A good compromise.

Barack Obama states his support for FISA is a "good compromise".  Apparently, a majority of the Senate (and the House, let's remember) think so, too.  For an examination of the compromise, please watch the following:

Democrats are the majority party (2.00 / 2)

in both houses of Congress.  Barack Obama is the presumptive leader of the Democratic Party.  Will someone, please, step up and lead?

Why? (none / 0)

I did, in the NUMEROUS other Obama-FISA-Vote diaries.

You had nothing new to add, so I didn't either.

Love Jonathan Turley, however.

Funny, I used to HATE him, during the impeachement of The Big Dog.

Maybe that is how you ardent Clinton supporters will feel about President Obama in about 2013.

How about someone who actually read the Bill (none / 0)

Funny how things change when there is actual information instead of hyperbole and outrage.

Good clip.  Personally, I never understood why telecoms should be liable for acquiescing to White House requests.  I've always thought the issue laid at the feet of the Bush administration.
As such, I never understood Obama's campaign promise to filibuster telecom immunity.

I never understood (none / 0)

why anyone would actually think there is any credibility in a campaign promise by ANYONE.

Simple rule, vote for who you have the most faith in, not their promises...no politician will keep all their promises.

Either you are smarter than I or more cynical than I.

Cynical probably (none / 0)

but I've worked in politics and I quickly gave up on that idea.

I've studied politics in England and Italy and guess what? No better there either. As a matter of fact, it's probably worse.

Politicians will say and do anything to get elected, because they have to. People just won't vote for the honest guy or girl...they may respect their honesty, but they vote for the one who tells them what they want to hear...so they'll tell you what you want to hear.

sort of on topic (none / 0)

Today was the third day this week that Rachel Maddow hosted Countdown.  I think she did last Thursday as well.  Absolutely fantastic.  I don't have cable here, but MSNBC is forward-looking enough to provide a great quality 200MB copy of every day's episode as a podcast.

They only have the current episode in the feed, but the rest are still online if you have the url.

July 7
July 8
July 9

They actually go back significantly further than that; I just tried a link from early June and it worked.
