Bill O'Reilly sends one of his producers to harass Bill Moyers at the National Conference for Media Reform. today. Of course Moyers delivers a smack down of epic proportions.
For those that like listening to O'Reilly getting infuriated, there is a 40 minutes interview with him on NPR.
http://www.npr.org/...
He walks out at the end, and it's worth listening to his lies through it just to see him getting mad.
I heard this while at work today, and since Bill Moyers is such a sage of the left I just had to share it with you:
Broadcasting Legend Bill Moyers on the 2008 ElectionsAMY GOODMAN: What about Hillary Clinton now staying in the race?
BILL MOYERS: She's a--you know, I admire Hillary Clinton. I know what it's--I've seen over the years how hard it is for a woman, a married woman, to gain her independence in our society, whatever her profession, and I admire the way she's tried to negotiate her own persona, her own position, her own place in our politics. But if she stays in this race, it can only be at the expense, as I said, of her reputation and of Obama, because she can only move forward by attacking him, by continuing to say he can't win in November, which is not true.
I don't have a horse in this race. I enjoy watching it, and I actually have admiration for all three of these candidates within the political system. But she's got--she just cannot win, except--remember Marlene Dietrich in that great movie where Marlene Dietrich, the actress, says, "See what the boys in the back room will have and tell them I'll have the same"? She can only win in the metaphorical back room, in the superdelegates.
And the key date is not these upcoming primaries. She'll do alright in West Virginia. She'll do alright in San Juan in Puerto Rico. He will do well in Montana, South Dakota, and probably in basically white but liberal Oregon. But this--on May 31st, the Democratic Rules Committee meets to assess how to deal with the Michigan and Florida delegates. Thirteen of the members of that thirty-person committee are Clinton supporters, eight are Obama supporters, the others are undecided. If she were to muscle her way to a decisive moment in that Rules Committee where they decide to change the rules here in the last inning, she will really be hurt.
But that's the only way, barring lightning striking him. You know, that's what she keeps hoping for every day, is that lightning will strike him, and she'll have a--some October surprise in May will happen. That's not going to happen. She can only win in a way that would leave the Democratic Party in shambles.
Bill Moyers has written a touching lament for the tragedy of Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright.
"All the rest of us should hang our heads in shame for letting it come to this in America..."
All the rest of us, specifically everyone except Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright, should hang our heads in shame?
Shame on us... for anything and everything that happens anywhere ever in the history of the world? For every stupid, hateful thing that anyone may ever say or do?
This garbage sounds like a parody of "bleeding heart" liberals by Rush Limbaugh on one of his really bad days!
We should "hang our heads in shame for letting it come to this in America," when a black Senator can become the leading candidate for President of the United States?
We should "hang our heads in shame for letting it come to this in America," when the only thing that can keep Barack Obama out of the White House is his own cowardice for not confronting Jeremiah Wright?
I feel so ashamed that Barack Obama didn't have the balls to confront his hate-freak pastor for 20 years!
But look, says Bill Moyers! Jeremiah Wright doesn't scream hate-speech every second of every day!
Jeremiah Wright actually managed to talk to Moyers for a whole hour without screaming hate at whitey!
What a wonderful guy!
And when David Duke or some other KKK lunatic comes on Bill Moyers and manages to avoid the N-word for an hour...
Is Bill Moyers going to tell us how ashamed we should be for condemning the KKK?
This is a new low in low standards!
If you can act sane for 60 minutes, then anything else you may have ever said or done was probably just a freakish aberration!
Hurrah for Barack Obama and his hate-freak pastor!
But none of Moyers' excuses kept Obama from throwing Jeremiah Wright under the bus!
"He finally leaves Obama no choice but to end their friendship..."
Poor little Obama! No choice! Whitey made him renounce his dear friend! We should all be so ashamed!
Now let's all sing "God damn America!" along with Barack and Jeremiah and Bill Moyers, and spend the next 4 years wondering how the Democrats lost another election.
Bill Moyers' interview with Rev. Jeremiah Wright just concluded. Here are my notes:
Moyers begins by ackowledging Jeremiah Wright is a controversial figure, and that "Willie Horton style ads" are being run. He then talks about his personal connection to Wright. Apparently, back when Moyers was LBJ's press secretary, Wright was in operating room when President Johnson had gall bladder surgery. There is a photo of both of them together in the operating room. Wright claims the secret service wrestled him to the ground after the surgery, even though he was constantly in the operating room the entire morning. He said LBJ had to be awake and talking at 9 AM before the stock market opened, so there wouldn't be chaos.
More after the flip:
Roll up, roll up for the misery tour! That would be the upcoming media tour by the good Rev. Jeremiah Wright, which will no doubt be bringing misery upon Sen. Barack Obama's electability argument. Here's a list of some of Rev. Wright's "Greatest Hits" (w/ video excerpts):
"Israel (That Dirty Word Again!)"
"America's Chickens....... are Coming Home..... to Roooooooost"
"God Damn America!"
"The Government LIIIIIIIIED about Pearl Harbor!"
"The U.S. of KKK (A.)"
"Hillary ain't never been called a n***!"
"Fighting for Peace is like Raping for Virginity"
"What We are Doing is the Same Thing Al Qaeda is Doing"
"Monica (The Other White Meat)"
This week Bill Moyers reports what books the presidential candidates say they would bring with them to the White House. I love Hillary's answer, the Constitution. Not only is it a thoughtful response, but I get the sense she means it.
Here are the candidate answers:
SEN. JOHN MCCAIN: WEALTH OF NATIONS by Adam Smith because we may be entering some pretty shaky economic times.SEN. BARACK OBAMA: Doris Kearns Goodwin's book TEAM OF RIVALS. It was a biography of Lincoln, and he was confident enough to be willing to have these dissenting voices.
MIKE HUCKABEE: There's a great book by Francis Schaeffer that had a real influence on me, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE? And it talks about the dignity and worth of each individual.
SEN. HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: I would certainly bring a--my copy of the Constitution because there apparently was not a copy in the Bush White House the best I can determine. So I would bring THE FEDERALIST PAPERS.
MITT ROMNEY: JOHN ADAMS by David McCullough. A truly great leader who made a difference for America, and his example is one I'd want to follow.

Also, Obama supporter and progressive radio personality, Cenk Unger offers some surprising praise of Hillary's campaigning. I disagree with Uygur on two points, lobbyist(whom also work on the Obama campaign), and inspiration(Hillary inspires me, and I know lot's of people who feel the same way), but this is pretty nice commentary.
Finally, Hillary spoke with Tavis Smiley this week about the challenges of running as the first female front runner in a presidential primary. I really like what she has to say. She talks about how a female candidate doesn't fit the male model we are accustomed to and everyone is still sort of figuring out this new model.
Lou Dobbs, the anchor of Lou Dobbs Tonight on CNN, has sometimes expressed views I support, the US flag in the lapel flap is not one of them. According to Mr. Dobbs he began to wear his flag pin following the 9/11 attacks to show respect for those killed and support for the "war on Islamist extremists". I have never understood why some people feel it is necessary to display these symbols of nationality inside the country. I understand national pride and support displaying the flag in front of government buildings or national shrines, I understand displaying it on certain holidays, but to display it on your lapel seems a bit over the top. The problem I have with it is that it seems unnecessary and has been co-opted by forces that I choose not to associate myself with.
I heartily recommend the video and/or transcript of the Bill Moyers program last night on PBS. Two conservative scholars discussed why both Bush and Cheney should be impeached. I am writing my representative and senators today and will call their offices on Monday. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/071320 07/watch.html
