mccain raises some big dough - Want To Help Counter This?

Seems that mccain has been able to raise some serious dough.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26498478/

Republican presidential candidate John McCain raised at least $47 million in August, his biggest haul of money so far...
...
Another official said that the Republican Party and the campaign will have between $224 million and $240 million available next week going into the fall campaign.

I was also just watching CSPAN and they had the FEC hearings on. It sounds like the mccain camp is maybe trying to get out of the federal funding. Has anyone else heard about this?

I was really curious to not see any huge calls for Obama/Biden donations, on the blogs, during or after the convention. Hopefully people did it on their own!

How about I try and get something started here at MyDD for Obama/Biden AND the DNC.

More below...

Here are some ways you can participate in this call for donations.

First off is my g/f Washington Woman ActBlue page:
http://www.actblue.com/page/wethepeople

My Page at Barack Obama's website:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/ view/main/kevin22262

The Democratic Party:
https://www.democrats.org/page/contribut e?source=NETA454

I started this off with $25.00 to Obama/Biden and $25.00 to the Democratic Party (through ActBlue and the Obama site)

Anyone else?

Can you help out? (2.00 / 2)

I sure hope the Obama camp did better in August!

Lets make sure Obama has the money to compete and blow mccain out of the water! That means helping other down ticket races through the Democratic Party!

As soon as my check comes, (2.00 / 2)

I'll be giving more $$$$ to Democrats. And if you don't mind...

There's this other site that makes it easy to donate to Obama-Biden AND to some great Democrats running for Congress. I've really come to like it. ;-)

Look at that (2.00 / 1)

I wonder who's ActBlue page that is? Hmmm?  ;)

By the way, have you ventured over to Wes Clark's site?

Some of the puma are getting feisty. I have had it with some of them. I am not going to play nice with people trying to use Wes Clark's website and name to bash Obama and advocate for mccain and the repubs!

Want To Help Counter This? (2.00 / 3)

Actually, the FEC hearings were a couple of weeks ago  (you're watching reruns) and McCain will not be held to his pledge to use public funds. I was hopeful but not really surprised at the outcome.
I donated $100 to Barack in August and plan to do so again in September when I get paid next week.
Good for you for your Act Blue page, Kev, it's where I do all my online donations.

Thanks! (2.00 / 2)

I did not know of mccain doing this.

We really need to push the fundraising, we have such a short time and small dollars over time is good but not in this shortened period of time before the GE.

the rethugs are calling out the big guns.

Speaking of local candidates..... (2.00 / 3)

Hi Kevin,

Did you see all the Rossi ads on the air during the Demo Convention?

He is definately going after the swing vote, playing his "independent" card.

Get paid on Wed, think I can send both Christine and Barack some cash then....

I did not see that. (2.00 / 2)

I watched most of the convention in replays or online.

Don't forget the DNC, if you can.

Re: mccain raises some big dough--eek (2.00 / 3)

Thanks for posting.  I had contributed through the primary but was tapped out.  This is a good reminder I need to scrounge up some more to give.

Re: mccain raises some big dough (2.00 / 2)

I gave another $25 to Obama/Biden this morning (a little before 2am), but I'm not sure if that'll be applied to the August tally or the September one.

Was the midnight deadline Pacific or Eastern?

I plan on continuing to give at least $25 a month until the election.  Have to do my part.

I gave $30 in August. (2.00 / 2)

It will have to do.

Every little bit helps! (2.00 / 1)

I think it is a good idea to advertise when we give to help remind people to give.

Obama could run into a problem like Hillary did. That is people thinking she was set with money, so they were not giving until the word came out that she was hurting for cash. Once that happened it flowed in but it was too late.

Ok (none / 0)

So I read the Obama campagin is hoping to raise $200 million in Sept and Oct between his and the DNC....man that's alot but I wonder if when he was only allowing a little bit to go to the GE fund, if this is when the faucet comes on? I know that he was getting like 50 mil but then would only put like 7 mil in for the GE...is this the reason? To hold back and then now be able to have those donaters be able to donate again for the GE? I'm not as up on the campaign finance as I'd like to be so can anyone clarify? Thanks

Not sure (none / 0)

but the real question is, can you donate to Obama and the DNC now?
I hope so, if not maybe volunteer?
