McCain's Big Louisiana event

How does McCain expect to steal some of Obama's spotlight at his undisclosed Louisiana event this Thursday, besides announcing a VP?  My first guess is that he has what he considers to be a "major" endorsement lined up possibly.  I can only think of four people off the top of my head that haven't endorsed him yet but would be considered newsworthy endorsements.  They are:

1) Mayor Bloomberg

  1. Secretary Rice
  2. General Powell
  3. Dr. Dobson

My second guess is that McCainwill announce that he will only serve one term if elected.

My third guess is that he'll officially flop on ANWR.

My final guess is that he'll drop out and announce that he'll serve as Obama's VP.

It looks like he is going to try and pull the Religious Reich together by picking the only snake handler left in a govrnor's office, or in this case, an exorcist.

How would Bobby (none / 0)

pass any vetting test?  He was hit with an ethics violation on his first day in office, something that McCain has become all too familar with during his time in Washington, D.C.

Re: How would Bobby (none / 0)

It was mentioned by someone that Bobby is so young
that this would emphasize McCains old age. In other words it would be a bad move to go with Bobby J

Re: Jindal (none / 0)

I'd love to face McCain/Jindal.

Let's hope for a VP debate this fall.  Anyone that Obama chooses as VP should destroy Jindal in a debate.

This could be fun.

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

he would be foolish to name a vp this week and thursday would be a terrible day to do it.

I bet there isn't anything special on that day

" isn't anything special on that day " (none / 0)

Snark?

BERLIN | German Chancellor Angela Merkel will welcome Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to her office in Berlin next Thursday, her spokesman said Friday.

McDesperate will be as buried as a dung beatle standing behind an elephant.

It's obvious (none / 0)

that lori was referring to anything special occurring for McCain on Thursday.  Put down the kool-aid and water-carrying just for one second.

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

I've heard he will not announce his VP this week.
They were just trying to get the spotlight.

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

I'm still not "concerned" about any loss of "Obamacans" regardless of what happens with the McCain event in Lousiana on Thursday.

Concern is for losers .... (none / 0)

and McPumas.

"All I hear from you people is 'Bobby Lee is going to this, Bobby Lee is going to do that'. To listen to you, you'd think General Lee was going to do a triple somersault and land behind our lines. Stop worrying about what General Lee is going to do to you and start thinking about what you're going to do to General Lee."

In all fairness I'm pretty sure Grant said that before Cold Harbor.

In fact, he said it before... (none / 0)

Are you sure that wasn't Roscoe P. Coltrane saying that?

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

Anyone else remember what happened the last time McCain tried to upstage Obama when he was giving a major speech?

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

In 1896 William McKinley campaigned from his front porch. Rather than travel to where the people were he would receive delegations of supporters on the porch of his home.

McBush would probably be better off if he campaigned that way and limited his public exposure, which always puts him in a bad light.

Re: McCain's Big Louisiana event (none / 0)

There obviously must be some line of reasoning behind McDesperate's repeated visits to what should be a solid red state, but I must admit it eludes me.

At best he just reminds everyone of his mentor Bush's ongoing callous handling of the Katrina Disaster.

by Beren on Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 10:16:26 PM EST

he will only serve one term if elected. (none / 0)

That would be an admission that he's too old to serve even one term.

by Beren on Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 10:17:38 PM EST

no way its jindal (none / 0)

I don't care how much the wingnuts like Jindal's views on religion etc, the GOP base is not going to put a dark skinned person into the presidency.

by highgrade on Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 10:27:38 PM EST

But why would he be in Lousiana? (none / 0)

Louisiana has to be one of the five or six safest states for McCain.

So is he campainging for GOP candidates there?

Maybe I'm skeptical, but McCain really needs the evangelicals, so maybe Novak is onto something.

Jindal it may be.

Re: But why would he be in Lousiana? (none / 0)

Actually, it seems just the kind of lame thing McDesperate would do...

"See? I have a dark skinned guy on my ticket too!"
