Thank You Repubs and Sarah Palin! - Update

From Ben Smith at Politico:

Palin raises $8 million -- for Obama
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0 908/Palin_raising_for_Obama_.html?showal l

Obama's coffers have been filling since Sarah Palin attacked him repeatedly in St. Paul last night.

An Obama aide confirms Drudge's report that Obama has raised about $8 million from more than 130,000 donors and is on pace to raise $10 million by the time McCain reaches the stage tonight.

UPDATE: Obama spokesman Bill Burton says, "Sarah Palin's attacks have rallied our supporters in ways we never expected. And we fully expect John McCain's attacks tonight to help us make our grass-roots organization even stronger."

How about we push it even higher? Let's make this a MONEY BOMB.

How about $12 million or $14 million OR???!

UPDATE:
The following is an update from Todd, taken from his frontpage diary.

Update [2008-9-4 20:44:59 by Todd Beeton]:Interesting, looks like I'm not alone. MSNBC is reporting that the RNC has raised $1 million for John McCain since Sarah Palin's speech while Barack Obama has raised $8 million.

So, whose base is Palin exciting again?

Update [2008-9-4 21:11:54 by Todd Beeton]:Ambinder on Twitter reports that the Obama campaign is saying they've raised $10 million since last night.

Pugs only raise $1 mill (2.00 / 2)

In comparison (according to George Stephanolopous on ABC's World News Tonight,) the RNC raised only  $1 million, since last nite.

Thanks for the reminder, Kevin. I remember you from the primary wars (it seems so long ago) and I'm so happy to be able to fight, shoulder to shoulder with you for our party's nominee!

Oh I almost forgot:

Dear Danny,

Thank you for your generous donation of $25.00.

From the beginning, this campaign has been funded by supporters like you giving only what they can afford.

More than 2 million individual donors have stepped up to own a piece of this campaign -- which means Barack is not beholden to anyone but the American people.

Thank you for building this movement for change,

Obama for America

P.S. -- Your first edition Obama-Biden car magnet will be shipping soon.

I gave $50 on friday (2.00 / 1)

The moment I heard that Palin was the VP nominee, I knew it was probably going to get ugly.  I donated money right there and then.

Can't really afford to give more for a bit, though.

Re: Thank You Repubs and Sarah Palin! (2.00 / 1)

I spoke to a woman who works in my department (at a major university).  Probably late 50s, progressive, intellectual, vehement Clinton supporter and donor through the entire campaign.  She told me that she watched Palin's speech last night and then sent her first check to Obama.

by markjay on Thu Sep 04, 2008 at 07:06:03 PM EST

And another $50. (2.00 / 1)

Honestly, at this point I've lost count of how many donations I've made to the Obama campaign. First time I've ever come close to this level of political funding.

Re: Thank You Repubs and Sarah Palin! (2.00 / 2)

I just gave $100, and if McCain pisses me off more than Palin did, OR he puts me to sleep, Barack gets another $50.
The diary over at Dkos that Kevin linked to said the RNC has only raised $1 million dollars.
Sweet.

Re: Thank You Repubs and Sarah Palin! (2.00 / 2)

I gave for the first time to Obama over the weekend after I saw that horror show on Friday.

I am supposed to get the magnet - I will PROUDLY place it on my car.  That Palin person has energized me - TO REALLY show my support.

and this was from an unenthusiastic Obama supporter - Palin may have energized the republican base, but she has REALLY energized this HRC supporter!
