Me too.  I have been so caught up in the "race" for the nomination that I forgot how historic a night tonight would actually be.  I expect he will hit it out of the park tonight.

will support Barak Obama in the general. She acknowledges we as Democrats have a lot of work to do to heal the rift.

Thank you, Natasha (none / 0)

I just wanted to thank you for your persistent and ongoing advocacy and spotlighting of sexual and gender discrimination issues.  Some very big kudos to you, that is important work.

Darcy Burner (none / 0)

Just wanted to put in another plug for Darcy. I actually was good friends with her in college and can say with absolute confidence she will be an amazing advocate for progressives in Congress.

Please, if the primary war hasn't bled you dry, open those wallets and send some love her way!

If you eat meat..... (none / 0)

Please read the NY Times editorial about factory farming linked above (efficiency of industrial animal production).

There are alternatives.  Don't eat meat.  Eat less (but higher quality) meat.

Go find a local sustainable and/or organic family farmer and buy meat from them.

You may have to pay more, but the additional cost is an investment in the health of yourself, the environment, and rural economies.

If you eat meat..... (none / 0)

If you are in or near SF California there are a few CSA's(community supported agriculture) that have meat.

Re: Blog, and Blog Again (none / 0)

Let Reichert claim that WA voters are "looking for experience" (ie. a candidate with many years behind him in the US Congress).  I am pretty sure that Obama winning EVERY SINGLE COUNTY in Washington and carrying Western Washington (where Reichert is running) by a margin of close to 50% shows how absolutely wrong Reichert is on this one since Obama is relatively new to national politics.

And this analysis fails to consider the fact that the formerly red areas of Western Washington are trending strongly Democratic.

Reichert's a dumbass and will lose in the fall.

Survey USA: MA, MO and NY (none / 0)

SurveyUSA released three new polls today, and all have Obama ahead.

MA: +5 alone against McCain, up to +16 with Edwards as VP.

MO: +2 alone against McCain, up to +11 with Edwards as VP.

NY: +10 alone against McCain, up to +20 with Edwards as VP.

Positive movement for Obama in MO (he was down by three) and even in NY and MA from the last SurveyUSA polls (+9 and +5, respectively).

Women on women (none / 0)

OK, interesting comment about women on women discrimination.
My boss, who voted for Clinton back in February mentioned that Hillary's biggest issue was that she needed to lose 20 pounds.   Needless to say, my jaw nearly hit the floor.  She went on to say that she felt Clinton would just look better if she lost the 20 pounds and also had her jowels tightened up.

She still supports Clinton (but also likes Obama), but feels she should do more about her appearance.  I asked her if she felt her comment was sexist, and she stated no, because she would want a man to lose weight and get plastic surgery also.

I only bring this up as a counterpoint to some claims.  I would never vote for or against a person because of what clothes they wore or whether they needed to lose 20 pounds.  But, some of these comments on appearance are coming from Clinton supporters

Re: Women on women (none / 0)

You're right. Sexism is pervasive, women definitely perpetuate it against each other. Because criticim of other women's appearances was a near daily, integral part of the discussions of the women in my family, I have to fight against that tendency in my own mind. It's v frustrating.

Re: Blog, and Blog Again (none / 0)

That TV commercial is actually pretty good.

I know nothing about the candidates.  I assume that the Repub is, in fact, a sexist jerk, and Darcy Burner, is, in fact, a great progressive politician.  And I would definitely vote for her, based on her politics.  And, if I lived in the state, would obviously take the time to find out her positions, and find out just how many lobbyists the Republican guy plays golf with every weekend.

But!  That commercial makes the Repub's point and does so in a humorous manner.

Darcy should hire the ad agency that did that spot.

Read the comments section of the Obama blogger.

Typical trash talk on Hillary.

I did read some of them (none / 0)

But I also had a long, sincere exchange with the author before he wrote that post and I think he wrote in an attitude of good faith that I wanted to recognize.
