Can someone seriously tell me why the Democratic leadership cowers to this man when he says outrageous things like this on TV?

This diary will be slightly split in intentions as I just found out over at the "Great Orange Cthulhu" that Barack Obama schooled G.I.Joe (h/t to ncaldem here: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/6 /4/152839/5810/316/529559).  I was going to do a complete issues piece but someone smacking sense into holy Joe is too good to mention.

Max Blumenthal recently alerted The Nation readers that Joe Lieberman To Headline Pastor Hagee's Upcoming Summit.

In spite of McCain's apparent rejection of the apocalyptic preacher John Hagee, it is reported that his ally Joe Lieberman is scheduled to headline Hagee's upcoming Washington summit. Since Lieberman has been McCain's shadow throughout his presidential campaign, one has to wonder whether McCain actually did give up on Hagee, or whether a wink-wink relationship now exists between McCain and the Religious Right through Joe Lieberman's continued advocacy.

As for Lieberman, anyone who uses terms such as "a preemptive military strike against Iran" cannot be abandoned. As the representative of the right wing Israeli Likud party in the US Senate, Lieberman's own drum beating against Iran has been relentless. Joe has not withdrawn to date and it is unlikely that he will.

Ok ok, we all hate Joe Lieberman for his unabashed support of this abortion of a war and his Brutus-like turn on the party that has backed him all these years. But there is one thing that Joementum can do to redeem himself: Serve as John McCain's Vice Presidential nominee. It will spell certain doom for McCain and ensure that Obama will be elected president and the war will not go on for 100 years.

As we all know, putting Joe on the ticket in 2000 was the biggest mistake Al Gore ever made. He was a horrible campaigner and brought absolutely nothing to the ticket. He is about as charismatic as a nauseous eel,  was a tired and lazy campaigner and was such a bad a debater that he somehow managed to lose to Dick Cheney. He was poison to the ticket.

If he was on the republican ticket, he'd bring all of those great faults with him while bringing with him a whole new mess of liabilities. McCain is very weak with social conservatives, and appointed a socially moderate democrat to be next in line would make the heads of right wingers who are already holding their noses just completely explode. And Joementum is so fearless in his defense of the Iraq War, it would further emphasize how in-line McCain is with the Bush-policy on Iraq. Not to mention: he wouldn't deliver Connecticut or any other state for that matter. And there will be NO democrats who decide to cross-over because Joementum's on the ticket. All he will do is lose McCain votes.

Hillary Clinton has officially jumped the shark by declaring that only she and her good friend John McCain have crossed the Joe Leiberman threshold of valuing their own political careers over the country and their party...

The Huffington Post this morning published a story (John Hagee's McCain Endorsement Sparks Uproar) about McCain's endorsement by James Hagee, the founder of Christians United for Israel (CUI) and leader of the Christian Zionists, relating more fully the extent of Hagee's bigotry. Not only are Muslims in the sights of CUI's guns, but Catholics (The Great Whore), Blacks, gays, women, and others have also been targeted.

Hagee is the purveyor of a Christian eschatology in which end days are coming when Jews will be subjected to conversion, but his antiMuslim rhetoric, especially his support for attacking Iran, has attracted extreme right wing Israeli supporters like Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the extremist Likud party in Israel, and Joe Lieberman to his fold. Both Netanyahu and Lieberman have spoken at CUI conventions, and Hagee in turn has spoken before AIPAC, the face of the Israel Lobby in the US, which is also an advocate of Likud (no Palestinian state) politics.

No extended diary but my subconscious has been processing politics while I sleep and when I woke up this morning the thought was in my head that if McCain gets the nomination, Joe Lieberman (D-Likud) will take the opportunity to cross the aisle.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the Democratic nominee is either Hillary or Obama, Lieberman will campaign with McCain.   If he doesn't jump on his own accord, I'd be happy to give him an assist with a collective Democratic Senatorial boot to the rump.

Tactically, I've been of the camp that's found it pragmatic to tolerate McCain to preserve the Democratic in-name majority but his campaigning for McCain would be the excuse to drop the charade and the PR and tactical damage, with only a few months left, would be minimal.   (Lieberman never had more power than on the day after the 2006 elections and that leverage has dwindled with every passing day.)

As if the Clintons credibility could possibly get any lower, it was just reported by CNN today that the Hillary Clinton adminstration (if people are dumb enough to actually vote for her)   now plans to hire .. yep .. that 'old Iran-Contra criminal and Saudi Oil Cartel crony, with his idiot puppet sons, -- George H. W. Bush (War Profiteer) -- to advise & represent their administration on U.S. Foreign Policy.

George H.W. Bush will help President Hillary

Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to tell them that America is open for business.

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together.

A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment.
