People that like HRC but not BHO - Vandalize Orlando

The AP reported that 60 cars were vandalized in Orlando last night.  The cars were spray painted with Racist comments about Obama.  "Pro-Hillary" cards were left at the scene.

Here is the AP

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Vandals have spray-painted 60 city vehicles in Orlando, Fla., some with messages against Sen. Barack Obama.

The cars were parked across from city hall late Saturday night. Investigators say the culprits tagged notes such as "Obama smokes crack" and a racial epithet. They even left business cards on each vehicle.

Mike Lowe, a videographer working for The Associated Press, first told police about the damage. He saw three cars with anti-Obama messages, while the others were just heavily painted.

The business cards disparage both Obama and Sen. John McCain but have messages of support for Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Police also found that many of the vehicles had open gas tanks.

Orlando police are investigating.

Here is one picture of the damage:

Here is the comment from the Clinton camp to TMZ

Hillary's camp just sent us this statement: "There's no tolerance for this kind of activity in the political process. Hillary Clinton strongly supports Barack Obama and urges all of her supporters to do the same."

[update] Comments have suggested that I should not throw out accusations against specific organizations. The title has been changed appropriately. I would also like to say that I do not think these people represent real Clinton supporters.

Re: Shame on them (2.00 / 3)

I highly doubt it was actually Clinton supporters who did it, or even GOP nutjobs. Probably just some punk-ass kids out to cause mischief.

This is especially likely considering that some of the vandalism was apparently anti-McCain, and he's supposedly PUMA's candidate.

Let's not get in a blood-boiling rage over this.

Re: Shame on them (none / 0)

I changed the title.

I consider PUMA a larger entity than the actual organization.  As such I was referring to the general movement as the actors in this case.  I think there is a very, very small section of PUMA that thinks this would be a totally appropriate act of political disobedience.  But that is strictly my opinion.

What is fact is that a group of assholes who wanted everyone to know that they support Hillary Clinton spray painted some cars in Orlando with the words "Obama smokes crack" and "racial epithats".  That is undeniable but you can draw your own conclusions.

I have never, ever, ever seen or heard of or imagined any political organization acting like this - spraying racial epithets and then leaving a calling card - "look at us!  we like Hillary!  we did it!"

Please.  60 cars plus props left at the scene and yet no one saw anything?  If these were really Clinton supporters they would have had to have been both organized and stupid to a degree that never co-exists is any group.

Am I right?  I mean I'm kind of shocked that anyone would think differently.

The types of smears I've seen pushed by Larry Johnson et. al. often accuse Obama's "thugs" of doing stuff exactly like this.  Even they know it looks bad - they wouldn't do it themselves.  What would they be trying to accomplish, "Gee, the media isn't taking Larry Sinclair's accusation that Obama smokes crack seriously, so let's spraypaint it on some cars"?

As I have stated elsewhere, this act doesn't help the repugs.  I think it helps bring rational but angry HRC supporters back into the fold.  The wing that thinks this was a good idea is very, very small.  Once the majority of PUMA realizes how crazy the activist wing is, they will leave.

Is this act Terrorism? (2.00 / 1)

No, I'm dead serious.

Maybe Larry Johnson can help us with this one?

The definition of terrorism recognized by the UN in 1999:

UN Resolution language (1999):"1. Strongly condemns all acts, methods and practices of terrorism as criminal and unjustifiable, wherever and by whomsoever committed;
2. Reiterates that criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable, whatever the considerations of a political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious or other nature that may be invoked to justify them". (GA Res. 51/210 Measures to eliminate international terrorism)

Is it or is it not,  in Zimbabwe it would be called terrorism, in Serbia it would to.

You don't have to kill someone to disrupt the function of our government and our abilities to elect representatives of said government.

It might seem that my statement/question is loaded and over the top, but I don't think it is.
That's what I see this as.

It was a violent attack against government property with the hope to disrupt our political process and intimidate voters.

Anyone with me or against me?

And if this isn't terrorism, is it anything against vandalism against the state?

Because if so then we can all look foward to the day this is nothing more than throwing fire at police officers.

I hope the FBI takes this seriously.

Truth is... (1.50 / 4)

This site and the leadership here are partly to blame for this.  No, I don't think Jerome went out there with a can of spray paint.  No, I don't think he's still secretly in contact with Alegre.  Nothing silly like that.

But the blatant censorship of Obama Supporters here and the blind tolerance for anything pro-Hillary that lived on these pages for so long this winter and spring gave these people a foothold.  Gave them voice.  Instead of demanding they be more mature, more tolerant...  They were coddled.  And like children, they were spoiled.  The leadership here NEVER stopped to ask one simple question, "What is Obama wins this thing?"  Jerome never considered the monster he was helping to create by legitimizing their behavior.

Certainly there is a chance that these folks are Republicans or even just punks out for a good time.  But I doubt it.  Punks wouldn't be this orchestrated, having the cards to leave behind.  I wouldn't put anything past the Florida GOP but this looks like the work of spiteful PUMA folks.

I don't know what Jerome and the folks here can do about this now.  It's probably way too late.  Many of us were begging him to change course a long time ago and adopt a more balanced tone to his rhetoric.  His choices and the choices made by the Clinton Campaign have led directly to this.  The hidden cost of the kitchen sink is becoming apparent.

Jerome can simply condemn and reject Larry Johnson, Susan Hu, TexasDarling and then all the come-late Puma people who line up outside Fox studios.

If we can condemn Karl Rove then we should condemn them.

What Jerome did to Obama supporters before Hillary condeded is water under the bridge, but by allowing people like New Hampster, GrlPatriot and their minions to be here is unacceptable.

Jerome did say recently they will be sharing some technology from DKOS, hopefully they insert more user based moderating.

99% of the members here have rejected PUMA and the smear merchant Larry Johnson for months.

It may be water under the bridge or it may not be.  Frankly, it isn't to me.  It would've been had he done a SINGLE THING to try to bring people together afterwards.  All he did was stay away for a while and ignore it.  Silence, in this case, isn't leadership.

And like you, I'm not sure there isn't still an undercurrent of anti-Obama sentiment being encouraged here.  I see a lot more than 1% of the posts here still being from those who mean to stir up resentment, promote McCain or just otherwise troll.

You and I both could probably find a better and more productive use for the energy we burn here.

There's still the same selective enforcement going on.  I read some of the diaries, comments, and systematic ratings here and cannot believe that these people not only haven't been banned, but they're still Trusted Users.

I do not believe they were Clinton supporters (2.00 / 3)

I am and have been a Obama supporter. I do not believe Clinton supporters do this. I do believe Republicans would do this. Why do I believe Republicans would do this? It is because Republicans want no unity.

The simple act of it makes Clinton supporters a easy target while unity is being preached. While we may disagree on certain issues and how we got here to the general election I have more faith in true Clinton supporters. I wouldn't put it past Republicans to pose as Clinton supporters.

What political purpose could it serve for them to do something like this? Wouldn't it make more sense to impersonate Obama supporters?

Re: I do not believe they were Clinton supporters (2.00 / 1)

No, because if it were the other way around there would be no one to pin it on.  There are no pro-Obama/anti-Clinton groups or individuals with high media visibility.  There don't need to be.  The primaries are over.

I mean, this is at least plausible.

Operation Vandalize Orlando (none / 0)

It's probably a Republican insurance company looking to kill two birds with one stone.

NOvember?  That's Hillsis44 speak troll.

You disgust me. I can't believe you actually applaud and cite as proof that your hatred is shared with others.

You're celebrating the fact that they are Clintonistas.

Clintonistas? Hell no. DEADENDERS (if that).

Do you even think before you type?

Republican racists in Fl? Who woulda thought.

It is misleading and probably wrong that these folks "support Clinton"..
suggest you edit your opening...

the cool thing about most racist folk is their inability to grasp simple spelling..."smoks" etc..

Re: People that like HRC but not BHO - Vandalize O (2.00 / 1)

When I read this story, I was curious to see if anyone would bite on the obvious frame-up of Clinton supporters.  I guess I'm not surprised, because it happened time and time again throughout the primary.

Smear Obama, point the finger at Clinton, and then watch the Hillary-haters in the Obama camp go berserk with rage.  I guess as long as it works they might as well keep doing it.  Still, come on, how much more obvious could they be than in this case?

Re: People that like HRC but not BHO - Vandalize O (none / 0)

"Qui bono?" as they say (or used to say anyway) in Latin. The obvious beneficiary of this childish act is Barack Obama. The story will have a one-day shelf life, engendering sympathy for Obama from the media.

Is it not possible that Obama supporters were responsible? Karl Rove once planted a listening device in his own office and then claimed that the opposition was spying on him. (By the way, it worked!)

I doubt the campaign was involved but the attempt to discredit Obama's past and current antagonists will inure to their benefit.

Qui bono?

Did you really just compare Obama to Rove?  Honestly?  Do you not see a problem with that on a PROGRESSIVE blog?
