

Many here tout the endorsements the candidates for the Presidency receive.  Ignored in all this chatter, however, are the endorsements the candidates have made.  The latter provides a rare view into the priorities and values of the candidates.  Because each diary can only accomodate one candidate's endorsements, I will limit my discussion to those made by Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama, WAL-MART, Daley, Big Box Ordinance Veto

There are many reasons to oppose Obama, whose paltry legislative record disqualifies him for the Presidency.  That he would cite state legislative experience during a Presidential campaign as a qualification already reveals to this voter how underprepared he is for the Presidency.

Limit comments to discussion of candidates and connections to WAL-MART, please.  This should faciliate discussion about candidates' and corporate complicity and its potential relation to failures to implement progressive policies.

Would you like to see these as law?

Joe Serra is, exactly what the Illinois 14th District and any district that is overwhelmingly Conservative, needs.  Joe Serra is a Moderate Democrat and he will attract the swing voters in the 14th without, whose votes, the race is lost.  Democrats must understand this.

Joe Serra will be discussing this extremely important issue throughout the campaign for Congress.

Veteran's
Affirmative Action
 (1) Transitional support to finish college.  I've talked with
many guys that could NOT find a job even though they have
college degrees and are forced to take positions below
their capabilities.  I'm rather angry that this sort of
thing is happening and want to add protections to our Vets.
They deserve better.  I am not saying Veterans Affirmative
Action is the best choice if there is a better idea I will
gladly listen and would greatly appreciate alternatives.

    i) Joe Serra is in favor of a comprehensive plan to aid
everybody, including Veterans, who seek gainful
        employment, to be employed.
ii) Joe Serra will keep, soldiers returning from service,
on their salary until they either find a job or finish
         school.
iii) Joe Serra will Expand mental-health counseling for
all returning soldiers and their familyies, as well
as improve training for Iraq-bound soldiers on the
          emotional hardships of combat.

I think this is great!  Don't you?

Daley Crushes Opponents

This is for my fellow Midwestern posters.

Mayor Richard M. Daley won a sixth term Tuesday, putting him on track to become the city's longest-serving mayor because he would surpass his legendary father if he serves the full term.

"People talk about alleged corruption, but when you have a city this size, he can't possibly know what's going on at all levels," DeMarty said, adding that Daley has kept Chicago's economy strong. "Some cities are desolate, but Chicago has vitality."
