Do you think the media will run with this story even though it doesn't meet with their preconceived notions.
In another nail in the coffin of the "Hispanics won't vote for Obama" line of thought, Gallup found that Hispanics not only are behind Obama -- but at a pretty high rate.
Good news for Barack Obama and very bad news for John McCain.
Contrary to polls discussed during the primary season, it looks like McCain's purported strength among Latinos/Hispanics was an illusion.
National Poll Shows That Latino Voters Favor Obama Over McCain
June 16, 2008Latino voters favor Obama over McCain, according to Latino Decisions Poll.
A new national survey of Latino voters shows Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama with a nearly 3-to-1 advantage over his rival, Republican John McCain.
Hispanics?
Why should the Democratic Nominee care?
I decided to make a diary solely based on recognizing, and examining some factsheets and statistics out there concerning my all time favorite demographic: HISPANICS. Low and behold, the Hispanic Pew Center does some amazing work and I reference their work for the purpose of trying to help bring more attention to the Hispanic/Latino community. (Hispanic and Latino will be used interchangeably)
Answer: not in Puerto Rico.
Over the past several months I have grown to have great respect for the campaign skills of the Obama team. They have run what will probably be remembered by historians as the Presidential primary campaign that changed Presidential primary campaigns forever. Timely messaging, rapid response, social networking and internet fund-raising have been the hallmarks of their successful effort against a candidate with 100% name recognition and years of hard-won goodwill.
For this reason I was taken aback by the perfunctory efforts in West Virginia and Kentucky. Admittedly these states presented overwhelming demographic challenges for the Obama team, but as a candidate who prides himself on his ability to change voters' minds once they get to know him I was surprised that Obama made no serious effort to introduce himself to their voters.

It just dawned on me this morning as I was switching channels to get away from these talking heads on these Morning Shows. You do realize, they don't call them Morning News, because then they might acutally be expected to report NEWS as opposed to gracing us with their opinions and entertainment (if that's what you call it), however biased they may be. Even they have come to realize the truth, that Hillary can become the Democratic nominee.
The talking heads went with the Obama theme that we were hearing for so many weeks by the Obama surrogates, asking Hillary to drop out of the Presidential campaign to turn it over to Obama, instead of him having to campaign and fight for the nomination, the night Hillary won Indiana. A funny thing to do when someone wins a primary election and there are still so many more states yet to vote.
Facing South reports:
North Carolina has witnessed a surge in voter registrations this election year. Nearly 89,000 new voters have registered to vote in the last three months, according to new statistics released last Friday.

This is great news for Dems in the upcoming primary on May 6th.
Though I have been reading here for some time, I have finally figured out how to do diaries and post. I'm a 60 year old who is just making a transition to blogs and blogging in the last few months, so please excuse any errors of netiquette on my part.
I am becoming alarmed at the increasing level of hostile rhetoric in the campaign, as more and more surrogates for Senator Clinton, including her husband, seem to be applauding and encouraging the uninformed and hostile attacks on Senator Obama, via his Pastor's remarks, taken out of context and run Ad nauseum on Fox and other outlets.
HC is projected to win the Ohio Primary according to final polls taken early this morning. The Nafta Blunder by the Obama campaign is resonating with voters in that state and HC has opened up a bigger lead among likely voters. Obama has found himself on the defensive on several fronts - fending off accusations that his campaign had privately told the Canadian government not to take his populist anti-free trade rhetoric too seriously, and distancing himself from a former donor, Chicago property developer Tony Rezko, who went on trial yesterday on political corruption charges.
An Ice Storm moving across Northern Ohio could knock out power to polling stations complicating the voting process and a snow alert has been issued for the surrounding Dallas area.

Clinton does stand a good chance of winning not only Ohio on Tuesday, but Vermont and Rhode Island as well, because polls in all three states show her ahead, according to reports.
Clinton reportedly said she expects to win on Tuesday and is looking forward to Pennsylvania's primary on April 22 when 188 delegates are up for grabs.

PPL Polling shows HC leading in Texas this morning. Hispanic voters are turning out in record numbers to vote for Hillary.
