Declaring Independence from Politics as Usual

This Friday, we celebrate 232 years of independence. We celebrate not only our country's independence - but the independent spirit we as Americans all share.

Independence Day isn't just about our past, it's also about our future.  Our campaign is committed to practicing a new brand of politics, and that requires each of us to recommit ourselves to the principles our founding fathers fought for.

Over the past several months, I have challenged you to step up to the plate and help us in that effort.  And boy, have you delivered.  We are still adding up our totals for the second quarter, but because of your continuing generosity we are confident that we will have the resources to compete with a powerful special interest machine in November.

When voters hear our message, there's no way our opponent can compete. With your help, we will be able to reach voters from Omaha to Scottsbluff. For that, I just can't say enough.

As always, thank you for everything that you do and I hope you and your family have a happy and safe holiday weekend.

All the best,
Scott Kleeb

Couldn't we at least get a few comments in support of one of the netroots favorite candidates?

Don't worry too much about us, Scott. We are busy arguing about unimportant stuff at the moment. That will change as the election cycle heats up.

Good luck with your campaign. You are an inspiration to many.

I'm with you all the way Scott. And please forgive the mess, that this site has become. Housekeeping has been sadly absent.

Re: Declaring Independence (none / 0)

Scott, do you think Obama has a shot at turning CD-1's electoral vote blue? And can we tie Johanns to Bush's record of failed political appointees like Michael Brown?

Final question - how can we encourage more people to feed cattle grass rather than grain? Grass is healthier for the cow, cheaper for the farmer, and better for the environment (cows can harvest grass themselves right on the farm - as opposed to the energy spent planting, harvesting, and transporting grain). We'd be better off subsidizing farmers than creating unnecessary demand.

Re: Declaring Independence (none / 0)

I can answer the last question at least- American consumers prefer grain fed beef, even though "grain fed" is kind of a misnomer, as less than half of the ration is actual grain in most cases.
You need to change the consumer, not the farmer- the farmer/rancher produces what the consumer buys.
