Worst site in the world

Current diary in question is this - Kudos to Clinton supporters who stayed, with grace.
The premise of the dairy is itself broken - the underlying comment here being that except for a couple of HRC supporters, the other supporters on dailyKos, who either remained behind or left did so - did so disgracefully.
What a bloody patronising diary. Couldn't have been more patronizing if it had been written by Laura Ingraham, instead of MsLaura.

Hildabeast, bitch, witch, racist, Vince Foster, the good Clinton years were because of luck - how could anyone distinguish between dKos & a right wing site.
In my opinion, any Hillary supporter who stayed on DailyKos with grace was probably retarded.

I have been a member on Daily Kos from early 2004 onwards. Was more or less the only political site I used to visit for almost 4 years. Used to occasionally (once a month) browse MyDD (back when it was My Due Diligence). Once in a couple of months good to freerepublic to see what the other side is upto.
But till early 2008, never visited anything except dKos with any regularity.
I was an Edwards supporter in the beginning of this primary. Moved to Hillary when it seemed sure that Edwards wasn't going anywhere. Never loved HRC at that time, nor did I hate Obama.
But in a few months, I now absolutely hate Obama - mostly because of daily kos & various other progressive sites.

There is another front page on DailyKos today which analyzes why HRC lost - one of the reasons given was that she couldn't successfully distance herself from the Clinton years. Hunter - what a bloody hack. I doubt if any right wing site has also made a point like this.

I was banned from dailyKos a few days ago - this is the reason, I think -
Rezko/Auchi was being discussed. Someone said - hasn't it been proven that Obama never met Auchi. I posted links of 3 newpaper articles which reported the following (these weren't right wing newspapers).

  • Obama attended a party where Auchi was the guest of honor.
  • Obama made a toast to Auchi.
I got banned. Isn't this the George W Bush strategy - close your eyes & unpleasant facts will dissapear.

Anyway, the good thing about all this is that, I am no longer a frog in the well. I have got more exposure to other left wing sites.

- myDD is a decent site - Jerome is a great organizer/strategist, I think.

- though I have read a bit of Armando at dKos, it wasn't much, mainly because I didn't spend too much time on political websites in 2005 when he was a front-pager. Now that I actively read TalkLeft, I think Armando is easily the most knowledgeable blogger on the left. A little pompous, but an absolutely fantastic read all the same.

- I no longer believe attacks by leftwing bloggers on right wing politicians, journalists etc. After experiencing leftwing attack on Hillary & her supporters, I will always take such attacks on McCain & his supporters with a pinch of salt.

Re: Worst site in the world (2.00 / 1)

Exactly how I feel about NoQuarter and Hillis44.

But, what is the point of making a diary about another website?

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

NoQuarter & HillIs44 aren't mainstream left wing sites. The fact that you had to bring them to defend the great Daily Kos itself speaks volumes.

HillIs44 is a site with a specific agenda - as is apparent from it's name - it doesn't pretend to be a site create to further the democratic agenda in general - it's site with one purpose - to elect Hillary - that would further the democratic agenda, of course - but that isn't the agenda.

NoQuarter is run by loonies, no more comments.

But I am happy, you brought out NoQuarter & HillIs44 as a defense against DailyKos. That actually furthers my point.

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

I'm not "reaching" to try to equate websites - just pointing out that diaries are regularly written about the evils of some particular diary on Daily Kos.  Surely you know that the ~150k users of that website do not unanimously endorse any particular diary.  Only Bill O'Reilly has advanced that line of argument.

I see diaries like this as nothing more than a form of tribalism - look what the people are doing on another website and how much better we are.  Either stand your ground and fight people you disagree with on that website or pay them no heed.  Trust me, there are a treasure trove of diaries written here over the last several months that no one should be proud of.

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

Forget diaries. Just look at only front-pagers. That should be more than enough. The 2 examples I gave - Hunter is on the front-page, MsLaura is an ex front-pager.
Another Front-Pager, DHinMI once called Hillary a MILF - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/MILF
Kos himself front-paged the "darkening of Obama's face in the Hillary ad" fake scandal. This fake s scandal was then debunked by media matters & others, but kos never front-paged an apology.

you're right. (none / 0)

losing a percentage of the 18 million HRC supporters has and will DO NOTHING to kos traffic....  or to MSNBC, etc.

or...  you can call a media buyer and ask them their thoughts in the next month or so when, now that the primary is over and viewership/user trends are firmer to analyze what the REAL situation is.

Re: Worst site in the world (2.00 / 1)

I'll tell you one thing and my disdain for Dkos even being a guy who voted for Obama is well documented. In fact I for the very 1st time got "gang banged on mydd with troll ratings  when I called Markos a PUTZ.

Feel free to troll rate me to glory again on this. I could give a rat's ass about it :)( don't fear I don't troll rate back).

Now to my point:  Markos and last I checked as not one write up praising Hillary's speech. Now why does that matter... because he is a "premium instigator" on the net... rightfully (in other eyes) or wrongfully (in my eyes).  Point is it speaks to volumes of the sincerity of the so called pied pipers of the dem net root bloggers...

So till you my fellow Obama voters demand changes from our side and "sincere ones" , you should  know the reason why we still do not have her supporters  singing kumbaya...

Re: Only reason I could see for the ban (none / 0)

Because the comment I mention was Hide Rated by a lot of people & I assume that caused the ban. Because it was hidden, you can't see it in my history now.

And I didn't question whether Obama was black. I questioned whether he was African-American. I don't believe he is. He has less than 20% African heritage.

Then the Auchi comment I mention must have been deleted. I have no idea how to distinguish between a deleted & a Hide/Troll Rated comment.
I posted the Auchi reply, once. It dissapeared. I posted it again. It dissapeared again, after sometime. Next day, I could no longer post on dKos.

Auchi says he never met Obama. Obama says he never met Auchi. So what's your beef

I posted 3 links in reply to this. I posted it twice after it dissapeared the first time.
In my opinion, this is what got me banned.

But, the point of my current diary isn't to complain about my ban on dKos. For a few weeks, I was doing everything I could to get myself banned. That's not the point my current diary.

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

I went and peeked at DK yesterday for the first time in 3 months.  I noticed that they were devoting all day today to "why Hillary lost".  I immediately left without reading anything else.

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

Hunter thinks she lost because she couldn't distance herself successfully from Bill Clinton's years in the White House - that's why she lost.

Gore cleverly distanced himself from Bill & won the elections.

Re: Worst site in the world (none / 0)

Uh.. how can you distance yourself from your husband's administration?  I guess she could have divorced Bill and gone on an angry First Wives Club rant?

I think the reason she lost is because the media gets off on hating her and the DNC wanted to get it's hands on Obama's donor list and his fund raising ability so they decided to back him, both directly and indirectly.

Re:What a fool. (none / 0)

"Hunter," I mean.  She should distance herself from our only[hugely popular] democratic two term president in 4 decades?  His approval ratings were in the 60's while David Broder and Company were tut-tutting his misdeeds and asking "Where's the outrage?"

Americans LIKED the Clinton presidency.

I don't run away from conflicting thought.  I just don't like the level of hostility that you often find there.  I stopped going there when I heard that some posters at DK were threatening to cyberstalk people in their RL and report them to their employers, etc.  Who needs that kind of shit in their lives?

Re: Ignorance is bliss. (none / 0)

I don't need anyone fucking with my real life just because they think it's cute.  I have a family and kids to support and if some punk faced college brat thinks it's funny to threaten that because he doesn't agree with something I have said online.. well, yeah I am not the wrong one in that situation.

Internet or not - social norms should still apply.  You don't threaten someone like that.  I have had a cyberstalker and that shit isn't funny.

Armando has been totally wrong, all along, this season.

His arguments have been specious, and disingenuous.

I find it hard to believe he's the most knowledgeable blogger on the left.  What about Eric Alterman?  what about Scott over at Lawyers, Guns, and Money?

There are plenty of great reads, who are less pompous.

Re: Best site in the world (none / 0)

I learned about Dailykos from the "Colbert bump", but I had previously met Markos at a live showing of Air America in San Francisco.

Regardless of Markos' personal choice of candidate, my impression of him was all positive. He seemed like a genuinely good guy who was fighting for the betterment of this country.

Dailykos has always been a progressive website, NOT a candidate based one. It did not become one until Clinton supporters decided to make it that way. Someone (I forget who) organized a "boycott" and then flooded MYDD, effectively turning both sites into candidate-based blogs.

I am an Obama supporter. I try to be objective but it seems to me MYDD still has a problem with troll diaries getting Rec'd and dissenting opinions getting TR'd.

Both Dailykos and MYDD were designed to simply be progressive blogs. If Obama supporters began outnumbering Clinton supporters on DK, oh, well. I'm out numbered on MYDD as an Obama supporter but you know what? That's life and I choose to stay.

So you got what you created. Two perfectly good blogs where progressives can go to share information, opinions and ideas became candidate sites.
