Obama- the candidate of change- Chicago style

So for all of you wondering why some democrats don't support Obama this was just the beginning. You may be able to rationalize his actions to yourselves but I always supported democrats because they were the the party that stood for fairness and justice.

Of course I am not so naive as to believe that all democrats share my values but when they don't, I skip that name on the ballot. Obama has made clear from the beginning what kind of politician he is. Why did he join the wright church? Because it was good for his career in Chicago politics. Why did he disown the man who was his inspiration and mentor for 20 years? Because it was not good for his career as he runs for president. The laugh is that the media allowed Obama to characterize Hillary as the one who was willing to do anything to win.

There are lines I don't cross. One of those lines is I don't  support people that have dubious moral values even if they are democrats. And I do not support people that have no known accomplishments when they vie for the highest office of the land even if they are the democrat.

It's okay.  Things will be fine.  Obama will win and prove that all those smears that you believe aren't true.  We can do it together!

Why don't you post a tip jar, that way I can properly show you what I think about you spreading Republican smears.  We have already covered this ground ages ago.

Re: Obama- the candidate of change- Chicago style (2.00 / 7)

Can the BS.

We all know that Chicago has a history of dead people voting. That's why they have those ballot access rules which involve carefully checking the signatures.

There's nothing morally dubious about making sure your opponent is following the same rules you are following -- rules that were devised so that people don't get on the ballot from people who don't actually exist.

Susie is not SusieG, nor is she Suzie or SuzieG.

Sheesh.

Who/what is DemsLandslide, other than a name-caller?

Perhaps that's why Susie hates pictures on MyDD.
Perhaps those who post them don't know how to articulate ideas.

Am I correct in assuming you agree with me that those who use photos and illustrations are inarticulate?
And that you agree that labelling/name-calling is beneath the level of MyDD discussion?

yep, I have seen these dipso's run people off because of "similar" names before, hell there was one guy who had 'denny' in his nickname here so suddenly he became every 'denny' on the net who ever said anything they did not like. Claims of 'outting' him (normally leads to banning on honest sites, but MyDD not so much) and they dunned the poor guy until he left in disgust.

Who and what is a PUMA?
Susie is not a PUMA.
Susie wouldn't know a PUMA if she met one at her front door.
Is Susie a Communist?
Is Susie a Vegetarian?
Is Susie a Rastafarian?

Re: Obama- the candidate of change- Chicago style (2.00 / 3)

No doubt about it, BornagainDem is absolutely in the lead for my most likely to post this diary the day after Obama wins the GE:

"Hillary would have won EVEN BIGGER!!!"

If he can type seeing through the tears or the hangover from too many shots of tequila....

You know what is weird, THESE are the people who claimed we needed the Clintons, cause only THEY know how to really fight...

My take is, since we all know what the Republics are going to try, caging, voter-suppression, the usual dirty tricks...

WHO BETTER then guys like Axelrod and Obama who grew up watching Chicago ward style politics.

To beat your enemy, you need to KNOW your enemy.

Win, baby, Win!

Re: Obama- the candidate of change- Chicago style (1.75 / 4)

Talk about dredging up an 4 month old CNN story that has been thoroughly discussed, to make no point.

So Barack is a politician who likes to win. Funny I've never met or know of one who doesn't. He played by the rules of Chicago politics and used those rules to his advantage. Big woop!

BTW, if you had dug a bit deeper into this story you might have discovered that both Ewell, Askia and Alice Palmer had hired a couple of people to gather signatures using old voter list and in the case of both Askia and Palmer signature gathers out of laziness or lack of time decided it would be easier just to sign a bunch of signatures themselves.

Ewell could not be reached for comment, but the federal judge's decision showed how he was tripped up by complexities in the election procedures.

City authorities had just completed a massive, routine purge of unqualified names that eliminated 15,871 people from the 13th District rolls, court records show.

Ewell and other Obama rivals had relied on early 1995 polling sheets to verify the signatures of registered voters--but Obama's challenges were decided at least in part using the most recent, accurate list, records show.

Askia filed 1,899 signatures, but the Obama team sustained objections to 1,211, leaving him 69 short, records show.

Leafing through scrapbooks in his South Shore apartment, Askia, a perennially unsuccessful candidate, acknowledges that he paid Democratic Party precinct workers $5 a sheet for some of the petitions, and now suspects they used a classic Chicago ruse of passing the papers among themselves to forge the signatures.

Now if you can show me how he broke the rules or did something illegal you might have a case. However since you can't move along.

Frankly (2.00 / 2)

I see it as anti-old style.

If I knew it was common practice to buy petition signatures, I'd challenge them too. Why give your opponents an unnecessary and unethical advantage?

I live in PA, and let me tell you there was a distinct....dearth...of Obama campaign materials available at the voting place in my area. Luckily, a big dude with wraparound shades (I shit you not) was on hand to offer the other candidate's stuff.

So, lol. You'll forgive me if my political cherry has already been popped.

Re: Obama- the candidate of change- Chicago style (none / 0)

Recently saw an article in the New York Observer (don't laugh) where the subject was the nutty Democratic bundler Kiki(?) Lieberman who runs these anti-Obama podcasts that all end with "GO GO GO!!!"

Anyway, the comment section of the article was filled with identically phrased and emphasized comments that were either from the same person or from two or three.  There was one hilarious comment about the "unsavory characters in Obama's past".

On the list were "Che Guevara" and, wait for it... Alice Palmer.
