Progressive Americans, that's a joke. Barack Obama promised change and one of the first things he did after clinching the Democratic nomination, was to continue the rhetoric of the Bush Administration. I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like a knife has been driven through my heart, and I didn't even support him! The truth is what's happened to this country? I'm no fool, I know that we have been involved in toppling unfriendly governments and have started imperialistic wars for a long time now. The difference between then and now is that America no longer looks after just it's "interests", it wants control of everything.
This is evident in the way that we allocate our budget. There are other nations in this world that have re-made their skylines into cities that look like futuristic panoramas out of a science fiction novel. America still looks basically the same since the 70's. The only difference you can discern are the cookie-cutter malls with the same branded stores. We have no real mass transit that is any better than it was. There are other nations that run their trains in maglev technology. Our infrastructure is falling apart. The Middle-Class is disappearing, and our industry is being outsourced to nations that can not only make things cheaper, but better.
Someone mentioned on a blog that she was having a difficult time finding accurate information on the web doing a search for Hillary Clinton's legislative achievements. She tried a few different searches and all of them turned up results that were neither what she was looking for or accurate information. Instead she was directed to pages of "opinions" of her legislative achievements and all of them slanted against her. This practice is called Goggle bombing and it is an affront to our democracy.
The Goggle Bombing of information is a practice designed to keep unbiased information away from people and to replace it with specifically biased information. You might say that it is the Faux News of Search Engines. It is undemocratic, actually closer to fascism than anything else. It dumbs down the electorate and suppresses the ability to make rational informed choices. That it is embraced by so-called progressives is perhaps the most frightening aspect of it. Ironically some of these same so-called progressives claim to support Net Neutrality.
This practice must cease immediately. There are consequences to stepping over lines. And one thing you don't do is screw with our Democracy. Because we will screw back, longer and harder. And you won't like it.
Now that Mr. Reid will be making a critical decision on the FISA legislation and we need so desperately our Representaitives to be vocal about their opposition to immunity, let's be clear about where Kucinich stands:
"I object to any immunity for telecommunications companies and demand a full accounting of these companies' involvement to Congress and to the American public. When corporations cooperate with the government to strip people of their Constitutional rights, that is a text book description of fascism. There must not be any place in America for this type of conduct."
-Dennis Kucinich
Private Armies, corporate-created lobbyists drafting our laws, invading other countries "peremptorily" to prevent them from invading us, a Homeland Security agency which eats up our rights while it protects "Der Homeland", a President governing by "Administrative Action" while ignoring the wishes of Congress and the People, a President appointed by the Supreme Court and not elected by voters... all of these things have come into play in a short six years.
Our Country has changed.
Changing it back is going to be more than difficult. Even listening to the candidates on the left who are our greatest hope, we now hear them ganging up on Hillary because she is the leader in the polls. If it was Edwards, they'd all be ganging up on him. Having seven or eight candidates active more than a year before the election is, in the long run, weakening the system... it will make change even harder.
And we go on consuming more, using up more energy, driving bigger cars and SUVs, eating ourselves "fried-food-silly", and getting ourselves more and more in debt.
Help!
Americans have been lied to by the U.S. government for the past 60+years in order to justify unnecessary mass-violence, bloodshed, and Warfare (largely for the benefit of corrupt transnational Corporations and U.S. Monopolies).

As Dwight Eisenhower warned back in 1960, our American government -- actually our entire American society -- is dominated by the permanent, extra-Constitutional, Military-Industrial-Complex that was thrust upon us following the end of WWII (by the International Banking Cartel, Wall Street, and Defense Industries).
This is why the United States, after the close of WWII, has been fighting an absurdly long, endless list of undeclared proxy Wars in Foreign Nations all around the globe (quite unnecessarily), both overtly and covertly (and, done so in the service of the financial self-interests of U.S. transnational Corporations). This is why we have 750 U.S. Military Bases located in 130 Countries all around the World. The War-Establishment trumps-up poor, impoverished nations as these "great threats to our security" distracting both Washington politicians and the American people from thinking about all the waste, all the lies, all the unnecessary bloodshed, and all the Orwellian-control of our society, as our own Nation is plunged into debt and bankruptcy, while the War-Profiteers get rich, and the real "National security problem" for our Country is that China and Saudi Arabia are now required to keep the entire U.S. monetary system afloat.
Remember the guy who was tasered for asking Sen. John Kerry questions?
Felony charges are being pursued.
This is what we have become. Ask a Senator challenging questions and you lose your rights.
Become passionate, and you get what you deserve (as some say), not to mention swiftboated by none other than the Senator's office.
I know there are a lot of Sen. Kerry supporters here; but this is wrong. I ask if Rudy Giuliani were the speaker, would not our reactions to Mr. Meyer's plight be different? Our indignation aroused?
