My DD's Deevolution (a Comedy)

My final post here:

The essence of the majority of threads here are amazingly consistent and sad:

Blogger: "Obama is (fill in the blank)"
Response: "No his is not, You are a troll"
Blogger: "No I'm not, you are"
Response:"Not only are you a troll, but you sound like a Republican"
Blogger: "Funny, you sound like a Republican and a troll"

Another once insightful website infested with black/white, either or, I know you are but what am I,  grade school intellect and behavior.

Given your PUNY..I mean PUMA type posts of the past...
You enjoy your bullshit too much to really leave...
I look forward to more posts under a different name.
However, if in fact you are sincere may I offer
a tap yer toes song...

i agree... (2.00 / 4)

but i will say that (and im not justifying this) one must develop a reputation here and then gets treated accordingly.

yes - there are some purity trolls, but there is also a lot of PUMA therefore this has made it difficult to gauge the intentions of many users.

Re: i agree... (2.00 / 1)

there's that black/white thing, the current meme here is that if you have ANY questions about BHO you are PUMA and must be purged from the party and the site. It is almost as if some folks secretly want PUMA to matter...

"Develop a Reputation" Degrades MyDD (none / 0)

The clubiness and prima donna (and dons) atmosphere is a turn-off to those seeking informed discussion.

I have seen some using MyDD as a chat-room, not contributing anything of substance at times, referring to others as "the dregs" of the site.

The atmosphere at times resembles a scene from "Lord of the Flies", ganging up on someone who has every right to post an opinion, however distasteful it might be to others.  One wonders who made the gangs the arbiters of opinion.

In the real world, where people have real names and faces and lives, such behavior would make the perpetrators pariahs, but on MyDD it is encouraged by others who have bonded.

When a real subject comes along- like BENAWU's analysis, or a discussion of TIPS in the current economic markets, it's like offering water to a person denied hydration for too long.

Re: "Develop a Reputation" Degrades MyDD (2.00 / 1)

As Democrats, we're not looking to accept things as they are; we're looking to improve the scenery, make the world better for our having been here, making lemonade out of the lemons we've been handed, etc.

If it continues as it is, we'll lose some who might have added to our understanding of what we as Americans and as Democrats are up against.

We can improve this site by not uprating  meanspirited statements that fit our own personal biases.  Just let them be.  Perhaps more selectivity in reccing  and rating would serve MYDD well.  Make your recs and rating mean something.  Too cheap recs and ratings devalues the system; like grade inflation- it loses it's meaning.

You've shown yourself to be a reasonable blogger, Canadian Gal, and I know you can contribute a lot to returning MyDD to a worthwhile discussion site.

thank you for the compliment. (none / 0)

and if i am being honest - i now try and stay away from diaries that are flame wars unless they are written by bloggers i respect.  doing so has made my time here and the level of discussion much better for me.

i generally uprate comments that i agree with or are funny or smart or make me think. and i generally do not TR/HR.  on the occasions that i do - its usually pretty bad.

there are a lot of unsavoury people here - my advice - do what i do - avoid them.

I think we're pretty much on the same page in this respect.

Re: My DD's Deevolution (a Comedy) (2.00 / 5)

So let me get this straight. If I was to drift over to a pro PUMA site and put up a diary or comment extolling the virtues and benefits of voting for Obama, I would be welcome with open arms?

Good to know.

Actually, I tried to do just that (2.00 / 5)

Well, not even that. I posted in a thread on Alegre's Corner. It was about nuclear power and criticized Obama for saying "we should explore nuclear power as part of our energy mix." I posted a Youtube video of Senator Clinton saying "I think nuclear power needs to be part of our energy solution" and got into a short and strained but civil exchange with one of the other posters. As of this morning, my post was hidden and I was deleted--not banned, outright deleted--from the site.

You wouldn't be allowed to get so far as to post a comment, much less put up a diary unless it completely echoed the group think.

The Devo song for all us "Geeks" (none / 0)

We're through being cool
We're through being cool
Eliminate the time you waste in cliques

Gotta do it alone
To live to be a clone
Got to show to show the "in" crowd that is out.
And if you live in a small town
You might meet a dozen or two
Young alien types who step out
And dare to declare

We're through being cool
We're through being cool
Snap the trap of going with the flow

Put the tape on erase
Re-arrange your place
In this world that tries to put you down

Forget it!  We're through being cool
We're through being cool
Eliminate the ninnies and the twits.

Gonna bang some heads
Gonna beat some butts
Time to show those evil spuds what's what.

We're through being cool
We're through being cool
Spank the pank who tries to drive you nuts

Time to clean some house
Be a man or a mouse
Waste those who make it tough to get around

If you live in a big place
Many factions underground
Chase down Mr. Hinky Dink
So no trace can be found
We're through being cool
We're through being cool

Smash 'em.

Re: My DD's Deevolution (a Comedy) (1.00 / 2)

This is becoming a very silly site. At one time it was quite a few notches away from the almost parodic Kos but there are distinct warning signs of drift Koswards.

What does that mean? We support the Democratic candidate too much for your liking?

Imagine that, Democrats talking about electing a Democrat.
