Wow talk about ratings abuse

Okay so I have had comments Hide Rated a lot recently. I have only given a Hide Rating to one post. I give troll ratings sparingly and try to only give them to post that attack and demean without provocation. Here is my most recent ratings that I have given:

12) [Hidden Comment]

So here is a comment that was hide rated of mine:

"I'll say it again:
Neither candidate in November is going to do anything to help you or the countless families like yours in the next 4 years. I hope your baby is okay and I hope you will remember this feeling and all the parents who will suffer it over the next 4 years no matter who wins in November. The Democratic Party has decided that health care is not a priority for them at this time. Hopefully for you this will just be a scare for countless families this will be real and once again we will have failed them."

And here is the thread: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/7/13/16823/4102#122

Am I wrong but I do not consider that offensive since the author chose to post a diary about his daughter and then tie it to the election in November.

I don't think I have ever said I was supporting McCain and if I did I must have been drunk. I have thought about writing in Hillary because McCain will win my state by 15 % and I know my vote won't change the outcome. But I do believe that by not holding our candidates feet to the fire about the issues that are a part of the core of our party we are making ourselves no better than the BUSHBOT's.  I WILL NOT BE A BOT FOR ANYBODY, I DO NOT CARE WHO THEY ARE! IF A DEMOCRAT FAILS TO LIVE UP TO THE PRINCIPLES OF THE PARTY THEN HE OR SHE DESERVES TO BE CALLED OUT FOR IT. NO ACCOUNTABILITY IS WHAT GAVE US THE LAST 8 YEARS, I WILL NOT STAND BY FOR 4 or 8 MORE YEARS LIKE IT AND I DO NOT CARE IF THE PRESIDENT HAS AN R OR A D BY THEIR NAME. So Troll Rate me or Hide Rate me all you want. I will not go away and I will not be silenced. I will take on anyone Republican or Democrat in order to demand the type of government we deserve! If you don't like it to bad!

Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (none / 0)

I saw that and wondered as well. I disagree with you a lot, and may have even troll rated a comment I felt over the line, I think it's a tough line to judge though, I don't disagree with dissent if shown to be helpful, dissent just to fire up a rah rah rah brand of our candidate sucks do occassionally illicit a bad response. But look at it this way, the rating won't end your time here, keep on keeping on, not the end of the world (as i have gone off on people who HR me too). Well good luck to you anyways

Really,

Let's ask the author! So RageKage as a young self professed former Republican, how old are you? When did you become a "Democrat" and did you ever vote for "W" Bush. I know that I can go back through your post and garner this info but it would be so much nicer to let you summarize it for JJE.

The diarist seems to have a personal beef with ragekage (note  R.K. he never h'rated RedState) and reveals him/herself in this comment.

The spam is also over the top. Took the diary offcourse and tried to hijack it cointinously.

To get 12 h'rates you must really be doing something wrong.

Not that the diarist cares. Just here to stir shit up.

Why take that out of context? Why not post the whole exchange that lead to that comment. The part you hide rated where I said that the only people I knew who supported Obama's Healthcare plan were some of the people Rove reffered to as useful idiots who supported Bush and know they are all about Obama? Why not post the whole exchange in context? Could you be spinning?

Rove is where you get your information?
I never type this but, "LOL!"

Consider a less insidious source.  BTW, your view that Dems have abandoned Health Care as an issue is pretty inaccurate and based off of ignorance on your part.  Here, go to mybarackobama.com and read his health care plan.  See if you still think he doesn't take it seriously.

Rove refered to uninformed voters who voted on personality or single issues as useful idiots. He credited them with W getting elected twice. So yes when it comes to bushbot tactics Rove is the expert, no matter how much I dispise him.

That doesn't make any sense, honestly.  Again, if you want to discuss the fact that Obama's plan is not progressive enough, let's do that.  I agree with you there.  If you want to talk about FISA and gay marriage and executions and gun control, let's talk about it.  But let's not start from your own made up idea that Obama is suddenly going to abandon health care once he is elected.

Re: Check out this nugget Dog. (2.00 / 4)

Actually, no...your initial comment was:

To bad neither of your choices in November will be doing anything to help you or others like you. Healthcare is not on the agenda because you and others like you decided it was not important. Hope your baby is okay though. And if she is try to think of all those parents in your position who will receive word over the next 4 years that what you are dreading is really happening to them. Then ask yourself why healthcare was important to you before this.

--Emphasis Mine

A callous comment based on the diary content....and 13 MYDD Trusted Users deemed it as such.

After that, you Spammed the thread with the modified version of the comment....but, it was still SPAM. Spamming is against site rules....therefore...you were HR'd again. THEN you decided to throw little hissy fits about your HR's and get into spats with users who have far more respect here than you.....this won you more HR's and TR's.

Had you responded to your comment being hidden by saying something like: "Sorry for my last comment, it was not eloquent and offense was not intended" and added your last sentence from above: "As a proud Democrat I stand by that remark. As Democrats WE have not done enough. And I will accept my share of the blame with shame and a promise to try and do better!"....the outcome would have been MUCH different from what has transpired this evening.

Re: Check out this nugget Dog. (1.00 / 3)

I still stand behind that comment. We the Democratic party have decided this is not a top issue this year, First of all I did not know it was HRD second It is a true comment and I will never back away from it. I guess you are mistaken this is the democratic party not the republican party. We do not all march in lockstep here. If that is the new policy please have Jerome send me an email and I will change my affiliation asap.

It is obnoxious to hide rate a post that says nothing offensive. It is a violation of the TOS to hide rate a post just because you do not agree with what it says. Therefore I guess I will just paste it over and over... It would draw less attention to it to just let it post 1 time than keep discussing it and having people wonder why it is being censored. Perhaps it would be more productive to refute the content of the post.

I'll say it again:
Neither candidate in November is going to do anything to help you or the countless families like yours in the next 4 years. I hope your baby is okay and I hope you will remember this feeling and all the parents who will suffer it over the next 4 years no matter who wins in November. Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (2.00 / 6)

Even if it's something you truly believe, IMO, it is bad taste to to add to the agony and a sense of hopelessness to a father who is truly fearful of having an ill child with no health insurance.

IMO, anyone with compassion would seen that diary as a genuine concern and comforting responses and hope being the right replies.

I left a supportive message (1.00 / 6)

in the comments of that diary for the kid. But I had the same reaction as the OP. And I think using his daughter for a diary to guilt people into voting for Obama is bad taste. I didn't mention it 'cause I didn't want to get into it with Rage in that diary but it was waaaaaaaaay tacky.

I have plenty of compassion but that diary was nothing more than a big f-ing guilt trip as are the rest of the "X is voting for Obama, why can't you?" diaries.

I bet if I used a member of my family who is battling a deadly disease to guilt trip all the Obama fans because they voted for the candidate with the lesser HC plan they would be all supportive.

Re: I left a supportive message (2.00 / 5)

There was no evidence to back us the poster's claim.  Obama has said he wants to continue and expand SCHIP so children do not fall through the cracks as RK's did.

You must not really think that highly of RK if you think he "used" his daughter as a bargaining chip to campaign for Obama...

Sounds eerily familar when the MSM accused the Clinton campaign was "pimpin" out Chelsea for their own agenda...

I disagreed with that sentiment then and a I strongly disagree with your assertion that RK's motive was strictly political now.

Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (2.00 / 1)

Yet had the author not made it political in the diary then I WOULD NOT HAVE RESPONDED AS SUCH! However the author was not looking for advice or sympathy he posted it as a political diary as shown from this quote:

"I must confess, I was among those who took a very distant look at a lot of those issues. From when I first become politically conscious, through being a Republican, and until somewhat recently, I was more concerned about the here and now of my own life- and none of those issues impacted me directly."

Had he left it about his daughter I would have responded with "I hope everything is OK with her".  But since he made it a political diary I thought he wanted to discuss parents and children and health insurance as a political issue.

Intentionally Antagonistic (1.90 / 11)

As I said in the original diary.  You were being intentionally antagonistic toward a single father with a sick baby and no health insurance.  I did not hide rate you but you certainly have no respect for that diarist.  I also imagine that you do not have any children.  If you did, you would be unable to be so callous toward a sick child and a father looking for help.

To make matters worse, the Mydd community loves us some Ragekage.  We stick up for our own and you are an unknown here.

Lastly, you began to spam the diary by continually reposting the same comment over and over.  That is HR worthy.

Re: Intentionally Antagonistic (2.00 / 1)

He was not looking for help he was making a political point and using his lack of health care to do so:

"I must confess, I was among those who took a very distant look at a lot of those issues. From when I first become politically conscious, through being a Republican, and until somewhat recently, I was more concerned about the here and now of my own life- and none of those issues impacted me directly."

That is a quote from his diary. Sounds like the same thing I hear from a lot of people who are OK with the Obama health plan. Don't attack me just because I point out the elephant in the room. If your Child is sick and you want to bounce off the wall that is fine and I would have made a supportive comment. If your Child is sick and you want to make it about politics that is very different. Don't think you can guilt me into going rah,rah Obama even though his plan stinks but at least he has a D by his name. Guess what his plan stinks almost as bad as McCain, Are you asking me to celebrate getting to choose between the "Stinking" candidate and "stinky" candidate? Not gonna do do it.

Too bad ya'll keep losing.
No trip to Bermuda for you.
Better luck next time.

Something I believe?
I believe you are a Troll whose only reason for commenting today is to prove as such to the rest of MYDD.
You may have failed at 'PWiKMaIiHH' but, you are succeeding marvelously at 'Watch RedState Prove He's a Troll'....keep up the good work! You have already won several Trips to HIDDEN COMMENTS!

Just another Jack Troll, folks....nothing to see here that we haven't seen before.
Point, laugh...and move along.

"But he will not address health care legislation till 2012."

Again, how about even one shred of evidence for this?  Hey, if we are throwing an unsubstantiated claim party, lemme jump in:

HILLARY IS TRYING TO MAKE OBAMA LOSE!
Bill hates Obama!
Chelsea is thinking of becoming a Republican!
Ed Rendell prefers the Giants! (little PA joke for all you football fans out there)

Please. Come back when you have some quotes to back up your crazy tin-foil hat ideas.

His plan on his own website said that he would propose legislation in 2012. Now  know I have been busy but has he announced some "bold new plan in the last 6 weeks I am not aware of?

Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (2.00 / 3)

There is nothing substantive I can contribute to this raging inferno of suck you have created.  I would wish you well except that I don't.  You are either here under false pretenses, or you are a prima donna, or you are simply confused as to the nature of the world around you.

I don't know which of these is true, and frankly I do not care.  I have yet to see you contribute anything substantive in any post or diary ever.  All you do is complain and play "gotcha!" games, as if that mattered somehow.

You are ill-mannered, even by the admittedly low standards of the internet.  You convince no one and annoy everyone.  What purpose do you serve?  Why are you here?  You act as though either:

a) we don't care about progressive values
b) Obama doesn't care about progressive values and we've somehow missed that "fact."

Did it ever occur to you that we want to win?  We're going to get screwed a few times.  It'll suck.  I've hated it when it has already happened (FISA) and no doubt it will happen again.  However, I'll take a handful of defeats if it nets me mostly victories.  Especially in light of the last eight years.

You come from a Red State and you are a liberal?  Surely you understand that we cannot win such states by moving far to the Left, correct?  I'm not advocating DLC mindlessness (and neither is Barack).  I'm advocating that we sacrifice from time to time in order to make the message more palatable.  It has to happen.

Cherry pick and spin however you like.  You'll always be able to find things to reinforce your pre-existing notions of who Obama is.  As he appeals to the center he'll use language that will drive you to your wit's end.

The problem is you won't see this for what it is - rhetorical posturing, for the most part.

Red..if you're really committed to improve Obama's (2.00 / 5)

healthcare proposal why don't you write a detailed diary on the proposal and suggest pointers where and how you think the proposal should be improved. If you really want a serious discussion on your thoughts to improve Obama's healthcare proposal that might be the way to go about doing it. I'm seriously looking forward to reading a diary in that vein from you in the near future.

I love how they hiderate everything they don't agree with. They're like little kids sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling '

Don't let them get you down.

Or, do you actively seek one another out to play slap and tickle?

Oh, look a visual aid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (none / 0)

Thanks for showing up here to illustrate my point.

In RK's diary with the pic of the kid you mojoed me for this comment

I hope your daughter will be fine.

http://www.mydd.com/comments/2008/7/13/1 6823/4102/128#128

Even though I thought it was tacky to use the picture of the kid I held my tongue and expressed sympathy and well wishes for the kid even though I have little to no respect for the father. I censored myself because I didn't want to derail the thread and because it wasn't the place to give my opinion.

I came here and gave my opinion because it was more appropriate in THIS thread

http://www.mydd.com/comments/2008/7/13/2 04257/873/35?mode=alone;showrate=1#35

And you showed up to troll rate me. It is pretty obvious that nothing but blind adulation for your dear leader and nothing short of submission is good enough for you people. Either that or you Kysen are schizophrenic mojo'ing me one minute and labeling me a troll the next because I chose an appropriate venue to voice my opinion of using a picture of a child in a diary like that.

pathetic.

Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (2.00 / 4)

Alrighty, I'm done playing this Jack Troll's reindeer games for the night...he has become too predictable and, thusly, too boring.

You'd think that Trolls would try to at least come up with new material.

Typical Troll....actually, the typical MYDD Troll is of a higher caliber.
This one's good for a laugh or two....but, other than that he is of no value.

I will continue to rate him as deserved...but he is not worth any further comments.
Truthfully, he was not worth the comments I have wasted on him already.

Le Yawn.

Re: Wow talk about ratings abuse (none / 0)

I guess the difference between me and most of you is I will gladly pay taxes to see that ragekages daughter gets every bit of healthcare that she needs. I would willingly let them take my money to see that she receives all the care she needs. Most of you would mouth platitudes as long as it did not cost you a dime. Rage if your daughter needs medical treatment I am the one who says give it to her, no matter what!

This part was right: (2.00 / 1)

The Democratic Party has decided that health care is not a priority for them at this time.

We know it is right because it's essentially what Senator Chuck Schumer announced two months ago.

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/dems -hedge-on-healthcare-2008-04-23.html

However, I don't see what any of that has to do with Hillary or Obama.  The problem is with the Democratic Party itself.  The same people in the Senate Democratic leaderhsip hedging on health care are the same ones that have been serving us so poorly the last few years on a number of issues.

His diary was very personal non-controversial and your comment injected controversy.  The rest of us just wanted to support him and bash the Republicans.  You had to bring up the primaries.
