Frank Rich On ABC's "Tawdry" Debate

As usual Frank Rich doesn't mince words in looking at ABC's Debate:

Shoddy! Tawdry! A Televised Train Wreck!

Of course, Obama fans were angry because of the barrage of McCarthyesque guilt-by-association charges against their candidate, portraying him as a fellow traveler of bomb-throwing, America-hating, flag-denigrating terrorists.

This line of attack trys to ignore the fact that America's most dammaging traitors now occupy our White House.

Ludicrous as the whole spectacle was, ABC would not have been so widely pilloried had it not tapped into a larger national discontent with news media fatuousness. The debate didn't happen in a vacuum; it was the culmination of the orgy of press hysteria over Mr. Obama's remarks about "bitter" small-town voters. For nearly a week, you couldn't change channels without hearing how Mr. Obama had destroyed his campaign with this single slip at a San Francisco fund-raiser. By Wednesday night, the public was overdosing.

I agree that Americans are fed up with this kind of hysterical trivia reaching a saturation point in the media.

STEPHANAPOULOS DID OBAMA A FAVOR

I know it sounds off the wall, but bear with me. Not only did Stephanapoulos do Obama a favor, but methinks he may have done it on purpose, to undermine Hillary. Here's why.

Special Interests Tougher than 90 Minutes of Questions

Appearing on FOX 29 Good Morning Philadelphia, this morning, Hillary was asked about Senator Obama's complaints all day yesterday about the debate Wednesday night.

"Being asked questions in a debate is nothing like pressures you face in the Whitehouse."

The Media's Reluctant Coverage Of Barack Obama

I'm tired of all the Obama supporters getting their underwear in a twist when the media does them dirty. You know what? The likes of MSNBC, CNN, and other outlets been doing Hillary Clinton dirty since the Iowa caucus. So go cry a river of bitterness somewhere else. The Dailykos, say.

It's a crime. An absolute crime that the media operates which such reluctant coverage of Barack Obama. I don't know if they're afraid of the blow back from his supporters or if they're rooting for him and intentionally overlook important issues about him. What I do know is that no one should be crying over Barack's debate performance because you all know that whenever Tim Russert and his MSNBC knock around guys put the pool sticks to Hillary's legs in those debates the media looked the other way like the guy standing outside the store while his buddies burglarized it.

Bill Clinton could fart and it would be front page news, yet Michele Obama saying "America in 2008 is a down right mean country" wouldn't even make the back page of the Providence Times. So don't play this blame game because ABC decided to do it's job. Both candidates faced the fire and Obama got burned. Hillary didn't, end of story. If Hillary Clinton had been associated with Jeremiah Wright for the past 20 years the media would persecute her to high noon. Yet with Barack Obama it's just guilt by association. I'm growing weary of the media drubbing this election in favor of Barack Obama and his supporters. You don't want to upset them but if the truth upsets people then oh well.

[UPDATE] Someone: Clue in Obama! His Campaign Chair is a Lobbyist.

"Obama campaign repeatedly declines Sunday to explain Obama's debate denial." - The Page

ORIGINAL: And I thought he was the candidate for change? Mr. "No More Special Interests"? We already have a President who is completely clueless. Why does Senator Obama want to emulate W? Poor Obama is completely out of the loop and doesn't realize that his New Hampshire campaign chairman is a lobbyist. A big-time lobbyist for the pharmaceutical industry at that.
