MyDD: major '08 growth. DKos: not so much.

A quick trip over to Alexa tonight indicates that MyDD has experienced major audience/traffic growth since the beginning of the year, certainly in comparison to its much bigger "cousin," DailyKos.

SINCE JANUARY 1ST, 2008
Judging from the front-and-center "history graphs," for which Alexa's known, MyDD's audience reach (percentage of overall Internet users) appears to have almost doubled since January 1, 2008, while the reach of the significantly larger community at DKos is at roughly just 50% of the numbers it was posting at the beginning of the year.

LAST 45 DAYS
While traffic at most political blogs during a presidential election year tends to mirror actual campaign activity--experiencing erratic and/or downward swings once the primaries are concluded prior to an uptick around convention time--Alexa's history graphs indicate that MyDD's audience reach appears to have actually achieved a modest gain in its daily traffic over this period, while DKos "reach" stats have plummeted, dramatically. (i.e.: relational comparisons between MyDD's and Kos' overall audience reach around the first week of June indicate an audience-reach ratio of 1:8 or 1:9 between the two sites; however, this week, that ratio is approx. 1:2.5 or 1:3.)

Is It Everyone's Fault?

(cross-posted at Clintonistas for Obama)

I'm going to get flamed for resurrecting the primary wars. Maybe I shouldn't, but with the recent influx of PUMA members, I figure it can't hurt - we're already back to attacking and arguing with each other, which is a real shame because we were doing so well for awhile there. Some of us - including myself - are being pretty rude to the people with whom we disagree, and I doubt it's helpful. Still, I'm disinclined to stop because I have little patience remaining for people who refuse to support (or even tolerate) Obama as Hillary so openly has.

The two warring factions - the PUMAs and the people who are supporting the nominee - tend to blame one another (and the other candidate) for the divisions within the party, but I've begun to think that everyone involved shares some of the responsibility for the rift. Hillary and Barack certainly contributed to it, and their supporters magnified each point of contention and kept it alive. Outrage fueled outrage, and somewhere along the line, everything spiraled out of control.

Silenced By DailyKos

I left DailyKos a while back because I thought (and after today have never been more convinced) they are hurting Obama's candidacy more than they are helping.

I went back only to find out I can't post diaries nor can I post comments. I still have an account, but I'm silenced. I'm not allowed to be a part of the conversation.

Believe me, I'm not complaining all that much. I'm better off, but there is a part of me that refuses to let kos derail our chances of winning this year.

Worst site in the world

Current diary in question is this - Kudos to Clinton supporters who stayed, with grace.
The premise of the dairy is itself broken - the underlying comment here being that except for a couple of HRC supporters, the other supporters on dailyKos, who either remained behind or left did so - did so disgracefully.
What a bloody patronising diary. Couldn't have been more patronizing if it had been written by Laura Ingraham, instead of MsLaura.

Clinton Supporters, Hold Your Heads High!

We're coming down to the wire now. If Hillary is going to take this thing to the convention, that decision will be made within the next week or two. It's my personal opinion that a floor fight would mean certain defeat for our nominee in November, and I don't want that. I realize, however, that many of you do want her to take it to Denver, and I respect your dedication. Whatever happens, it will happen soon. I believe the super delegates will encourage her to step down, and I believe she'll exit the race gracefully for the sake of the Party and the country.

The KOS-ification of MyDD

In an environment that encourages the "discourse", an environment I greatly appreciated and respected, I have born witness to namecalling and bullying the likes of whcih I haven't witnessed since my hormone-laden pre-teen years.  It seems now, on this site, if you support Hillary Clinton for President, that gives some license to call you a whole host of unflattering names.   On this site, there are voting-age adults who participate in adolescent antics.  And I say to you who do this, go back to KOS.  If you can't argue the merits of your candidate without resorting to namecalling, go back to KOS.  If you can't engage in adult political discourse, go back to KOS.  If you only want to participate in Obamania, go back to KOS.

prove that DKos is insane

Markos published new Diary with poll "Tomorrow, I'm rooting for Obama or Hillary". As of 5:55pm it was 7741 votes, 7006 for Obama, 319 for Hillary.

Obama got 90% in this poll, like he is getting from blacks everywhere.
I cannot assume that most dkos visitors are black, and I doubt that all of them just crazy college kids with no life and nothing else to do.
The only other explanation I can get that dkos just insane and it is irreversible, given that at least half of democrats supporting Hillary.

I also noticed that DKos people often (like ancient normans or mongols or like cancer cells) trying to invade other blogs and made them insane too.

I really hope that MYDD can withstand such an invasion and stay sane and reasonable and avoid joining Obama Cult.

Call to Action: DailyKos members trying to get control of CNN news cycle

According to this diary, the action called for against CNN in this diary has been effective. Haven't heard of this campaign? It started this weekend with a call to action diary on Dkos asking readers to submit their opinions regarding the Wright issue with CNN. They were sick of looking at it. Of course, that isn't the way news cycles are supposed to work. They aren't supposed to be subject to pressure by political groups, and viewers should be angry when they are. This morning John Roberts declared CNN a "Wright-Free Zone," because their viewers just didn't want to hear it. But it wasn't their viewers, per se, it was a small but effective group on Dkos shilling for their preferred candidate. You can fight back, though, using the info in the DailyKos diary.
