A sincere call for help.

Hey all.  I read an artice today that really sent me over the top.  Mike Falcone over at "The Caucus" wrote an article about how the criminal Karl Rove was attacking Obama on abortion.

No big deal so far.  The really aggravating part came with this segment here

"Though he helped derail Senator McCain's presidential bid during the 2000 Republican primary, Mr. Rove lavished praise on his party's presumptive nominee on Friday. He spoke glowingly of Mr. McCain and his wife's decision to adopt a child from an orphanage in Bangladesh."

No note of the irony of the fact that Rove derailed McCain's 2000 campaign by raising the spectre of McCain HAVING FATHERED A BLACK CHILD.  This he now goes on to praise.

So I realize that this is minor compared to the more egregious distortions going on with that Donut delivery service laughingly caled the Associated Press.  But hey different straws for different camel's backs.

The point is I am fed up and pissed off.

I have a burning desire to fight back lest my head explode.

I am pretty new at this whole game so I could use some help.  In fact I'm yelling out for it here.

For instance does anybody know of a reliable way to get the e-mails for these various authors?  I wanted to point out to Mr. Falcone the irony I noted above but couldn't find his e-mail address.

How else do you fight back?  I looking for advice from some of you more experienced hands out there.  How does one raise an effective stink outside our little echo-chamber here.

How do we at least make it uncomfortable for them when the media lies or allows themselves to pass on lies.

I'm tired of screaming at my computer.

So oh great and wise MyDD community...what advice might you have?

Hillary Clinton Continues to Impress Voters

An interesting survey of voters was conducted recently by by Knowledge Networks for the Associated Press and Yahoo! News:

http://news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008 -political-pulse-11202007

The horserace numbers first (Democratic primary):

Clinton 48
Obama 22
Edwards 13
Undecided 12
Others 5

More interesting are the impressions of '08 candidates:

"Which candidate is the most likable? ... None of the Democratic candidates has a clear advantage among Democratic voters, with Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards running about even. But in a sheer popularity contest, pitting the most likable Democrat vs. the best-liked Republican, it would be Obama over Giuliani, 54 percent to 46 percent ...

Ask voters which qualities are most important, though, and they put likability well down the list. They attach far more importance to being honest, ethical, decisive and strong."

What Rights Do We Have?

The Constitution is a living document. It is also our most precious historical document. All that America is and all that it will be is grounded in this document. But regardless of how precious it is there comes times when it must be amended to reflect the progress made in a more modern world.

We should interpret the Constitution as it fits our world today, but we must not take it to extremes. I would suggest that for abortion, gay marriage and gay rights, that there should be amendments. But as to privacy, we should let the Supreme Court hash it out and then we can rely on precedents. I believe that this mixing of the two would make this the living document that our founding fathers wanted it to be.

The Iraq debate: AP wankery and Harry Reid's backstabbing

(cross-posted at Deny My Freedom)

There has been a lot of good stuff coming out from the Democratic side this week on the 'debate' in the Senate about Iraq. In particular, Paul Begala wrote his first worthwhile piece in some time on the issue of division with Democrats. In fact, the idea that the Democrats are putting out two ideas for changing our foreign policy is a sign that yes, we do have ideas that are different from the GOP. Nowadays, it's the Republicans that are for the same old stale failed policies that have encompassed the past 5+ years. But once again, the Associated Press steps up to the plate to deliver the meme: Democrats can't seem to agree on anything:

WASHINGTON - When two Democrats looking toward 2008 pushed hard for a firm date on withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, they crashed headlong into Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid's effort to retake the Senate this year.

Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Russ Feingold of Wisconsin want to pull out all combat forces over the next year, a proposal that delights the left wing of the Democratic Party but that failed overwhelmingly in the Senate on Thursday.

AP Fires Well-Known Vermont Editor

Chris Graff, a well-known Vermont AP bureau chief, has suddenly lost his job.

Graff is also the father of Garrett Graff, who served as deputy national press secretary on Howard Dean's presidential campaign and, beginning in 1997, was then-Governor Dean's first webmaster, according to his bio at Media Bistro's FishBowlDC.

More about Graff pere on the jump.
