Rasmussen: Obama +2 in NV

Nice.  Obama's now up by 2 in Nevada.  Granted, this is statistically insignificant, but last month McCain was up by 3, and two months ago he was up by 6.  Clearly the momentum is in Obama's favor.  The improvement seems to have come among self-identified Democrats.

Re: Rasmussen: Obama +2 in NV (none / 0)

It's the first time Obama has lead in Nevada, I believe.
Good news, not just because of the five electoral votes, but because of NV-03, as well - one of our top House pickup opportunities.

Re: Rasmussen: Obama +2 in NV (2.00 / 1)

I'll get excited when I read he is down 10 or less in WV, KY, or AL. That would setup a landslide of historic proportions in the rest of the states.

There are four states, besides Missouri and Colorado, that I think will really shock Republicans and pundits into rehab. Nevada is one of them.

I think Jeter plans to release them on a weekly basis.

Re: Rasmussen: Obama +2 in NV (2.00 / 1)

I don't see why. Clinton carried it twice. Gore was within 4%, Kerry 3%. The influx of people from California, an increasing Hispanic population and the growth of Clark County have all lead to a state becoming less R and more D.

Re: Rasmussen: Obama +2 in NV (2.00 / 1)

This makes sense. If Obama is leading nationally by several points then he figures to lead in Nevada. The state is close to even partisanship with the nation. I believe the partisan index in 2004 was very slightly blue. Still, I wouldn't be confident in that holding up in 2008. We need to win the national popular vote by 2-3 points to be sure of dragging Nevada along.

We'll see this more and more. I know most political followers are hung up on state polls. It's a natural tendency since state polls are more vital in primary season. But in a presidential general election the state polls always lag national polling. National polling is the most vital focus, and the states slowly fall in line, normally in close proximity to their recent partisan index level.

I live in Henderson. The problem, as always, in Nevada is under performance in Clark County. It's not quite as bad in presidential years but the rural cow counties turn out in greater reliability to Clark.

I read this as "NJ" and panicked for a second.
