Obama's New Response Ad: McSame is part of the problem and full of Gimmicks

I am a little disappointed that Obama's campaign has chosen not to call McCain a flip flopper on everything.

However, it seems they want the voters to view McSame as Bush 2.0 and probably don't want the public to think that McSame changes his views based on reality.

Anyhow, there's a decent response ad, that hopefully will get the media to focus on McCain's offshore drilling gimmick as well as McSame's May to June flip flop on drilling.

I like that it messages 4 things:

1. Bush is McCain, identical voting records

2. McCain is a washington insider

3. McCain is proposing election year gimmicks

4. Obama is proposing TAX CUTS

it's also fairly positive, lets see if the media gives this the proper coverage it deserves

my only regret is the word "gimmick" isn't used cause that's all McSame's got. But I do love how Bush kisses McCain on the top of his head like he's bushes gimpy brother.

Re: Where is the ad being aired? (2.00 / 2)

Okay this my bare bones analysis. Looking at it with no bias.

Comparative ads are not positive ads but they are effective ads.

I would have liked to see Obama say how his plan would be earlier than the 7 years. You know a real solid comparison.

As far as comparing the latest McCain ad to this Obama ad (and only this one)- McCain's ad pulls more at heart strings i.e. more inspirational.

valid points (none / 0)

but remind me again why Gen. Clark's comments were not fair game for this election when McCain's military record is all he's got?

Re: valid points (2.00 / 2)

It totally fair- However, voters and American voters especially respond to patriotism , service , military with much emotion behind it. If you look at the human psychological gene pool- You will find that they are more of us that react to inspiration over those who are analytical.

So when Wes Clark made his comment about McCain, the McCain camp went in for the response that would tug at the emotional voter's vs. the ones who would analyze his actual words. And they won on it. Obama was forced to disavow the comment

Re: in NC (none / 0)

I guess thats an easy judgement.

I live in Maryland, a very blue state (too blue dog for my tastes)

And Obama's adds were the first I ever really noticed for a national campaign.
That was the week before our Primary.

My whole life I was always dissapointed as the state where half the population is less than an hour from DC would get more campaigning.

As a result we have the weakest "base" here, and almost non-existant volunteer activist base.

I would love to live in a swing state, maybe even red.

Obama may not (none / 0)

feel that MN is competitive in the same way that McCain doesn't feel GA and NC will be competitive.  Interestingly, McCain is not airing his newest ad in Minnesota, Michigan, and the Pacific Northwest.  Is he slowly recognizing that these states will be uphill climbs for him?

Re: Obama's New Response Ad: McSame is part of th (none / 0)

I specifically love that Obama isn't shying away from numbers.  It seems to me that a lot of political ads underestimate the intelligence of voters to understand simple concepts.

"Not a drop of oil for seven years" is pitch-perfect.

is using the visual of bush hugging mccain, who looks like his mini-me in the footage.

I forgot that bush actually kissed him on the head like a beaten down mentally challenged relative

If John Kerry (none / 0)

had gone hard against Bush like Obama is, he'd be President right now. Here is an ad Barack Obama try to emulate.

Re: i'm glad the campaign (2.00 / 1)

Y'know, I wasn't even thinking about it, but you're right, that's one of the worst and most demeaning things Bush has ever done. Kissing McCain on his head is also reminiscent of Homer Simpson kissing Hans Moleman. "Kiss his head, he tastes like a peanut!"
