Brad Miller NC-13 Live-Blogging BlueNC

Rep. Brad Miller will be live-blogging at BlueNC.com on Thursday morning December 28th from 9am-11am (Eastern). Questions and comments are welcome

In anticipation of this event a question thread has been running at BlueNC. Some good questions have already been posted and Rep. Miller has been reading.

Some of you will have seen my previous MyDD posts and those of others about Brad Miller and the absurdly venomous campaign by his unsuccessful opponent Vernon Robinson.

It was a beautiful day today

Yesterday it was gloomy.  Low 50s, and drizzling.  I was doing nothing - blogging, gaming, a little procrastinating - when the phone rang.  It was a volunteer over at the Brad Miller campaign HQ, asking if I could help with a literature drop today.

I said yes, I'd be delighted to.  And a few moments after I hung up, it hit me what I'd just committed to: wandering around a strange neighborhood in the drizzle and cold.

I needn't have worried.  (continued below the fold)

NC-13 Tancredo, Dixie, Dracula, Kronos Quartet, Robinson?

As we approach the witching hour it's time for a review of the sordid brew that is Vernon Robinson's devious, scary and, hopefully, quixotic campaign including what appears to be another copyright violation.  Interesting take on Vernon Robinson at this post by Michael Fauntroy at the Huffington Post.  Noting how effective Robinson is at raising money with hate he raises the scary thought of how much money Robinson could raise if Republicans actually thought he had a chance at winning. I love MsWings comment that if Miller were everything Robinson says he is

I'd still vote for him before I'd waste a vote on a hate filled loudmouth like Robinson.
Meanwhile Robinson's dirty campaigning tricks have circled the globe via international press in the last few days showing up in London and Australia in stories typical of this Canadian report.  I hope these stories have shown up in Beijing but who knows how the government censors control what Vernon's Chinese donors see.  [more below...]

NC-13 Where in The World Are Vernon Robinson's Donors: Beijing

The prize for the furthest traveled to this reunion goes to an octogenarian couple in Beijing, China who retired there from Illinois in 1988 and haven't looked back since.  As the husband writes in his website:

China living is easy, a slower-paced living.  It's a lot like turning the clock back a number of years.
No kidding!  Turning the clock back is what Vernon Robinson wants to do with a number of issues here in NC, on the other side of the globe from Beijing, literally and figuratively.

They have sent money from China to Robinson before, giving them reunion status in Robinson's fear mongering milking parlor in his run against Democrat Brad Miller.  Why would they want to give money to a Congressional race in  NC?  Well, clue number 1. is this quote:

NC-13 Robinson fails NCLB

Vernon Robinson's campaign has failed to respond to a Federal Elections Commission letter issued August 29th, with a response due date of September 29th, requesting additional information regarding Robinson's Amended July Quarterly Report to the FEC.

Robinson has been too busy running a dirty campaign against Democratic Congressman Brad Miller to fulfill his responsibilities to the Federal government.  Robinson's MBA appears to be of little use in managing his accounts.  Let's hope he never gets near a Federal Budget or the House seat for NC-13 because he has failed the test for "No Contribution Left Behind".

NC-13 Where in the World are Vernon Robinson's Donors? AK-01

Poor George Benesch.  Thousands of miles away from NC-13, George lies awake at night in the midnight sun of Anchorage, Alaska, worring about a flotilla of tortilla wielding mariachi players paddling their Spanish Armada of inner tubes and 55 gallon drums from the Baja Peninsula to the Alaska Peninsula.

House 2006 Open Thread

Chuck Todd has his new House rankings out. Of the sixty-one races mentioned in any capacity, 51 seats are currently held by Republicans. 51. Almost every House candidate on the MyDD / Dailykos / Swing State Project Act Blue page is mentioned, which is pretty cool. I will be publishing my rankings within the next week. The only thing that is keeping me from publishing them now is that I know there is a huge, independent poll in the field that will look at dozens of Republican-held districts. That poll will really give us an indication as to whether a wave is building at this time or not.

Also, I have an announcement. As of today, I will be doing netroots consulting for Representative Brad Miller. It is absolutely my pleasure to be working with a progressive Democrat and a real friend of the netroots. I hope this campaign will allow the emerging North Carolina netroots scene to really show its stuff, and to send professional wingnut Vernon Robinson to yet another electoral defeat. It will be like campaigning against Ann Coulter, only Vernon Robinson is probably worse.

You may have noticed that Representative Miller is actually the most cash challenged Democratic incumbent in this election cycle, and that he is on the netroots allies page. I'll just ask you to put two and tow together on that one.

Also, David Kowalski has been putting together some great diaries on off the radar House races in 2006. Check them out.

I have included a poll in the extended entry. This is an open thread on House campaigns in 2006.

Where's Vernon Robinson? Not in NC-13

GOP hatemonger Vernon Robinson wants to represent North Carolina's 13th Congressional District without actually living in it.  He is located a little over 20 miles west of the closest peninsula.  Too bad Vernon can't even vote for himself.  Sorry Vern, I already have an effective Congressman representing me: Brad Miller
