Obama On Fox News: "Entirely Devoted To Attacking My Administration"

From an interview with CNBC yesterday:

In another interview yesterday, Harwood told the president that "media critics would say not only has it not come, but that you have gotten such favorable press -- either because of bias or because you're good box office -- that it's hurting the country, because you're not being sufficiently held accountable for your policies."

The president said "it's very hard for me to swallow that one. First of all, I've got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration."

"I assume you're talking about Fox," Harwood said.

"Well, that's a pretty big megaphone," the president said. "And you'd be hard-pressed, if you watched the entire day, to find a positive story about me on that front."

Fox News is, of course, not news. We know it, and the president knows it.

I love it when Obama refuses to take the right wing media lying down.

Obama is completely wrong (2.00 / 1)

they spend at least 15% of their time talking about Carrie Prejean!  That leaves a maximum of 85% of the time attacking Obama.

Re: Obama On Fox News (2.00 / 2)

Just taking off on the point Mollusk made, Fox has to meet a 20 percent airtime quota of jiggling bikini tops.  So they have to find stories that will let them run that video, even if it's as transparent as 'Are bikini's too tight?  The Family Research Council says yes. [Intro to Miama Vice runs behind Shep Stewart's gargantuan head].

So that leaves only 80%.

I am totally okay with their plastic anchors and bountiful bikinis. More of that, less racist hate-mongering.

On Fox News (2.00 / 1)

I can't even turn the TV to Fox because my TV falls of the stand to right. I mean seriously do you know how many TV's I've gone through. I wonder if Rupert Murdoch will refund money to replace them....

Re: On Fox News (2.00 / 1)

Well, to Fox's credit they have upgraded their liberal counterpoint from Alan Colmes to a nice-looking oak hat stand.

Re: On Fox News (none / 0)

Actually, has anyone else noticed that ever since he left Fox, Alan Colmes has become much more articulate and much less toolish?  Makes you wonder if he just got paid extra to sound like an idiot on Fox...

Unfortunately (2.00 / 1)

MSNBC isnt any better from the left....I listen to NPR and PBS....and a few others scattered, but I cant watch MSNBC or FOX, both are to the extreme elements...

by BuckeyeBlogger on Wed Jun 17, 2009 at 07:15:45 PM EST

Re: Unfortunately (2.00 / 1)

I disagree the difference between MSNBC and FOX punditry is that for the most part MSNBC is at least based in reality, whereas FOX is certainly not. I by no means mean to say that MSNBC is "Fair and Balanced", but they at the very least they don't claim to be.

The only person that I have a problem with at least pundit wise on MSNBC is Chris Matthews some of the shit he says throws me for a loop. And yes while MSNBC defiantly leans to left at least they try to maintain some journalist integrity (ie. just not make shit up). So no besides being on the opposite side of the spectrum the cannot be compared by any means.

Re: Unfortunately (none / 0)

Olberman is an idiot. He was hated by most of his peers at ESPN for a good reason. He is a sports guy with an ego to big for his own head....I cant watch him, or maddow or most of them....just maddening...

Re: Unfortunately (2.00 / 2)

You apparently have never watched Keith Olbermann if you think he is and idiot. His commentary is quite the opposite, as far as the big ego I suppose you don't understand irony.

Now the one thing I really like about Olbermann and Maddow is that when they have people on they actually allow them to speak regardless of their opinions I'll bet you don't see that on Fox News.

Re: Unfortunately (2.00 / 3)

Without hyperbole, Maddow is one of the best TV interviewers in decades.  Her interview with Colin Powell was a classic: she asked all the toughest questions, and he was clearly uncomfortable, but she was never anything but respectful throughout.

Re: Unfortunately (none / 0)

No I think you're dead wrong with Keith Olbermann perhaps you have him confused with Wolf Blitzer. Then again I hate this I know a guy on the "inside" who says hes a jerk, idiot, and arrogant. Unless you have met him personally I take that with a grain of salt.

Re: Unfortunately (none / 0)

Whatever...I think he stinks. And I stand  by what others have said about him...enough peoople who I know have worked with him and cant stand the guy for alot of reasons. Now does that matter if he is good at what he does? No, but personally, I think he stinks.

Re: Unfortunately (none / 0)

Okay if we are using the definition of idiot in terms to intelligence and not just a random insult, I believe you are wrong.  If this thing between you and Keith is personal...well this is politics, it's nothing personal.

Re: I watched him often before Summer '08 (none / 0)

I think of lot of this resentment for Keith Olbermann comes from not understanding ironic argumentation. I've come to learn quiet well that general when other people insult the intelligence of others they have no further to look than themselves.

Obama on Fox (none / 0)

Most of the cable news networks seem to do as much news as MTV does music videos.  Mostly cable news is wall to wall punditry with Olberman and O'Reilly being the reigning blowhards.  Different sides. Same coin.

msnbc (2.00 / 1)

I think the whole idea of us attacking MSNBC for being too left or liberal is slightly ridiculous.  Yeah they may be biased but EVERYTHING is biased in one form or another.  Even if we had one perfect news source, we would still internalize it and spin it for ourselves.  At least these guys are on our side.  I am tired of the left agreeing with the talking points on the right just because they were spoken enough to make even us believe that they are true.  The whole liberal media idea was created during the Nixon administration when they didn't want the public to listen to the media.  And yet to this day, we still continue to perpetuate this defamation.
