Good.  I didn't like Obamas statement this morning where he let McCain off the hook.  Obama and the Dems need to hang the economy around the GOP, and by extension McCain, at every turn.  In plain simple language we need to point fingers without hesitation.  Worst case scenario, the GOP tried to deny the allegation, so what.  As the old expression goes, if you are on the defensive, you've lost.

not that there's ever a good time for bad financial news, but, frankly, the market tumbling couldn't come at a better time than now.  It's important that voters get an "in your face" view of what the last 8 years of Republican economics brings us.  Deregulate the financial industry and give all the tax breaks to the wealthy and this is what happens.  You can say it again and again, but without some tangible problems, people don't get it.

oh, and by "tangible," I mean major economic problems.  People are far too likely to dismiss their own bad financial luck as their own failing.  But when major markets crash...

I am and have been an Obama supporter who has been concerned over the last 10 days about where they were taking the campaign message.  They needed to find a way to connect with voters at a gut level on the economy, etc.

I think this is it--essentially, here we go again.  Repubs promise to be bipartisan, put aside special interests and change the tone in Washington.  The result--the worst presidency in modern American history, with the middle class left in the rear view mirror.

If I were the campaign, I'd produce an ad that would highlight the economic concerns of the middle class, then feature clips of Bush making these promises in 2000 and then cut to McCain saying the same thing in the last few weeks.

America can't afford more of the same.

After almost 3 weeks of trivial crap being pushed by the McCain campaign and the media, reality has intruded today.  The credit markets are melting down and that means people can't buy homes, cars or start businesses.  I don't care about the Wall Street bankers but this has real life impact that will be felt throughout the country.

This is serious stuff and McCain really has no clue.  Read his comment about the fundamentals of the economy being strong.  WTF???   Will anyone, even his rich buddies, buy that one?

The ground is shifting quickly back to issues like the economy and that is a strength for Obama and the Dems.  

When McCain is out there stumping on reforming Washington, ridding it of lobbyists, and banning earmarks (yeah, right), he looks so desperate. Just words. No action. He's had 26 years to reform Washington, and he's failed. He could have used his popularity and status after 2000 to work with Bush and pass legislation to reform Washington; however, he did not and for this no one should trust his recent rhetoric.  

Republicans got complete control of the national government, and this is what they produced.  They put conservative ideology into law and policy domestically and internationally, and it proved to be disastrous.

Each time Republicanism and conservatism have failed, a new candidate has stepped forward claiming that they were somehow better than that, they they offered a new and improved Republicanism, new and improved conservatism.  Bush 41 called himself "kinder, gentler."  Bush 43 called himself "a different kind of Republican."  McCain -- Bush 44 -- now says he is a conservative Republican, but "a reformer."

But each time the result is the same.  Recession.  Foreclosures.  Corruption.  Financial crises.  Health care crisis.  Deficits and debt.  International isolation.

McCain will be no different, no matter how he tries to dress this up.  He is Bush 44.

We need to confront this head-on, agressively and relentlessly.  Republicanism is a failure.  Conservatism is a failure.  McCain will be more of the same.

Yeah, just wait until Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid come crashing down.  Then we'll have them!
