There is a lot of hating going on regarding one black woman and black folks in general. Have you been watching all the reporting in the national media? One black woman seems to have pissed off a whole bunch of white folk, and a lot of black folks too. There are many black bloggers who support the sister, yet are concerned like black blogger, Black Super Woman who says, "I’m all for artistic expression, and think that she was definitely expressing herself in an artistic way by doing this. I saw the tape on the news and it was a beautiful rendition of Lift Every Voice. I just hope that this doesn’t turn into a “Black folks think they are uppity now that Obama is the nominee and if we elect him they are going to be uncontollable” moment. I like it when we go buck, but I don’t want Obama to lose votes because the masses get scared of a potential slave uprising."
So folks, was the black woman wrong for what she indicates was an expression of how she felt about living in the United States, as a black woman? Why didn't she do what Marvin Gaye did and sing the song she was contracted to sing?
Check out the report in USA today on the controversy after singer substitutes 'black national anthem' for 'Star-Spangled Banner'
A singer surprised dignitaries by singing Lift Every Voice and Sing, also known as the "black national anthem," to the tune of The Star-Spangled Banner during the mayor's State of the City address yesterday in Denver.
Rene Marie, who was introduced by City Council president Michael Hancock to perform the national anthem, says she made the switch without informing the mayor's office.
AAPP: I'm with James Clyburn, the House of Representatives majority whip who said: "At some point, she needs to congratulate the man for having won. Those kinds of things are important to us who grew up in the South with these kinds of slights. That speech cannot be seen as anything but a slight."

Congressman Andrews,
You have levelled a very serious charge at an unnamed senior Clinton campaign official. The charge is serious enough that, if true, would constitute a firing offence. Indeed, if the unnamed senior campaign official is guilty of what you accuse him/her of, then he/she should be banished from the Democratic party altogether.
Therefore, you should either name that official.. you obviously know who he/she is. Or you should STFU and quit making dark insinuations which cannot be verified!!
Is "Sunday Morning Apartheid gone? Is there still a very clear division, an exclusion of blacks to a large degree on Sunday Morning Talk shows? Is America still a nation involved in " Sunday Morning Apartheid" or is Felicia Lee at New York Times right when she wrote, "Like the Candidates, TV's Political Pundits Show Signs of Diversity?

This is great news for Dems in the upcoming primary on May 6th.
It's time to talk this out. I am going to express my feelings on this whole Wright "scandal." Yes, there was some fact to what Wright said. He addressed legitimate happenings in the past. But, it's time to stop defending his teachings, because they are not in sync with the Christianity that I feel most of us are familiar with and most of what he said was not fact.
It is also interesting to note that Ferraro's comments also had some fact and yes they were wrong. However, it is these same people that are defending Wright for "some fact" that tarred and feathered Ferraro for "some fact" as well. No matter how wrong Ferraro's comments were, they are by no means worse than what Wright has said.
The Huffington Post this morning published a story (John Hagee's McCain Endorsement Sparks Uproar) about McCain's endorsement by James Hagee, the founder of Christians United for Israel (CUI) and leader of the Christian Zionists, relating more fully the extent of Hagee's bigotry. Not only are Muslims in the sights of CUI's guns, but Catholics (The Great Whore), Blacks, gays, women, and others have also been targeted.
Hagee is the purveyor of a Christian eschatology in which end days are coming when Jews will be subjected to conversion, but his antiMuslim rhetoric, especially his support for attacking Iran, has attracted extreme right wing Israeli supporters like Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the extremist Likud party in Israel, and Joe Lieberman to his fold. Both Netanyahu and Lieberman have spoken at CUI conventions, and Hagee in turn has spoken before AIPAC, the face of the Israel Lobby in the US, which is also an advocate of Likud (no Palestinian state) politics.
For a while now, it has been confirmed that [prominent blacks] are being threatened to support Obama...even receiving death threats. We all know that Jesse Jackson Jr. has his own part in the threatening. John Lewis has switched from Clinton to Obama, which I think is strongly do to threatening and not actually his own opinion, but that is my own thought and I cannot speak for him.
