Why Steve Sarvi is right for MN-02

Now that I have been inspired by some epic snark, I am ready to get on with my penance of candidate diaries.  I turn away from the lesser 49 states and instead focus on the greatest state ever, MN. (note I am joking with this).

Steve is a qualified candidate for this position.  He has served as a Mayor of his town and the county administrator.  That is more governmental experience than John Kline had when he ran for and won this seat against Bill Luther.  Like Kline he is a veteran only Sarvi understands the current war as he served in it.  You can check out the rest of his bio here:

http://www.stevesarvi.org/about

Now about the issues, Steve is fairly decent considering the district (very republican).  He is really good on immigration (imo):
http://www.stevesarvi.org/issues/immigra tion

However on Iraq he isn't great, but he does have his opponenet's record availible for easy access:

http://www.stevesarvi.org/theklinerecord

He comes off looking like the perfect candidate as John Kline is a horrible representative.

Recently Steve spoke at the MN DFL convention and gave a brief but very good speech, he ripped into Kline, I snipped it from http://mnblue.com

"My first day in Iraq, I got out of my Humvee, slammed the door and it fell off," Steve said after introducing himself. "Donald Rumsfeld said that you don't go to war with the army that you want to have, you go to war with the army you've got. Well, when you abandon your soldiers, you gotta go on the record. My opponent John Kline has gone on the record for abandoning the troops and the veterans. Vets are not getting the healthcare or benefits they deserve.

"George W. Bush, Norm Coleman and John Kline created this surge. We're going to create our own surge. It will be a clean sweep. We're going to sweep Washington clean of those special interests. Instead of saying 'Yes We Can!', we'll be saying 'Show Me How!'.

"We are going to make John Kline history this year."

"John Kline hides from his constituents. It took a petition to get him to meet with voters. This is no surprise because he is one of the most conservative, most radical of the Representative not just in MN, but in Congress, too."

"He has a 39% approval rating. This isn't surprising as he leaves vets behind while allowing war profiteers to make billions of dollars of profits. He voted against insuring poor kids [SCHIP] while at the same time getting large campaign contributions from the drug companies."

"I'll put my years of service as mayor of Watertown and as city administrator of Lanesboro, Victoria and Watertown as well as my military service in Iraq and Kosovo up against his five years of supporting George Bush's policies."

"I won't be able to be here tomorrow or Sunday as I'll be St. Paul training my soldiers. But let's make today the beginning of the end of the war. Some of us went to war over and over and over and over. Instead, today let's start building for the future. Let's start building a better future."

So go check out a potential pick up. the media market would be the Twin Cities.  If Steve can get the money to define himself, he has a good chance of winning, if you were considering donating to Bob Barr, here is a candidate who could bring change to Washington D.C.

Steve is the best candidate from this district in a long time, Kline is one of the reps who uses the TeleTown Hall way of meeting with his constituents (see the article for more on them):

We can send John Kline back to Texas with George W. Bush (Kline is originally from Texas).  Consider helping Steve out today:

Re: Give Steve a hand (2.00 / 2)

Ahh, I wasn't exactly sure where 02 was.

But you're  right if we're talking Edina/Richfield...this guy, despite some rather "meh" positions is probably our best chance of winning.  That's some hardcore GOP terrority there.

Actually those (2.00 / 1)

areas are turning blue and are in MN-03.

This is Burnsville, Inner Grove Heights, Apple Valley (home to the MN Zoo) and is still really red (Kennedy carried it over Klobuchar last cycle and he got routed.

Re: Actually those (2.00 / 1)

Yeah if we can win in the 1st and carry the burbs in presidential elections like we did last cycle I see no reason the 3rd and 2nd can't be won.

Honestly the 3rd should be a lock if we can make sure not to let them hide behind Ramsted solid moderate record and expose the candidate for the righty he was in the state Congress.
