Well, I kept my word and did it

I said that if and when Senator Clinton ended her candidacy and endorsed our nominee, Senator Barack Obama, I would donate to her campaign so that she could retire her debt.  Just a few moments ago I did.  I didn't give much, but I don't have particularly much to give.

Let's help her out.  Her campaign owes money to a lot of people who don't need bad debt hanging over them (small vendors and so forth) and if Senator Clinton is to have another shot at this in the future, she cannot afford to be remembered as having shafted so many of those vendors.  I want her to succeed in the party in the future, so let's help her out.

Besides, if a lot of us do it today, it'll be obvious that it came from Obama supporters who want the party united.

That single, solitary issue makes donating extremely difficult for me.

We really have to look past that (2.00 / 4)

I don't think we should linger on such issues.

I think Senator Obama is (none / 0)

I think Senator Obama is gathering his wealthy supporters who are maxed out in donating to him and asking them to help retire her debt.

I would give to help, but only if the wealthy donors aren't enough.

There I just got done making my internet rounds (2.00 / 1)

and I donated $10 to:
Barack Obama
the DNC
Hillary Clinton
Scott Kleeb
John Boccieri
Defenders of Wildlife

I am sunk for the month but it was worth it.

I might squeeze out $10 for Al Franken, we'll see.

All this unity talk makes me want to vomit (2.00 / 3)

</snark>

I actually gave her campaign $$ today as well for I too had said that I would do so once Obama is the nominee. She sure gave one hell of a speech today.

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (2.00 / 4)

I want to thank all Obama supporters who have donated or even thought about donating to Hillary so she could get out of debt and pay the vendors.

Those sentiments, just the thought of it, shows the true culture of us Democrats. We can rise above our fights for our march towards our main goal - our victory in Nov!

Please help Hillary out while she helps us unite.

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (none / 0)

I wasn't just spouting off when I said I would do things like this.  I don't have to particularly love Hillary Clinton to want the party to prosper.  If I must do things like this to prove that we are together in this then I will do them.

We have to win.  The stakes are simply to great, the cost of failure to terrible.

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (none / 0)

I am planning on doing this, but would really like to see Senator Clinton make contact with the Clinton supporters for McCain groups and talk with them about why she thinks their work would hurt the causes she has worked for all these years.

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (2.00 / 1)

I felt your words and remarks and I can proudly stand by you in this fight for the presidency. You do not hate Hillary, but you just CHOSE Obama this time around. You even considered support her future efforts to become president. Remarks like yours will go a long way in convincng Hillary supporters.

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (none / 0)

I appreciate the idea, but it strikes me that that money would have been much better used by Obama, against McCain.

I do hope that all those venues and whatnot who are owed money get it, but a choice between helping Obama win versus paying off another campaign's debt?...not really much of a choice, if you ask me.

No way. No how. No McCain.

I did too, right after her speech and it wasn't one bit painful ;)

Re: Well, I kept my word and did it (none / 0)

If HRC made some kind of pledge to pay herself back last (I'm fairly sure she has already paid Mark Penn or I'd move him back too) and her vendors and employees first, I might be persuaded to donate.

Otherwise I don't feel a need to donate.  She chose to self-finance at a point in the campaign where continuing only hurt our chances to win the WH IMO and when she was financially insolvent.  The Clintons are very wealthy and their losses are their own fault, but its not the vendors (or venues or employees) fault that the campaign has been stiffing them.

I think Obama's max donors are more likely to handle most of this, but I might be persuaded if that pledge was made and more was needed.  But I'm much more likely to donate to Obama, other worthy candidates or the DNC instead of throwing good money after bad.
