Hillary speaks out on Castro

Again, I'll just let Hillary speak for herself:

2/19/2008
Statement from Hillary Clinton on Fidel Castro

"As you know, Fidel Castro announced that he is stepping down as Cuba's leader after nearly 50 years of one-man rule. The new leadership in Cuba will face a stark choice -- continue with the failed policies of the past that have stifled democratic freedoms and stunted economic growth -- or take a historic step to bring Cuba into the community of democratic nations. The people of Cuba want to seize this opportunity for real change and so must we.

"I would say to the new leadership, the people of the United States are ready to meet you if you move forward towards the path of democracy, with real, substantial reforms. The people of Cuba yearn for the opportunity to get out from under the weight of this authoritarian regime, which has held back 11 million talented and hardworking citizens of the Americas. The new government should take this opportunity to release political prisoners and to take serious steps towards democracy that give their people a real voice in their government.

"The American people have been on the side in the Cuban people's struggle for freedom and democracy in the past and we will be on their side for democracy in the future.

"As President, I will engage our partners in Latin America and Europe who have a strong stake in seeing a peaceful transition to democracy in Cuba, and who want very much for the United States to play a constructive role to that end. The United States must pursue an active policy that does everything possible to advance the cause of freedom, democracy and opportunity in Cuba.

"The events of the past three days, including elections in Pakistan and Kosovo's declaration of independence, are a vivid illustration of people around the world yearning for democracy and opportunity. We need a President with the experience to recognize and seize these opportunities to advance America's values and interests around the world. I will be that President."

Pinata One & Human Rights

Chris Bowers has posted here and at his site, Open Left, an interesting and provacative contrast for politics.  And given that Bob Herbert, a columnist for one of America's biggest newspapers with his take on the history of Republican behavior  in which he tosses both Ronald Reagan and Lee Atwater into the dust bin of history, merits an affirming response on my part..  I too think I should make it known that 'non-issues' is an equally important tool for measuring our political participation, as well.

So, follow me over the 'jump', and learn a tad more on
an innovative approach to conceptual history or for Sonoran Desert 'creationism' of 30 years ago.  :-)

Fidel Castro: The CIA killed John Kennedy

Many private investigations and private researchers have arrived at the conclusion that militant war-hawks in the CIA
(clandestine operations), who were opposed to Kennedy's efforts to prevent wider War (in Cuba, Loas, Berlin, Vietnam), were responsible for the Kennedy assassination.

No less than Senator Richard Schweiker went on record in the 1970s, saying:

"We do know Oswald had intelligence connections. Everywhere you look with him,
there are the fingerprints of [U.S.] Intelligence."

Richard Nixon's chief of staff, H.R. (Bob) Halderman, also wrote that the many references heard on the White House "Watergate Tapes", made by Nixon to "the Bay of Pigs thing" was a direct reference to the Kennedy Assassination -- in which a bunch of the CIA's "Bay of Pigs" individuals were involved.

Bush unaware Castro might become ill

"The president's comment was that everybody was caught by surprise, and we'll have to wait and see" what U.S. action is necessary, said Sen. Robert Bennett, R-Utah, of his White House meeting with Bush on Tuesday. "I think all of us can say we had no idea this was coming."

How is it that the President of the United States had no idea that a potentially life-threatening illness was within the realm of possibility for an 80 year old man?

This is the Bush administration's next Katrina, if Castro dies.  "Nobody ever predicted the levees would break. That's why we didn't prepare for it."  "Nobody had any idea this (death of Castro) was coming. That's why we didn't do one jack-shittin' thing about it."  Jesus Christ these people... "giddy" according to CNN, yet they haven't prepared for this one whit, and are only now scrambling to pass ineffective legislation today, when we should have had a plan literally four DECADES in the making.
