Thank you Senator McCain! I was unaware that there was a sensitive situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border. In fact, I was unaware that these two countries shared a border. In fact, I'm not sure they know they share a border.

Obama needs to be worried about making a gaffe? Can the press actually cover this stuff or what?

How many more of these does Senator McCain get to make? Why won't more people catch it? I've got exactly one Republican buddy who's lamented (in my presence) the Senator's inability to remember basic geography or obey the laws of time and space.

McCain has so much experience, he sees borders that those of us with less experience can never hope to perceive.

Hey, with all those trips to the region he's taken (which are clearly necessary to determine policy in the region), maybe he's found something that Rand-McNally missed.

He's a visionary. He sees the borders that could be if we all just tried a little harder.

If you're being chased by an angry bull and then you notice you're also being chased by a swarm of bees, it doesn't really change things. Just keep on running.

Ok. Pakistan and Iraq are currently separated by a wilderness called 'Iran'. What if his intent were to split Iran in two halves, annexing the western half to Iraq and the eastern half to (the tribal areas of) Pakistan?

Wouldn't that be an elegant way of turning a major gaffe into a masterpiece of geopolitical creativity?

Elegant in the McCain sense of the term, of course.

If anyone wants a laugh (and diary material), Drudge is reporting that the NY Times rejected a McCain editorial in rebuttal to Obama's, because McCain refused to include any information about what "victory" in Iraq would mean, despite spending vast amounts of space attacking Obama on that very issue.

You laugh, but if Obama has his way, it's only a matter of time before hordes of Al Qaeda pour out of Iraq and annex the Sudatenland.
